I used to have a bit of a compulsion to ‘acquire’ SRV tones, via modeling and/or pedals. Then I woke up and recognized I can’t and will never be able to play like that. This thing, though-does seem to get that character. For those with the skills. I may have to get one of these to do the things I usually want from a Tube Screamer.
I wonder why pedals such as this, with an apparent sweet spot when the guitar volume is turned down, don't have a switch to cut the level of the input to simulate the guitar volume being turned down. Maybe even have a Strat knob on the pedal - the signal goes through the pretend guitar volume control when the switch engaged, and not when the switch is off. The obvious workaround is to use the guitar volume as intended, of course.
Well, the Volume and Tone knobs on a guitar were always meant to be used, not left at a constant 10. The full potential of an electric guitar can only be realised when this fact is taken into account. Greetings from Germany Mic
With Sony Pro studio headphones on, the 'mid' really sounds like SRV. I think that "digging in" is an essential part of SRV's playing and would like to have seen Paul push those strings harder, with that mid sound. Nice pedal!
i felt like you could have spent some time on the mid with rolling guitar volume back. the high might work for dull amps, like mine can be at times. There's some mojo in that pedal that one day i hope to buy. and i don't play SRV, but i love the tone. Your SRV playing was impressive enough to me.
Interesting pedal but I prefer my Vertex SSS SRV pedal. Offers more useable tones imho. From Robben Ford and John Meyer to Stevie. I have it last in my chain and it’s on most of the time. I liked the mid setting on this demo. Maybe the high would be good in a full band context?
Honestly, for me this pedal does not cut it and it is priced way too high. I worked with this pedal all day and still thought it sounded bad. I would have sent it back but I teach music and was swamped so I did not even open the box for a month (yikes my bad). IMO, My Ts9 has more clarity and crunch and gives me the SRV sound plus. Over the years I have purchased a lot of wanna be SRV pedals only to return to my simple Ts9 which only cost me $99.00.
Having played through this, and seeing the demos/reviews, it does nothing a TS9 and a cranked Fender tube amp won't. I don't understand the constant desire to try and achive a tone, at a low volume, which is unachievable at said volume?
I hear "Lone Star" and I think of the Cardiff rock band from the 70s ... My generation I guess. 🙄 I'm glad you said "Fuzz Face". 👍 It sounded to my ear like a circuit with some FF action going on in there. Like some Face + Boost kinda sorta thing.
Stevie’s sound embodied thousands of gigs starting in his early teens, extremely strong hands and an almost fundamentalist devotion to blues and the people who influenced him. Even if you fit the bill; good luck finding a venue that will let you dime at least (2) 115 or 410 loaded amps. His influence and mastery can’t be overlooked; making people feel the way he did doing your own thing doesn’t come with free shipping at a premium price point.
When I moved to Austin in 1985 and to this day, older Austin guitar players are much bigger fans of Jimmie than Stevie. I didn’t make a lot of friends telling them they’re crazy.
A poor clone of the Diaz Ranger. I wonder what Cesar's opinion on these and many other of his ripped off designs would be if he was still around today.
I think Stevie's tone was far less overdriven than we all imagine.
You’re right he also had a chorus running to thicken his sound
@@jhate666 I've never seen a chorus on his pedal board , but he did use a Leslie speaker sometimes so I guess it's that 👍
100%
Hardly any!
@@Dad-Gadpost prod chorus effect only on recordings... some songs used a lesley which is more noticeable. The chorus is super sutble
Haha! This was ace guys!! Thanks a lot for the feature 🤠❤️
Been seeing commercials for these on Facebook non stop 😂 thanks for the demo it sounded great 👍
It’s funny how he mentions Eric Johnson with SRV just because they’re both Texans- their tones couldn’t be further apart!
Whats the funny bit?
@@whynottalklikeapirat can you read
@@matthewtaylor808 Yup. Can you write? whats actually funny about it?
they both have that Freddie King kind of tone
Like night and day
Now I know how to use this!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👋🏼👋🏼
This pedal has taught me how to get a superb sound using my Boss GT 1

Lonestar, so funny!! Good video guys! 😂

I put the volume on my Guitar on 8
Love that strat.....

What amp was used with the pedal?
They are not using amp…..but it’s nice to see an amp back of them
other part of the equation.... what amp are you using?

It doesn’t just have to be used to copy srv. This tone could sound interested in a bunch of ways.
What guitar, pickups and amp are you playing through?

Reminds me of my analog man beano treble booster

How old is that Fender strat?

Find your own sound. Chasing others costs so much and you can’t be that person
Paul, you managed to make it sound better than the Pedal Pawn guys themselves did with Captain Anderton! 🎸

I heard “Lonestar” and thought we were talking about Michael Britt’s band. Didn’t recognize him in the pictures….
its a Treble booster circuit basically a Dallas Rangemaster modded by cesar diaz
I love mine.Alone in front of my marshal.unreal.
I have a £15 ebay fuzz pedal that does exactly the same thing as this
The clipping with the volume on "full" sounds terrible.
You can do this exact same thing with almost any Germanium fuzz just ask Pete Thorn …He’ll tell ya

Jimmie is a great musician!
Just as good a musician as Stevie… but not as good a guitarist
man that pedal sounds like a fuzz pedal, what happend???? Though... in a mix you might not hear all that deviant distortion and noise..
LOL that Strat is just comically silly. Embarrassing.
The lad who makes these bought himself a couple strats for 30-40k, plenty money in pedals obviously!
A poor clone of the Diaz Ranger. I wonder what Cesar's opinion on these and many other of his ripped off designs would be if he was still around today.
This pedal is the worst thing i touched ever, super loud, very brittle characteristics, definetely not a SEV in a box as being marketed
What a terrible review my god. The pedal sucks anyway
I’m Loving your positivity. It’s always nice when someone puts a constructive comment.
