1.) Swap out the rear knobbie for a supermoto tire
2.) Swap out the front wheel with a smaller diameter rim to bring the front end down

2 strokes ROCK! My old 1972, H2 750 triple 2 stroke with chambers, K&Ns, clip ons, rear sets, bored .040 0ver, ported to the max at Phx Kaw. Never got beat by any 1000, 1100, 1200 cc anything! Power wheelies at 100 mph, just twist the throttle, carefully as it could go right over! Now the 4 strokes are catching up, 2 strokes had to be limited to 500cc in Moto GP while competing against 1000 cc 4 strokes. Now they are 800cc V5, over 280 hp. I still love the light weight and flickable power of the 2 strokes but i never drove a Moto GP bike, lol

Many years ago I rode my '87 Ninja 750 to the Brotherhood strip in the Port of Long Beach. It was a "test and tune" day and lightly attended. Went with a full tank of gas and rode it home when the reserve light came on. Was clicking off 11.34's in the mid 120s run after run. That was a lot of runs crossing the line at 12,000 RPM. Japanese inline 4 street bikes are freakin' durable 😆

I had aZX-14R with 210 HP at the back wheel and 126 lbs of torques, and I also had a old 1986 KX500 two cycles mean machine, and I swear on my life nothing I’ve ever tried doesn’t matter how many wheels, nothing is more agressives than the KX500 maybe it’s because mine wasn’t in good order but the feeling wasn’t like it was going fast, it was like ......nothing and bam everything, not a throttle but instead it was a switch on/off,
And like I was gonna say it didn’t feel like it was fast, it was more of a kinda time machine, when I opened it in the pit sand for the first time I said it’s the first time I seen the scenery go backwards full speed, it really was like I was staying there holding the handlebars and someone rewinds the whole scenery at the fastest speed it could rewinds, violent is the right word to qualify this monster

Anything built for the dirt ain't gonna hang with no crotch rocket. One of the local kids kept saying his 700 raptor would keep up with my R6R on a short run so I showed him it wouldn't. Basically he beat me off the line then as soon as my clutch cause I left him setting like it wasn't even close just went around him so fast it was instantly over. He was like I can't believe how bad you best me. Big difference in a bike with a 100hp and a heavy atv with 60.

It's not easy drag racing anything on 2 wheels. These things have so much torque the front end wants to come up even on dirt. Can't imagine dragging a 500. My 450 wants to come up on asphalt the moment you flick your wrist 1/4 throttle.

+Water King he just needs a linger swingarm to stop the rise. dirtbikes have short swingarms cause other then the start of a race is the only time you go in a straight line plus on dirt the wheel doesnt grip as much compared to the road so its harder to flip therefore tiny af swingarm. get some road tyres. long swingarm. and a smaller front wheel with a holeshot device. then the kx will be a beast

2stroke is so much more wild to drive on then 4stroke. I had both. I had 2stroke Yamaha yz250 old engine with 55hp year 1998.. some of the most funny bike to ride. Then I had some 4cyl inline bikes zuki and kawa. There was awesome to. But a light 2stroke there just want to go fast from home is awesome funny

I did this once on my KX 500 had been ported and bored over I put a police motorcycle street tire on the back left the front a knobby. It was 25 years ago I pulled 3 gears and turned 12.1 at 122. Every time I let off the throttle I got a wicked front and wobble. 2nd time I let up early and wobble was still there I quit after that just way too much didn't want to lay it down on the pavement.

    • @Mike-01234
      @Mike-01234 9 ปีที่แล้ว

Fabiano William I had it geared plus the tire was larger so it also added taller gearing. I have done 135 on dry lake bed using radar gun really isn't that tough for a 500 has enough HP. I had done a lot of work had a port job dome piston had to run race gas higher compression the carb was about 10mm larger.

Fabiano William Not really just a number things move by fast. The scary part at the drag strip was when I let off the throttle the speed wobble was crazy I thought I was going to get hurt bad. This was at Carlsbad Drag strip in southern 1989. I don't think it's there anymore like most Drag Strips in CA are gone now.

paul rogers Nope, the power band In smaller two strokes is 7-8 thousand rpm, where the kx500 makes peak power around 5-6 thousand rpm's. In fact I think the rev limiter is under 7 grand. It's just not what 2 stroke guys are used to hearing

Probably better with the knobby on there, he had really good traction. A slick race tire is gonna heavier and solid compound, more weight further away from the hub means more work for the motor. Easily a 15LB difference there.

My thoughts. With that crazy small sized rear sprocket (appears to be a 32-34 tooth or so) a 2nd gear launch on asphalt (high traction) would be extremely difficult and third gear there is just no way even launching it at around 6000rpms where its power peaks it would either stall, the bike would bog badly or you would have to slip the clutch excessively to the point where it’s counter productive. Removing knobby tires definitely would help as would a holeshot device. Bike trapped 101mph (162kmh) which while decent for a dirt bike is nothing compared to most street bikes. The 12.68 ET at only 101mph trap is actually pretty decent et vs trap speed. Example most rwd cars that trap 101mph run high 13s to low 14s. Basically the good ET versus trap speed tells me that it’s actually getting off the line decently overall but it’s running out of acceleration at around 80mph plus due to aerodynamic drag overpowering the engines power. A 500 is knife in a gun fight on the streets.

Duuuuu People! Two stokes make there power band in the flywheel nut, properly torqued, combined with the spark-plugs, sonic tuned by the isometric port deck clearance height whilst matching the ring flutter at 9000-RPM too the tuned pipe filled with grease, you can vary it by 300~500 RPM.
It's the only way to do it I should know I work on bikes!! LOL!
But only if you wear Blue Glasses with Magic Shoes from Sol when you ride the Great Space Coaster.
Aww, who cares, it looks like fun!
