Give this video a Thumbs Up if you want Sean to stop typing while filming because it's super annoying.

👎 there’s so much creative things you can do with the typing in the background:
•1 Add a quick scene of Jerry Lewis typewriting (TH-cam it, it’s hilarious clean comedy) while Sean is typing.
•2 Use it as an instrumental towards the end of your videos. Mix it a 70s beat or something.
…it’s really different because I’ve seen a lot of vids on copywriting and I think adding the sounds effects of a typewriter would be cool, even if done occasionally.
To your comment I shall make my thumbs down more then the thumbs up. 👎👎👎👎 like always great vid guys 🙌

Thank goodness!! You pointed it out because it's really annoying for a person like me who is sensitive to noise and easily gets distracted. Anyway, a big thank you to all of you guys for so much value in FREEEE! It means a lot.

Honestly i just want to say thank you, i am so utterly grateful for this hidden gem you all have created. The website guide is clear in directing new copywriters (like myself) on how to frist teach myself the basics and then slowly attempt them instead of taking a nose deep dive into writing random pieces of copy. so again thank you so much!

So much value from Copy That! videos. Thank you so much for all the info.
I do wonder why so many copywriting gurus say not to start on Upwork and similar websites…

Question: If a local business doesnt work with email marketing whatsoever - what am I gonna do as a copywriter?
Setting up the email broadcast on my own?

I am trying to clear up something in my head and could you possibly make a video on this:
    1. As copywriters, what is the ratio of clients you acquire that you simply just write for them in a Google Doc and you send it to them and they use it vs. the companies that you are writing the copy while also managing their entire email list, scheduling of the emails, sending of the emails, creation of ads, scheduling of ads, posting of ads?
That part of the process is what confuses me and I'd like a video they deep dives into this topic.
    2. If a company is a startup and they do not have an email list but they are trying to get more customers, where do I come in with my copywriting services. Do I offer to grow their email list for them or should I let them grow their list and then when they have should I then offer my services.
Another deep dive video on this topic on the type of services you can provide as a copywriter!
    Thanks immensely!

Well, for No. 1, there's not really a deep dive necessary! Most of the work done by copywriters is done using Google Docs or Microsoft Word. I'd say it's 99%. Companies that also need additional help with internal marketing and list management are few and far between, but those are stellar opportunities if you know those skills. You still, ultimately, will be writing stuff in Word or GDocs, though, as well as using ESPs and CRMs like Keap and what not.
It is rare (very rare) that the person who manages the email list also manages posting ads to the networks and media buying. One is internal and the other is external. Both require a bit of specialization in different skills and platforms.
Couldn't say what the ratio is. The vast majority of your career as a copywriter is going to be writing in word processors and submitting it to people who do all the other stuff for you. That is, unless you also learn marketing.
For 2, startups without email lists need landing pages, ppc ads, product pages, website copy, white papers, SEO blogs, brochures, catalogs, B2B memos, press kits, press releases, investor relations copy, and more! None of what I just listed remotely requires any email copy or an email list. Some businesses don't even want to collect and market to emails. But you can certainly try to sell those businesses on email copy--it is relatively easy to do, so long as you have a good sense of how to do lead gen, list engagement, and email marketing!

When and if you decide to use Upwork, do you pitch to potential clients that you are a copy writer that is super into their particular niche or can you incorporate the aspect of marketing and show them you are more than a copy writer, even though when they posted the job they were looking for copy writers?

what about copywriting for charity? Sounds like a great way to build your portfolio.

Sure, many charities use direct response as well. But just because they're a charity does not mean they're not discerning, you know? They're not a guaranteed gig.

@@CopyThat I agree. You have to provide value in some way even if you are working for free. I do think a testimonial from a trusted organization never hurts.
