@HubertSsound There are two pattern types - P3 is a step pattern, ck is an event list. Each bar of a P3 pattern is 16 steps, and a pattern can be 16 bars long, so the maximum is 256 steps. The ck pattern has no practical limit. If it is not set to loop, it can be a few million bars long. You would probably run out of memory before you reached that point, unless you were on the vanguard of a new style of extreme minimalism. It's about 16 days at 120bpm.
If I want to control, say 16 tracks on the Digitakt, would I create an instrument for each track, labelled "Drums", with a dedicated channel? Or would I create a single instrument then have each track between the Cirklon and Digitakt mapped to the same channel?
The internal resolution is 192ppqn. In slave mode, the period of each incoming 24ppqn tick is measured and divided by 8 to give the internal tick period, with a short-term adjustment to match the relative positions as needed.
@rossdeluxe there is no strict definition of the octave numbers for MIDI notes. I use 'C 0' for the very bottom note of the MIDI range, up to 'G X' for note 127 (X being roman numeral 10). That means I never need more than 3 characters to show a note name.
Well done on your foresight and vision. I have wondered for a few years why no one has made a new, modern, dedicated midi sequencer. Sadly though I dont think it would be great for me as I need a more traditional style linear sequencer where I can play stuff in as if I were recording in to my Daw.
@BlackMan614 There are two analogue interfaces. The CVIO board is an optional extra, with 16 CV and 8 gates outputs. The gates can also be used as inputs. I used the CVIO board in the video to drive a minimoog. Built into the standard model is a new interface I designed to drive analogue percussion. It is an alternative mode for the DIN SYNC connector, and transmits up to 32 multiplexed accent and trigger signals. It is driving my 808/909 module. I will post details on the web site soon.
@mbondthebest There is one USB port. It is a slave port - you connect it to a PC or Mac and it will show up as a class-compliant MIDI interface with 4 virtual ports.
The price is secondary to this sequencers functions and the straight forward way it works! A no brainer to my mind . Especially because this controls hardware! And this is built by the folks who created it to address the issue of using it ...Peace Christo
I saw that one on Reverb. I waited for a year and got mine 2 days ago. I saw one on ebay last week too and it sold for nearly $2400! Now that Sequentix has moved to Berlin, I suspect they'll be able to find vendors so they can speed up production. The prices should come down I'd guess once production increases. I kinda like the idea of exclusivity though. haha Now I just need to learn how to use it to it's vast potential.
looks extremely robust, keeping an eye on this beast, sooner or later im going to need a standalone sequencer to take god like control of my various midi units. Keen to see how this could breed new life into my korg emx-1 (poly-rhythmic patterns? yes please :D)

This is everything I want a sequencer to be. Well, other than "inexpensive." At least it's still within the wider spectrum of "affordable," albeit, for myself, fairly close to the edge.
Hi sequentix, Love the sequencer. I looked on your site and i couldn't find info on the amount of kit you could plug in to it and play. I'm guessing with five MIDI in and outs it's quite a lot. But can you tell me what a lot is please. :). Also what is the rough waiting time on the list for a batch to be made up? Cheers.
hi guys, thinking about buying one. want to now if i can step sequenze also cc messages, like the parameter locks, the elektron machine can do. thank you and cheers
UI seems amazing ! I only know elektron which got a serious reputation regarding UI. But this looks very intuitive and fast to work with. I especially like the way you can "draw" "shapes". It would makes great lfo if there were sort of interpolation between steps. Is that implemented or planned ?
Is it possible to record midi notes with an external keyboard or only with the onboard step sequencer? Another question, long sustained notes can be recorded or they must be step lenght?
Just an idea mate, take that background generator off before recording :D I do not get the part at 11:00 where the screen reads all at :24. Care to elaborate?
I didn't think you could hear the generator over the self-noise of the crappy mic. Next video I do will use a Rode NT1, a mic so quiet you don't know it's on until the howlround takes out your eardrums. The gate lengths are shown as :, where each step is divided into 48 ticks. The values of :24 mean 24 ticks, i.e. a gate length of 50% of the step.
I'm really torn between having this run two ARP Odyssey modules or spending $5k for the Oberheim Two Voice. I'm looking at a sequencer that can chain sequences, ratchet steps, have different patches for each track and can have the sequences entered manually or programmed with notes. I think the one advantage the Oberheim has is well..the sound of course but also the ability to play keys. Really tough call cause this is about $2000 CDN for me plus two $600 modules I'm at over three grand...should I save more and get the Oberheim. I'm not sure.
can it record notes entered from a keyboard (incl. velocity and length) via one of its midi in port (that then could simultaneously be routed to several of its midi out ports?)?
he is very enthusiastic about this. it has taken many years for him to work towards where he is at the moment. you do not produce such an excellent piece of kit by not being enthusiastic about what you are doing. if you are recording a video for a customer base that will be worldwide you must make it vocally clear.
This is an amazingly simple and well-thought-out workflow. Why can't all electronic instruments be this simple to use?

What a beautiful piece of kit. I would like to lock myself in a room for a year with that and a mini and come out with an album.
i have used hd sequencers for 25years, and this is the best so far.

They are Cherry MX keys (part MX1A-11NW).

This box looks totally bad ass - love the build quality - not surprised its so expensive...but it looks totally pro...
This might sound weird but i'd quite love to know what kind of pushbuttons this sequencer uses.

The most intelligent, innovative sequencer ever. Must be great to have one, since it sequences hardware/software....Fantastic...Thanks for your videos

@harrymerchant456 Cirklon has two pattern types - p3 = step sequence, ck = linear event list pattern.
You can record real-time into either.

8:13 ~ the alternative pattern view is fantastic!
very nice piece of equipment but at $1600+ I guess I'll have to wait for one on the second hand market. i.e. eBay approximately 10 years from now....
Exactly what I was gonna say.

I went with Elektron gear it works for me and no wait.
only six years left...
If only you knew what would happen tot he price 6 years ago :)

Brilliant! cannot wait to get one

update software ! can't save midi channel ! have to set midi channel every time I power down and than up
UI seems amazing !

hello, can we make an UNDO to the CIRKLON ? thanks
can the cirklon be used as a multiclock to sync several hardware devices over midi (sending "start, stop, continue")?
Is it possible to record midi notes with an external keyboard or only with the onboard step sequencer? Another question, long sustained notes can be recorded or they must be step lenght?
We need more Cirklon's in singapore. Send them over, it's an emergency!
Do you plan to make something like midi phrases? It's fantastic feature included in Octopus. I have both and miss that function in Cirklon :)
Just an idea mate, take that background generator off before recording :D

Any chance of CV/Gate in future updates?
I better start saving...
starving you mean? its worth it
I'm guessing this would be a nice marriage with the VERMONA DRM1 mkIII drum machine?
how will it work if in slave mode with a resolution of 96ppq?

EVERETT did you grab that Oberhiem? I have in the box if you havent ...Im in T.O
can you have more than 16 steps in a sequence?
Yup.
6:33
Whats the synth?
Can you transpose the sequence via external keyboard?
Yup
Excellent! You are way cool for doing this one! Peace Christo 🎶🎶🙏🙏👽👽🕺🕺✌🏻✌🏻🔦🔦👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻🛸🛸🐕

Yes. This video is now quite out of date. An updated version of Cirklon will be going into production soon (covid19 permitting...)
How can you assign cutoff and resonance and other main parameters on a assign it through the encoders on the Cirklon???
Just out of curiosity: where is this accent from?
scotland
limmy?
LOL. Nope, but same neck of the woods.
Thanks! :-)
This guy sound so unbelievably unenthusiastic it is hard to want this

that was my feeling too .. defo not a marketing guy we heard.
huh?
lol pro audio company with bad audio quality on the video.
Recorded 9 years ago on a £300 camcorder.
And we don't make any audio gear. Just MIDI :)
sequentix oh it’s fine lol. I just always find it at least slightly ironic 🤷♂️
