Give Me an Answer - Why Should We believe That There Is No Supernatural Events?

  • Program 1322 ................... - Faith and Doubt - Naturalism - The Gospel .................................................................
Recorded at Texas - September 2021.
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

As an atheist I struggled with how there possibly could be such evil/ugliness and such good/beauty in this world. As a believer I see the same thing when I see the cross, God's beauty/good and our evil/ugliness in the same place!

@@danj8038 The term atheist is funny. As a born again believer I now understand that everyone knows God exists, just as Romans1:18-32 elaborates. *It all comes down to Jesus* . Everyone knows God exists, even "atheists". The litmus is, do you acknowledge that He revealed Himself in the form of a man and died for your sins? Atheists reject that, so they make their own gods and create their own rules as Romans1 explains.
So yes, I agree with what you say. Nobody can live out the ideology of atheism, because it is complete nonsense. And as the Bible tells us, nobody truly believes there is no God. He left His fingerprints EVERYWHERE.

I would like to invite you to share with me a thought experiment.
Suppose there is a universe with no god. What would be the characteristics of this universe?
I suggest that people would still say that there is a god. People would say that they truly believe this god exists and they have a personal relationship with this being. They would point to mysterious events and say that event was a miracle from god. They would deem a lot of coincidences to be prophecy from god.
People would claim they know certain attributes of this god. They would say that this god is perfect, powerful, all-knowing, and loving. They would say that he is eternal and he can take on many forms. And he can even author a book and write on our hearts for us to learn about him and sense his presence.
And they would proclaim that they know what this god wants from them. And he has something to offer that is very appealing if you only abide by his wishes.
But, not everyone would be in agreement about this god. Conflicts will arise and divisions will occur between those believers. Why, there may even be wars as a result of these conflicts.
You see, that hypothetical universe would look exactly the same as the universe we live in today. So, how do we discern which universe is the true one?

    One of my favourite quotes from Steve Weinberg;
“Frederick Douglass told in his Narrative how his condition as a slave became worse when his master underwent a religious conversion that allowed him to justify slavery as the punishment of the children of Ham. Mark Twain described his mother as a genuinely good person, whose soft heart pitied even Satan, but who had no doubt about the legitimacy of slavery, because in years of living in antebellum Missouri she had never heard any sermon opposing slavery, but only countless sermons preaching that slavery was God's will. With or without religion, good people can behave well and bad people can do evil; but for good people to do evil - that takes religion.”

First of all a true follower of Christ wouldn't need a MAN to preach a sermon to understand that slavery is wrong, all one would need is discernment from the Holy Spirit when reading the bible.

    • @GraftedOliveBranch
      @GraftedOliveBranch 2 ปีที่แล้ว

It seems as though Mr Arsecandle is all hung up on slavery!!!... Well, all ancient civilisations of the past engaged in one form of slavery or another. The slavery you read about in the bible was NOT race-based forced servitude. It was a voluntary way of paying of debts, or from keeping captives from mustering a rebellion. The slaves were to be treated well and supplied with all the necessities of an average everyday person... On top of that, every slave had to be released after 7 years. Many slaves even refused to be released once their 7 years were over, and they chose to stay with their previous slave owners due to the good treatment they received. In those cases, it was required that the former slave should be payed a full workers wage and everyday supplied with food, clothing, and housing.

I love your discourse and the responses, however I disagree with Stewart’s statement towards the end of the video that to come to the Bible first and then believe is laughable. That caught me way off and perhaps you didn’t mean it or just spoke quickly, however, that statement is laughable in sight of Gods word. God has said that his word is a double edged sword separating soul and spirit, His word is alive and certainly was the crux of my salvation, a young guy with no prior knowledge of the gospel. The Bible when I read it provided a worldview and explanation that fit in with the world around me, sin, and the nature of man made incredible sense, and further more the grace and redemption of mankind amazed me. That God would save us, a wicked and fallen creation, all of which I was led by conviction as well. You can’t throw out the Bible as a sole means of finding God. I’m glad we have so many resources and tools to see God in a great way from philosophy to science, however Gods word is sufficient, that’s why we have it. The gospel, the entire Bible, is Gods written revelation of himself to us, and it is certainly enough to call an unbeliever to salvation, because as you know, it’s not just a book. It’s alive, it’s truth, it changes lives, not some book written by men, but the literal inspired word of God. Carrying the message of salvation. Great vid tho, and interested if that is your stance on the Bible, is the Bible and its message sufficient alone to bring people to salvation?

    1) Do not believe in anything because it is rumored and spoken of by many.
    2) Do not believe merely because the written statement of some old sage is produced; do not, be sure that the writing has ever been revised by the sage or can be relied on.
    3) Do not believe in what you have fancied, thinking that, because an idea is extraordinary, it must have been implanted by a Deva or some wonderful being.
    4) Do not believe in guesses, that is, assuming something at haphazard as a starting point and then drawing conclusions from it reckoning your two and your three and your four before you have fixed your number one.
    5) Do not believe merely on the authority of your teachers and masters or believe and practice merely because they believe and practice.

A lot of the commenters on this channel claim they have evidence for their imaginary friend Jesus but not a single one of you can show me that claimed evidence. Most if not all of you don't even realise that his name, if he had existed would not have been "Jesus" or "Yeshua"
Jews in this period wrote Aramaic in Hebrew script so his name would not be "Yeshua" but as "Isho" or "Lesous". He didn't actually exist so it's somewhat a moot point what he would have been called.
I suggest any of you who doubt what I say go visit the Israel Museum and ask for evidence of Jesus and see how you get on.
His conception is true of all myth/legends (virgin birth) as is his birthday and where he was born. The day he was supposedly crucified was actually given at the Council of Nicaea in 325CE and no records exist of his crucifixion but is the same way of dying as many other so-called "Saviour Gods".

Order and design is only possible from a mind. The universe has order and design. The only obvious answer is from an intellectual mind. Order and design simply can't come from nothing. It's impossible for chance or nothing to create order and design. One could say oh that's an opinion or what one believes, but we know that everything in this world clothes, buildings, cars etc comes from a mind who puts them together. If everything could come about by chance then we wouldn't need builders architects factory workers etc.

The number of a given organisms population may increase or decrease, the traits of an organism may become more or less prominent with changes to it's environment, but the org. Continues to be a form of itself, so you have micro-changes but not macro-evolution. You have abilities or activities change but it's still in it's same phylum, etc.

AMEN brother Cliffe Knechtle I really appreciate your Christ centered and Scripturally accurate content for the furtherance of The Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ ❤️👊. This has nothing and everything to do with the video but please listen if you want to otherwise leave it alone and ignore it. Hello my name is Justin and I'm a fellow Christian and Apologist but I'm also a college student. I'm not a closed minded Theist as I have nothing against Atheists or unbelievers as I speak to them often to understand their reasons for unbelief but we as Christians are convinced of God's Existence due to many real factors). I'm not trying to convert anyone or convince anyone to become Christians as that's The Holy Spirit's job to help people believe but only explain why I believe in Jesus Christ. There's actually evidence of God's Existence in Christianity. First of all there's proof that Jesus of Nazareth existed in history since the writings of Tacitus, Josephus Flavius, Pliny the younger and other historical documents prove that He was living two thousand years ago that even scholars both religious and Atheists agree with historically speaking but not that He's The Divine Son of God because obviously they don't.
I'm going to give you historical and archeological evidence for God's Existence as The Scriptures have prophecies that predate the events recorded in them by several millennia including Matthew, Hosea and Zechariah which prophesy accurately of the people of Israel becoming a nation again after over 1900 years of being scattered around the nations since the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 A.D. spoken of by Christ in Matthew 23:29-24:3 and returning to their homeland after The Holocaust with Jerusalem as their capital in 1948 exactly as Jesus The Christ said. The prophets including Daniel spoke of the time where several world empires would arise and fall including the Babylonian kingdom, Medes and Persians, Roman Empire, and Saladin and the Muslims which went in consecutive order for the past few millennia. The people of Israel becoming a nation after The Holocaust in 1948 (ironically the melting point of gold as God compares Israel to gold that's tested in fire in Zechariah 13:8 and Jeremiah 16:15) exactly how Jesus The Christ said would happen since God us everything to come in The Scriptures and not just because people were working towards as Atheists claim which are impossible for any regular man to predict.
Just before anyone says Christianity is a white man's religion made to oppress blacks during slavery you obviously aren't aware that the first Christians were Jews in The Middle East and that Christianity just like any religion can be used by evil and corrupt people to oppress others but you forget that the first Abolitionists/Civil Rights activists were Christians who sought to abolish slavery, racism, segregation, injustice and prejudice throughout American history. Jesus The Christ loves you enough not to give you what we all deserve which is God's Wrath by His Own Blood. Charles Darwin didn't originally come up with The Theory of Evolution over 200 years ago as it is mentioned in the writings of Ancient Greeks who believed in Demons that gave knowledge to philosophers.
Evolution makes no sense when nothing has evolved after thousands of years of human history and supposedly the first creature came from primordial sludge several millions of years
ago funny how they won't believe that God an Eternal Almighty Spirit Being created us from the Earth) which came from a supermassive expansion of matter at high temperature that inexplicably created everything in the known universe that supposedly came from nothing billions of years ago. How did the organs evolve before there were bones, skin, substance and how did any creatures see before eyes evolved? I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" and I'm not convinced of but not macro or micro Evolution because there's no evidence of it nor clear observable examples of it where living creatures evolve into other kinds of species plus the fact that fossils don't show evidence of evolution and genetic entropy rules out evolution. The question begs how did two genders evolve from a common ancestor with a perfectly hospitable and sustainable environment with breathable oxygen and resources to survive on inexplicably? Atheists have the burden of proof to explain how everything came to be and why our existence is possible without the Existence of God from an godless perspective just as Christians have to provide evidence of God's Existence and the validity of His Word.
Evolution requires life to already exist in order to take any effect in living organisms so it doesn't account for the existence of Life and reality. Also evolution is impossible because it goes against The Law of entropy and the second Law of thermodynamics because evolution makes things better whereas nothing continues to get better but decays and turns to absolute destruction in the end. Mark Ridley an Evolutionist said "No evolutionist whether gradualist or punctuationist uses the fossil record as evidence in favor of The Theory of Darwinian Evolution as opposed to special Creation". God's Existence is made perfectly known and observable in the universe as demonstrated in His Handiwork in the intelligently designed manner that Creation was made, human consciences and consciousness historical and archaeological evidence of God's Word being valid history, fulfillment of Bible Prophecies God in His Holiness and Righteousness could give us what we deserve in Hell for our since but He's merciful to give us free will to choose to accept or reject His gift of salvation by grace through faith in His Son Jesus. I don't mean this is any condescending manner but if you'd like to discuss The Scriptures with me or have me listen to your view on anything my instagram account is Savage Christian Kombatant.

Hi, can you explain why nowadays miracle of healing such as Jesus and his disciple which have authority from Jesus does not happened nowadays. • @JohnCashin

Good question, it's one I have often asked myself and the response I get from Christians in general (not all) is that such healings ARE happening today. Which would be great if it were true but the problem is, the stories they tell regarding these alleged miraculous healings are so vague that they cannot be either verified as actual divine healings or falsified as such.
I would have thought though that if such miracles happened and they could be confirmed that they would make front page news, and yet, there seems to be a decided lack of interest in them within the mainstream media and as a skeptic I have to ask myself why there is such a disinterest in something that would be so world changing unless there is a lot of doubt about the validity of the claims? 🤔 And this is what I am unfortunately inclined to believe, although I would love to be wrong.

@@dreamers1782That's a fair question you ask and yes, after giving it some thought the answer is that it would certainly give me a good reason to review my position, sure, but what's interesting about today's society is that unlike back then, when Jesus (at least the historical one) was around, we will now have much bigger coverage of such a person and much greater scrutiny. For example, imagine what the alleged feeding of the five thousand would have been like on a raw TH-cam video, what would it have looked like if it were true? What would we have seen? Food appearing out of thin air into baskets? I don't know 🤔
All I know is the Jesus Christ of 2000 years ago didn't have TH-cam or any other social media that would follow him around, uploading either recorded or live videos of him saying and doing miraculous things. There were scribes back then who might have followed him and written down what he said and did, or at least, what they THOUGHT he said and did and there would have been a lot of second-hand information too.
Remember, it was mainly an oral tradition based culture back then, rather than just written, even though there was writing too, being a scribe was considered a 'skilled profession' back then, because not everyone could write, most people just talked, that is what they mostly depended on for info back then, word of mouth but it would take years before any writings that were done were selected and put together into one book and by then it was difficult (to say the least) to be sure how much of what was written about Jesus was accurate and how much if it might have been made up or exaggerated or the result of people just being mistaken and there is no way to properly check, unfortunately, it's too far back, all the alleged witnesses are loooooooong dead, so we either have to just trust the writtings or doubt them.
In today's world, however, it could be very easily checked, information like that would be ready to be seen in an instant. I mean, no sooner would Jesus speak today or do a miracle (if he really could) and news of it would be ALL around the world in minutes, you can imagine watching the news every day about him and it would make the top story, much bigger than Covid or the war in Ukraine, we're talking the BIGGEST story in the history of humankind "Divine Being Who Can Heal the Sick and Raise the Dead Walking on Earth", there might still be skeptics but there would be much less because there would be so many experts to confirm their power, doctors, scientists, investigative journalists, you name it. Thanks.

Put two basic definitions together and you get man made = Supernatural. Thus a Supernatural source aka God is required.
Nature definition: the physical world and everything in it that is not made by people.
(Humans do things beyond natures ability)
Supernatural comes from the Latin word supernaturalis, meaning beyond nature.
Humans do things beyond nature =
    Humans do Supernatural things.
Supernatural cannot come from nature as it is Beyond Nature thus requiring a supernatural source aka God.
How basic observations lead to God:
Mind- Supernatural events need supernatural sources, surgery is a supernatural event which comes from the human mind thus the human mind is supernatural, its source pointing to a God/god like being. (Supernatural = Beyond nature)
Body- Space matter and time began to exist which requires a source beyond space matter and time pointing to a God/god like being.
Spirit- In order for objective Morale laws to exist there needs to be a standard of absolute good to be able to measure anything less results in subjective Morales this points to a God/god like being.
You don't have to believe anything at all exists but you behave as if cars in the road exist because that is what the evidence suggests so you treat it as if it exists. I believe these observations is all that is needed for us to behave as if God exists and if there is a God we should do all we can to find and understand this being just like we would if evidence of any other life is found.
I would then suggest the Bible is a excellent starting place since it indicates that Mind, Body and Spirit is the image of God and is the image man was made in, as this is what we observe in the world since the claim and observation match that is itself evidence for the Bible that evidence considered with the claim that the Bible is God introducing himself to man shows this would be a smart starting place to seek God.

@@DRayL_ Christian, Muslim, Atheist (No God) each is the same sharing the belief they believe is true.
But the truth of the matter is the only one that shouldn't exist in an age of science & knowledge is the Atheist (No God) position.
God is just a title meaning First, creator, sustainer, it is however a title that people have a lot of baggage with so rather than use that title I will use a synonym of that title "Source".
A source does not need to be able to think or feel or be personal or have personhood, but a source a first that results in a chain that creates and sustains the universe is required.
Universe either started requiring a source or the universe is eternal in which it is the source.
Either way a source is needed each group may call this source something different and claim different things about it but each group agrees a source is required so the only position that should logically not exist is the Atheist (No Source) position, we can dispute about features, attributes, functions of the source but we cannot logically deny a source exists.
Just to be ahead of the whole Atheist meaning, people say they're Atheist but what they should say is they are Anti-Theist because that is generally what they are, I just used what most will understand and even added (No God)/(No Source) for clarity and I will provide even more clarity and define the positions so you can understand how it is not lack of belief but a lack of consideration that makes someone an atheist aka the ignorant position.
All people are Atheists, same as: All criminals are innocent - True for every crime they didn't commit except that is not how we operate, one is enough to be something. 1 crime = Criminal, 1 Child = Parent, 1 Answer = Apologist. Atheist is a passive position that a baby or child has until they ask, God? At which point God has entered the world view thus no longer passive, no longer atheist, it's like virginity once its gone you never get it back. You than become either Anti-Theist, Agnostic or Theist.
Follows no God but rejects at least 1 God claim = Anti-Theist
Follows at least 1 God, rejects all other God claims = Theist
Considers God but doesn't accept or reject any God claim = Agnostic
Doesn't Consider any God claim at all = Atheist
The reality of the situation is true on its own and does not require you to agree thus disagreeing because you think, feel or want different is meaningless, so if you just want to disagree and argue than you're wasting your time as your thoughts, wants or feelings on the matter do not affect it at all.

    The Gospel: Plain and
    Simple
“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent
beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your
minds should be corrupted from the simplicity
that is in Christ.” - 2 Corithians 11:3
Ask someone today if they are saved and
you will most likely hear responses like these:
“I have accepted Jesus into my heart.” Or “I
have made him Lord of my life.” “I’ve been
baptized.” “I said a prayer.” Sounds all good
and churchy don’t it; but it is difficult to de-termine whether or not a person actually
knows the gospel that saves them. These use￾less phrases don’t describe a thing about what
the gospel is and has left a devastating effect
of people not knowing what it is that they are
saved from nor how they are saved; which
leaves a more serious effect of people ques￾tioning their salvation.
Let’s not muddy the simplicity of salva￾tion that is in Christ with vague church
sounding phrases that do not communicate
anything. But rather present God’s word with
clarity and assuredness. So here is the gospel:
    plain and simple.
Sin was passed upon all men by one man
Adam, and death is a consequence of this sin
(Rom 5:12). Mankind has an eternal destiny of
condemnation and wrath - Hell - because of
this sin (Rom 6:23). No matter what good
works one might do we are still found sinners
in the sight of our Creator God. And all un￾righteousness and those who follow get in￾dignation and wrath. We cannot be found
righteous for by God’s law we are found sin￾ners (Rom 3:19-20). If we have broken even
one law we are found guilty.
It is for this reason of not being able to
create our own righteousness and being born
in a sinful flesh that we need a savior (Titus
3:5). Christ is that Savior, God manifested in
the flesh, sinless, died in our place on a cross
2000 years ago. Taking upon him the wrath
and judgement that was intended for us sin￾ners. And it is through his bloodshed, burial,
and resurrection on our behalf that we are
able to have peace with God and forgiveness
of our sins (1 Cor 15:1-4, Col 3:14). This good
news is unto all but only those that believe in
it are made righteous in Christ (Romans
    3:22).
It is then after we have heard this good
news of Christ’s righteousness available to us freely, that we are sealed with the Holy Spirit
and we are now part of Christ’s body the
    church (Eph 1:13)
There is nothing that we need to do, no
good works that are required, and no bad
works that can separate us from our new po￾sition in Christ (Romans 8:35-39).
Faith and belief in this information from
    God’s word is the gospel.
The gospel is not accepting Jesus into your
heart. The gospel is not making him lord of
your life, it is not saying a prayer and it is not
    being baptized with water.
So next time someone asks you if you are
saved. Give them the clear assured answer
“Yes! And let me tell you why

What if we turn the tables a bit and it were you visiting a Hindi page....
And these things were said to you over and over...
There can be no right or wrong, no basis for morality without Hanuma.
You cannot speak about anything coherently because you speak for the evil one.
The world view you have is against Hanuma and is therefore incoherent and evil.
You are not able to distinguish between good and evil because you do not have the spirit of Hanuma in you.
You just want to be your own god and do what you want...
You cannot have a clear understanding or coherence of anything in the Bhagava Gita unless you have the spirit of Hanuma in you so you cannot judge it or comment on its validity......
These are the things you say to us.

They (and by they I mean you) don't want for there to be a God but they also don't want to do the work necessary to ground reality WITHOUT God.
Your autism stands in causal relation to your atheism. Your problems forming relations with people is magnified in your refusal to form one with God.
Furthermore, your inability to read social cues leads you to go to a forum and make a complete fool of yourself by asking ridiculous and inane questions. Then you convince yourself that those that find you tedious are somehow afraid of you .

I see there are supposed to be three replies [before this one], yet only one is showing up [from Our Savior]. I wish TH-cam would fix this issue!!
Regardless,...Saint Paul of TH-cam, I'm going to have to require you provide evidence for this very specific claim, please. It is a very serious accusation.

I am reposting this from 3 hours ago. I still see mine (this one) and Our Savior's and yours.
How am I, one that is autistic (Asperger Syndrome), and readliy admit and quite aware of my 'disordered' interpersonal social cues, disordered in my _thinking?_ Is my position in atheism irrational in any manner?

Take it from a Scotsman with an interest in Philosophy,
    David Hume is Overrated.
    Read Thomas Reid instead.

WHY should I take it from you? Is your perspective more honest, researched, or accurate than my own?

No one, not even Cliffe can detect the supernatural. The supernatural has more in common with things that don't exist, than anything else.

How do you know that? And what do you mean by "detect"? What is your worldview and why should I believe whatever it is that you do?
