Dude what you mean the animated Mulan would be called girl boss. She actually had build up from to nothing to something. We would be insulting new Mulan and not the old one.
"Divergence" was the word you were looking for. Anyway, on the one hand, people are on a hair trigger about this stuff since it has been a problem so much recently. It really looks cool. I guess we will see what happens.
Also they started this shit first ruining our favorite game and movies franchise and memories from them to something not even same anymore. Because of them and many others things and people have shifted to right because we had enough woke crap from everything. Gamers are fighting back
We’ve reached a point where it feels like everything is trying to "correct" the past abundance of male protagonists in games and movies. Even if this particular game doesn’t forcefully push "wokeness," it’s hard to ignore that many new releases deliberately exclude men-white men in particular-from strong lead roles. You can’t overlook the subtext here. This isn’t "diversity" anymore if men are entirely absent. The context and atmosphere matter. When trailer after trailer features only female leads, people will notice the lack of representation for the gender that makes up the majority of gamers. Even if this game doesn’t push an agenda directly, the cumulative effect adds up. It contributes to a broader trend of ignoring what a large segment of players want. Naturally, people are going to call it "woke," and they have every right to do so.
my biggest problem with the main character is she finished shaving her head and barely wiped it off which means shes tracking tiny hairs all over her living space clothes and cockpit
@@jmgonzales7701A woman that is completely masculine in both attitude and design. Her attitude is defined by emasculating man and there is usually no character development due to her abrasive traits being idealized. If she has a relationship its either with another woman or an emasculated male who’s usually dumped for said woman.
@@jmgonzales7701same way you write a likable strong male character. "Well Peter, if you're going to be a hero, be a real hero. Don't be one of those Hollywood heroes pretending they're tough guys. Just be strong and real. Tell the truth. Be strong enough to be gentle." - Larry Cullen, brother to Peter Cullen, the voice of optimus prime.
@brojoe130 Projection much, and no. I'm just saying it would be cooler if that were the case. Not a boring buzz cut that so many characters in games already have.
I think you have to remember when it comes to product placement is how well it actually fits into the game’s setting. COD and GTA are meant to be modern day settings in worlds that try to mimic what we would think as the “real world”. Intergalactic is a Sci-fi, possibly fantasy, and we don’t even know if earth is still around or even exists in the property, so it’s really weird seeing modern day brands and product placement despite the fact that most brands today will be dead and gone in a century, either bought out, broken up, or rebranded into something new
The fact that Naughty Dog has disabled the comments on both of the trailers for their brand new upcoming IP should tell you everything you need to know about it.
I don’t mind a strong female protagonist what I do hate is when it’s ABOUT BEING a strong female protagonist… only time will tell hopefully the writing is good
Spot on Roosty, nailed it. We are tired of the forced, patronizing, pander messaging at the cost of good story and good characters regardless of race/gender, all for seemingly virtue signal points and ESG funding.
He-Man died after they tried to turn it into a girlbrand with She-Ra ... dolls and unicorns. The Toyline died, the shows died. You won't ever turn Barbie into a boy brand either. And there is no "modern audience", there is just the audience and you don't get to choose it... at least not when you work on established IP.
I don't believe Mulan would be lambasted as hard for being woke if it were released today; Mulan actually had a character arc. She had to hide her femininity and actually had to struggle to achieve her goals; she wasn't given respect, but had to earn it. She wasn't some butch mary sue type.. Her and every other character in that film were well written. That's what separates that film from the slop that gets released today.
Thank you, he and a lot of people are right that this current approach to making strong female characters isn't selling that is true, that is obvious just by looking at the numbers. But Mulan, I think would've been loved by today's audience I mean a lot of people still love Tangled's Rapunzel. And in the Anime community, there are so many female characters and so many of them are loved by their audience. Like really, Japan is way better at making likable strong female characters than the West is currently.
For example Ada from Resident Evil 4, not the remake (I haven't played it yet) was the definition of a strong woman or even a girl boss, but instead of imitating a man, she used the qualities of a woman to do so.
Naah you'd complain about it too. You'd complain about Alien too, no doubt about it. Art stops being "woke" when it starts to be perceived as good somehow. (And yeah, there definately is something like forced diversity in gaming industry. Just the idea that it's an issue for mature people is crazy)
You must be delusional to think there wouldn't be push back against Mulan with the incompetence of the men surrounding her still the same. Half of the discourse we get these days is literally about how fake these strong independent women characters are propped up by unrealistic and incompetent portrayals of men.
If they start using REAL brands on these multimillion and even BILLION dollar IPs, those brands will want a cut of that. It should be self explanatory to people
The product placements I thought were cool and add to the world building and time period that it's set in. When it comes to the character, as long as she has depth and being well written along with good voice acting I don't really care. I agree with what Bigfry said and don't want a character that is there to just push agendas and inclusivity, and gives devs an excuse just to shove that down our throats. I want a good game, with good game mechanics, a good story, and well thought out characters as well as good world building. Something that I can be happy spending my money on and not wanting to refund it.
im not a dev, but im pretty sure they could make it happen and secretly say it was part of the game from the start, and it would be better for them i think.
nahh, Druckmann already confirmed he made this character for himself, he is a vagrant narcissist, and Sony is about to learn their mistake by not casting him out after TLOF2 backlash.
@@JasonSinclair-zg2br That's your problem, we all know exactly what Norseman means. He’s sick of the vast amount of white washing that occurs. Whites are not represented in anything. And anything they are represented in they are weak, dumb and lesser. I’m sick of it too, and I think a lot of people are. We should be sick of it.
Sick of what? A character in a game? Do you even know what you are sick of or are you just repeating the narrative? Nobody even knows anything about this character yet.
@ sick of every form of media having to be over saturated with non whites and gay nonsense. Sick of an agenda fed into every aspect of entertainment and if we don’t just accept it and celebrate it we are racist bigot homophobes.
the over reaction is to the over saturation of these ideas which 90% of it feels forced and is immersion breaking so it has left a bad taste in peoples mouths
Naughty dog always delivers tho, my thing about preordering is built up trust. There’s like a handful of studios I preorder from and I’m never disappointed. They deliver a polished experience. Naughty dog is one of those studios.
All The Game Awards showed me was that Asian and indie studios are cooking (Fumito Ueda's Project Robot, Onimusha, Okami 2, Dotemu's Ninja Gaiden, RGG Studio's Virtua Fighter and Project Century.) while Western AAA continues to flounder.
i like the general vibe even tho gameplay is always what decides for me. What i really dont understand WHY they always have to make the character acting annoying and cheesy to look at? It's simply immersion breaking and I'm sick and tired of studios implementing something like this when the basic concept could actually be good. Whether it's agenda-driven or not is up for debate, but it might be. I just want to enjoy a story, have good gameplay, relax in a game and not think about politics in a story game or be propagated, why is that so hard in this day and age? Just leave it out.
I suspect the character is putting up a false front. She apparently likes edgy anime, so maybe she is copying how those kinds of characters behave because she has low self-esteem. So basically she starts out as a false confidence projecting delinquent type with a self-sabotaging streak and grows into a more authentic and confident person over the course of the story. That's my theory anyway.
4:20 the difference is that they are likely sponsored by Porsche and Adidas. The Sony one is harder to excuse. With guns, they have to purchase the licence to use them in the game. So with this example, they are benefiting from having the names in the trailer/game maybe, whereas with the gun names, they have to pay for them, meaning they are losing something for the real life gun names. I hope that makes sense haha
I feel like that's impossible to know without seeing the contracts though. Did Porsche reach out to ND/SONY? Or was it the other way around? I think unless I know that, I can't really make a judgement call on it.
Damn,@@BigfryTV, important context. I thought EA licensed guns in BF4, but don’t recall, I’m sure those little off-road ATVs paid money to be in 2042. Bad use of money and there IS an atv dealer by my house, whatever their name. ✌🏼🤣👍🏼
In terms of the character design, there is nothing that stands out as culture war bulllshit. She fits the vibe of the trailer. And I completely agree with the overreaction to all female character. Mirrors Edge is a fantastic game with a great female lead. In terms of the product placement, I agree where I actually like it. I grew up playing the old NFS games. Underground had McDonalds billboards. Most Wanted had Burger King billboards and had you use a Cingular phone. All of them have real car brand names for parts and decals. Its cool. I would much rather have product placement make the world more believable, than what EA wishes they could do with putting popup ads between matches of Madden.
I agree with you about gaming but I don't agree you gamers they're sick and tired of having the woke propaganda shoved down their throat and what the first thing that the woman who this is modeled on started talking about you guessed it alphabet nonsense and by the way this is from a gay man
On the AAA Scale: Yes. Welcome to Post Social Media Gaming. On the Indie Scale: AHAHAHAHAHAHA Look at these losers not playing Antonblast and YS X Nordics right now. Ohh how I pity them! 😂
The biggest point about Mulan is that she wasn’t ashamed of her feminine traits and only donned armor to save her father. She teamed up with a male counterparts without emasculating them looking at the viewer saying “I’m doing this for woman everywhere.” or anything similar. Have you noticed no one tearing apart games like Signalis which actually tells a story that everyone can relate with in aspects of relationships and authoritarianism despite being progressive.
... did you watch the movie? she has to hide her femininity to avoid expulsion from the army and possible jailing. Theres a entire sub theme of fighting for worth and against shame in a male dominated society as a woman. The movie did what you claimed it didnt, it was just more subtle about it xp. Her male squadmades are mostly idiots and clowns almost the entire movie.
yeah, its like ghost of weebishuma, do you become a monster and throw your honor away in order to play dirty and defeat your enemies to save your people? The west can write stories like this, so now the sequel is of course gonna be a girlboss character who looks exactly like this one and has the same attitude, its so tiring.
What makes you think the character is ashamed of femininity? Just seems like a sensible character design to me - space captain, probably has some military background, shaved/short hair would make sense to me.
@elvarchris481 yea that's Johnny Silverhand's signature car. It's been there since launch and they added a second with the 2.0 update that has a small quest attached to it.
Only car nerds would recognize those models. And Porsche didn't had a giant @ss logo in cyperpunk. Cyperpunk is base on reality just in the future. While this game is base on 80s cyperpunk.
To be fair, the porsche 911 isn't exactly the same level of forced branding, we've barely even seen much of anything gameplay related for intergalactic and we got 2 brands shown front and center and it feels really weird. While the porsches are also some of the very few real life cars in cyberpunk and one of them belongs to johnny silverhand who is an incredibly major and important character in the game so it feels special.
They didn’t hamfist their logo on to random things and made up vehicles in cyberpunk. They used a targa and a 911 sport model which are two real Porsche cars, and Johnny comes from a time where it makes sense for him to have a “vintage” car. This is more like “hey…’member us?? Look…perrsshhh”
Good for you. Though we can understand why you don't want to wade into the fray over woke and incels and shit. BUT, it's come to the point that it's now undeniable that the Hollywood/Game scene has been utterly taken over. And unless we speak up they will continue to pump out utter garbage. We need to make them scared to do this, and not buy their games. (Spoiler: Intergalactic will be terrible and bomb)
Media is getting more progressive, which leads to more varied and interesting character concepts. I, for one, am sick of every protagonist being a carbon copy of each other.
@@Aewon84 bro, it’s no different. most girl characters for these games are written like the 1980s male characters only difference being theyre even worse written and 10x more obnoxious than the male characters. I kinda wanna disagree with everyone. NOTHING IS OUT YET FOR THIS GAME. I have hopes for this game, I won’t hate on this game just because it has a female protagonist, (and before yall say it’s not that, it very much is, like I said before, there is NOTHING ABOUR THIS GAME THATS OUT YET, so how are yall already calling it “woke”). And I also seen this actor and her previous work, that’s just her style.
You should disagree with these people. You hit it on the head, there is nothing out about the game. It's instantly "woke" because the protagonist is not a white male. It's really unfortunate that this is the society we live in. People judging the game based on a minute trailer is just absurd.
Im curious if the discourse would have been the same if she wasnt bald and just had her nornal hair. If shes actually a bounty hunter I imagine she would want nothing getting in her way. I feel people are jumping the gun here, we dont really know anything about the character or how the story is going to be. Im in the same boat as you, theres valid criticism from consumers but a lot of it gets lost in a sea of rage that isnt always genuine. I played Veilguard and hated it, the writing was terrible and a lot of it was forced and didnt feel connected to the universe. But we literally dont know anything about this character yet so I'll reserve judgment until we know more about her and the writing. A lot of people fuming at this trailer are also fuming at Witcher 4 which doesn't make sense to me because Ciri was obviously set up to be the next protagonist and shes a monster hunter in a dark fantasy medieval world, grown up and matured and people are mad she looks rough around the edges. I just wish people would approach these games with a little bit of common sense and not group everything together. And I hated the TLOU2 as well, couldnt finish it, it was just too much back to back depressing shit and I didnt wanna play as abby at all. But there might be an amazing game here that people immediately wrote off because of a 1 minute trailer. Or maybe it is bad, I just feel like its too early to judge off this trailer.
intergalactic is up my alley in terms of the sci-fy setting. I don't really care who's the main character. My main concern right now, is can Neil Druckmann write a good story? And even if he can't, and is stuck in a TLOU2 mentality, will this game have addicting and hopefully innovative gameplay? There's a lot that can be done with Intergalactic and I hope something good does come from it.
I think this 80 sci-fi setting won't be executed well and coherent. It's just a bunch of 80s cliches put together to look "cool". The tone will be 100% wrong. Also from Uncharted and TLoU1 ND games didn't really have great gameplay. They had great adventure. So I don't expect great gameplay here. And adventure will be on the level on TLoU2.
@@Darius_Vi Yeah, people like @MrRainGaming are the ones promoting this woke agenda, obviously you need a good packaging to even sell a trash, you cannot sell trash in a trash can, people will see what it is. @Darius_Vi if you're depressed because "BaLd wAhMeN" is being put front and center of the game than you should seek professional help. Nobody likes pandering but Jesus get a grip. 😂
The red flags are intentionally leaving in the 4B shave, a trailer is a vid that can be cut/edited. Using an activist actor that has transmission praise quotes out there, everyone knows those will only be the tip of the iceberg. Setting n stuff, I'm with ya. Tragic studios put "educating" their customers first.
This conversation stopped being nuanced the second people started calling Ciri an ugly DEI protagonist. If CIRI is below your standards of quality and beauty, the standards are unrealistic and I'm talking to someone who thinks their opinion is objective.
'94 kid here, you articulated exactly how I felt and feel about the trailer and the on-going identity politics/ culture war. The trailer got me excited, the dialogue presented wasn't over the top or cringe and I didn't mind that she's bald. I immediately got the ick from Outlaws or Concord or Veilguard trailers, but not here. I genuinely hope, although I might disagree myself on the basis of artistic confidence and standing behind your product, that the devs give her a little glow-up to appease the audience that's so focused on the culture war and the anti woke agenda. Not because "the customer is always right" (because that proverbial saying is actually longer and highlights that taste is a matter of personal preference), but because we live in a time where these studios' livelihood depend on our money and it's time to allow for compromises between the transactional relationships between developers and their customers. It's okay to compromise to your customer if that means your studio gets to make another game and your employees get to keep their jobs. I've seen a photoshop or AI render image of the main character with hair, bigger boobs and more female facial features side by side and if that's going to sell more copies, then what the heck, who cares. Just do it.
Sex sells. People are far more willing to spend time and money if they’re going to be looking at something that’s good to look at. IT’S BASIC ECONOMICS AND MARKETING The problem is, is that these people are so insecure, that they don’t want to give players someone who is better to look at than themselves. It all boils down to insecurity, and bitterness and also stubbornness. Instead of listening to what the gamers want, they cover their ears and hurl insults at their prospective customers. What kind of customer service is that
For what it’s worth, I think her design fits the time period and setting. And let’s be honest how different is she really from males characters that have the same personality? What’s wrong with tomboys all of sudden? That’s obviously what she is and just because she’s not overly attractive or feminine doesn’t equal bad character design. I hope you the game turns out good tho 🤷♂️
because any normal dude with any T doesnt want to play a chick - I want to play a guy along the lines of snake plissken or even a han solo type from the original star wars. Chicks belong in the kitchen or nurses, by nature and that is where it will go again in the future. Chicks don't need to act like guys when we have guys for that.
Ita not always a win, especially when it happens before the game even releases, cod IW is arguably the biggest example. Fantastic game with one of the best campaigns, a decent multiplayer and a cool twist on zombies was hated instantly because of the setting of it. People hating because of the main characters appearance which isn't even that absurd as there are multiple examples of famous people who look similar is what kills fantastic games. A realistic masculine woman character only makes up a small portion of the game and shouldnt matter much in relation to the story and game performance. Of course it would make a difference if it was literally shoved down our throat but there is no way to tell that until we get a closer look at the game. There are many cases where fantastic games are review bombed and hated because of a tiny detail in it. I can also guarantee some of the hate being sent are also death threats that put the developers safety in jeopardy which does unfortunately happen and should not. While hate and pushback has its place it should only be addressed when there an in depth look of the game.
For me the problem with all the product placement is this. What happens if this is a digital only release and the day comes when the licenses for all this brand presence in the game has to be renewed? The risk is that no renewel will happen and the game can no longer be sold on digital store fronts and will eventually be lost to time. In other words, this inclusion is bad for game preservation. Just look at recent Forza titles that have to be delisted after about 3 years as an example, and after that amount of time the companies have gotten our money already so it is easier to just delist, rather than to put in the man hours required to perform the changes needed so that it can stay up.
@@dkone1980 Movies and TV shows too. Can't wait for whole episodes to be removed due to music licensing issues or editing "problematic" contet from the past based on the socially accepted norms of the current day.
This in my opinion is really the only valid criticism about the trailer. People being upset about the character are dumb as fuck. The product placement on the other hand is a valid concern. The Sony stuff is obviously not going anywhere, but the Adidas and Porsche, while it's cool to see some real branding in a fictional future, did they sign a lifetime agreement for the use of those brands in this game? I would hope so... It would really suck for the game to be out for 5 years, and it being a hit, and one day there's an update and the Adidas and Porsche logo's disappear.
Those who has money and power, will control the media hence the masses. Sadly this just things going to be in the future, Asia also slowly infected. Easy to control mindless audiences

ratio'd to the ground as it should be, its crazy how a decade ago they had no negativity til TLOU2, really shows how one idea can kill a brand this is the reason they removed seeing downvotes on TH-cam, its to hide its mediocrity, anything negative is seen as "wrong think" to these big corpos
@@spacecowboy5486 so honest critics is "toxic"? But if they know gamers react this way, and they make a game for gamers - why don't they make the one that makes them happy? Why does ND actively hate their audience?
I mean Neil Druckman himself has said he started to make The Last of Us with a “secret agenda” in mind, he did an entire seminar on it. Which is fine. But the kicker for me is the lack of authenticity. You’re now creating tokenized, contrived representations of people in your games now that there is a economical, political and social incentive to do so when you weren’t before for 20+ years. That’s personally what I dislike. I don’t know if that’s the case with Intergalactic, but I’m wary of Naughty Dog now after Neil has made his intentions clear and after some of the social preaching that was present in TLoU2.
I'm genuinely not seeing anything here yet that makes me "SNIFF OUT" wokeness. Its a person. A person i can imagine fitting the role of a strong independent lead. If they're well written and compelling, and its engaging and fun to play? (And its Naughty dog, It will be) Then it'll sell and review well, and the noisy "anti-woke"-ers can be ignored. When you automatically drag your emotional culture war stuff into things that haven't done anything to deserve it yet, you kinda spoil the sentiment. Check yourself.
The reason the internet is roasting this trailer is obvious. TLOU 1: Great, heartfelt story about a man who lost his daughter and found himself again by taking in and caring for Ellie. It's obvious that Ellie is gay, within the narrative of the game, but it's just a side point, it's not the whole point of her character, she's just a very well written character. Nobody cared that she was gay, and everyone loved the levels where Ellie had to step up and care for Joel when he was wounded. Very well done. TLOU 2: Kills the only male lead immediately. Primary antagonist is a steroid infused butch lesbian. Main characters are reduced to arguing about having sex with men and pregnancy and abortion. Supporting character is a "trans" kid who an oppressive religious cult rejected. Niel Druckmann has been outspoken in his attempt to force more of that into everything he does, and at the same time, a lot of talented people....jumped ship. With that as a background....it's hardly surprising that people are assuming things (correctly, IMO.) Yeah, the main character is a racially indeterminate something who shaves her head, and she's making snarky comments to lesbian-solid-snake. And it's clearly a rip-off of Guardians and Cowboy Beebop. There's product placement though, I'm sure that'll win over at least...2 or 3 people?
Sorry, although your comment is filled to the brim with common sense and reasoning it'll only ever get a miniscule amount of likes due to the truth it speaks. Ill try and help the number get bigger. 😊
@@orbitingdecay6797 Oh yeah, I love their earlier stuff. The entire Uncharted series is absolute gold and I grew up with Crash on PS1. I was just pointing out that it was during the TLOU era where the original folks jumped ship and Druckmann steered the company into an iceberg made of nope.

The whole thing with the (main?) character design is that it's not that it's a woman in a video game, it's that we have seen this script before, we know what comes next and how it ends. There is only so many times you can shame us and bait us before we know what's up, and are rightly suspicious.

As a gamer you're looking at the anti woke movement if you want to call it the wrong way. It's less about "diversity inclusion" and more about immersion. I love games, movies and entertainment that is immersive. That requires a fair about of BELEIVABLE storytelling. If you sacrifice the immersion for a virtue signaling character or story arch, it breaks the immersion. Just one opinion.

People can avoid or pretend like the whole "culture war" is not happening or not be important enough to be happening throughout entertainment industry but there is a clear reason why eastern made entertainment like movies, manga, anime and video games are being widely praised and accepted over western made movies, comics, cartoons and video games. The east simply seeks to entertain the customer while the west seeks to lecture, virtue signal and belittle anyone who they deem doesn't share the creatives narrow world views. One of my favorite game characters is Lara Croft, problem here is we all know where this is heading another female lead made to look manly with huge arms no hair, and a downgraded version of her irl look. She’s quite pretty, so I don’t get it. I also wanna state when are people gonna realize Druckman is the JJ Abraham of video games, he has been riding off the coat tails of peoples work. TLOU 2 slightly showed this and this is suppose to be all his we will see.
Obviously there are some toxic reasons why this game has been getting downvoted but I also think people are just sick of Sony third person action adventure titles. Spiderman, God of War, Uncharted, Last of Us, Ghost of Tsushima, etc. Can Sony ask their devs to try something else out for once?
He was looking at technical stuff but forgot about the key elements of game design. The setting, the art direction, and the fact that your character sells the game. The buttons didn’t do anything when she pressed them mate.
i mean.. she just shaved her hair.. looks like a soldier girl. Preparing to go fight like a badass. Theres plenty of bald woman in movies when they played a badass and nobody cared. Its not like if she was calling herself a He or they them or that kind of bs in the trailer, she's just a badass. I think people are overreacting way to much tbh.
Yea lets just ignore Neil Duckman, the guy behind's TLOF2's propaganda, lets ignore him saying that he wants more diversity in his games, how he has a fetish for woman that look like strong men, how the actor of this game comes forward and tells us that we MUST embrace trans people. You guys are right, nothing to see here, nothing woke, no DEI push here... Bruh
@@ZanarkandFFXwtf is propaganda in this context? He wanted to write a story about revenge and identity and guilt and zombies, so he did that. Dragon Age writers have always included very gay storylines, romances, touched on social issues in their games - nothing new here. What you’re assuming is propaganda or rainbow capitalism, in most cases, just writers deciding to write things that resonate with them.
My friends and I were watching this on Discord, and I shit you not the only thing we found interesting about the trailer was the *_ANIME_* she was watching on T.V. I don't even know how you found *_"The premise of the Game"_* interesting. No disrespect to you at all BGF- *BUT WHAT PREMISE DID YOU EVEN SEE???* I'm genuinely curious. Are you just talking about being in Space? Cuz that's all we saw in the trailer.
Mulan is a level of badass female I wish we could return to. A character with flaws who fought tooth and nail to overcome them. A character who defied the norms of society - not because they see themselves as a victim - but because they wanted to do the right thing for their family.
Lara Croft, Ada Wong/Jill/Claire, Aloy, Ciri, Kassandra, and other tons of femal protags. in recent games. All of them are written well, without shoveling the bullcr4ps in the mix. Is it really that hard to create a normal human?
There’s an irony when people say they don’t want forced character designs that adhere to a “woke” ideology. But want a big titty long hair attractive woman with a perky ass forced into games.
That's not what irony means my dude. And your statement doesn't back up anything "ironic" that you posited. You literally just tried to compare two completely different things. Absolutely no one is "forcing" attractive women into games...or maybe you just are asleep. Everyone is "forcing" this DEI nonsense into games. Remind me where the irony is in your statement again?
The difference is there's an audience for attractive women in games. It's called the majority of normal men and women. Men like seeing them & women like playing as them. Whereas this bold ugly masculine woman that constantly gets pushed in the media & games...? Who actually wants it? Who is asking for this? Maybe a handful of psycho's on social media, at best.
@AFatalPapercut it’s ironic because the same people complaining about “woke” ideology being pushed into games want their own “anti-woke” ideology pushed in games. Just look at The Witcher 4, it seems like your guys’ hobby is to just shit on games.
Just calling a game 'woke' overshadows genuine conversations about gameplay, story, or mechanics. Games evolve to reflect the world we live in, just like any art form, and including diverse characters or themes doesn’t mean there’s an agenda. We should be talking about whether a game is fun, engaging, and well-made.
Whether you like to admit or not, this is not the sentiment of the majority, and rightfully so. games like this with kind of blatant progressive messaging, turn out to be garbage, always. But then the modern audience points to games like gta, that gta is woke, no it’s not, not even in the slightest, it’s diverse and very well-written but not woke, and that’s something the modern audience and the right wing group fail to distinguish.
This is by modern Naughty Dog studio and them stating back in 2020 "We don't use the word fun" when it comes to games. So I don't need to use the word Woke if I already know the type of games I'm gonna get myself into from this studio.
@rohdger3390 who says they are the majority we live in a society that has a negative bias. For example if you post a picture of yourself and get 10 good comments and 1 bad comment that 1 bad comment is the one you'd zero in on. If you have 10 good comments and 10 bad comments you'll zero in on the bad comments. With social media being so influential it's the negative comments that grab the most engagement. So what happens is people badwagon behind those comments when they see them reinforced they feel validated it gives them confirmation bias. You can't tell me what the game is about but you cant tell me it's "woke" based on what you fear, hate or what you deem as negative. This negative bias ignores what really matters. Noone is speculating about what this game is about it's just people dumping on what they dont want the game to be.
@@Underground3 so when you go back and look at what was said he says they are focused on making games engaging. With richer stories Ratchet and Clank was a fun game that wasnt a success for them The Last of Us was. Ratchet and Clank the movie bombed Last of Us the TV successful.
The brand placement came off like paid ads. I'ts one thing to satirize a real product or brand like GTA, or to use a real life sports team or weapon in a game where you're supposed to be using that thing. But it's another when it's just a real brand slapped on something that doesn't exist. Plus, I love it when games have their own companies and products, and you can learn more in-game about those. I think the backlash shows that they did the branding wrong. It can be done well, but this wasn't it. As far as the character, I like that actor from TV shows, so it was great to see her acting here in the game.
Here is the thing about tolerance. Everyone is somewhat tolerant to things they don't know or don't like, maybe 30% tolerant. If you explain to them stuff and show it's not a big deal, their tolerance might increase to 50% or even 60%. But the moment you start saying that isnt enough, they gotta not only be more tolerant but also promote the thing they're just trying to tolerate while calling them a bigot or a nazi, the tolerance drops to 10% or even 0% That's what they did. Our tolerance for this crap and tolerating their ignorance of reality is done for. Now, I'm personally down to 10%, even if a game has some woke-like shit in it, I will still look at it and give it a fair chance by watching others play. But the gameplay better be damn good for me to buy it despite the other content. And that's where we are at.
I don’t necessarily agree with that, it’s more like the tolerance is 50%, then, the insulting begins and the tolerance is below 0. What you said was probably true 8 years ago, but not now
If you think you're being forced to tolerate something, then you should stop exposing yourself to what you're intolerant of or try to become the change you want to see. It's pretty simple.
@ very confidently said, when that’s becoming a majority. meaning, it’s harder to avoid exposing yourself to that when it’s bleeding into franchises you love/used to love. And if people were to suddenly tolerate this rot, somehow there would be meaningful change? No, that’s not how the world works. It would actually do the opposite effect, hate would grow and grow until we’re essentially back in 1950s
@@IllemDaFunk Problem is, this minority has coalesced into cities where most of entertainment is made. And also into HR departments to make themselves needed. So they are effectively destroying entire industries with their bullshit thanks to us trying to be nice and once upon a time tolerated cancel culture because we wanted to help these minorities. Turns out, these minorities are composed of complete insane assholes for the most part. So you can't avoid a lot of it, specially in the things we used to like. They destroyed star wars, witcher, dnd, mechwarrior, magic the gathering, lord of the rings and many more. So yeah, games will fail, entire industries will perish, franchises we once liked will turn to dust, and we will consume eastern media and games because it is for the most part free from the bullshit. Good job westerners.
You do realize that Druckman has a history with bad writing. Last of us part 2 being a prime example where his pacing was all over the place. As a result making us hate Abby before we got to know her side. In my case causing me to lose interest. People were not as angry over the trailer as much as finding out that Neil was heading it. Is it too much to ask for something more entertaining and not preachy?
12:06 - It’s set in the 80s but an ALTERNATIVE UNIVERSE version. In this version of the 80’s, they’ve discovered hyper drive light speed travel. So why not just have major culture war stuff in this alternative universe too?
Hopefully writing is good because the setting looks cool as fuck. I don't mind the character as long as it makes sense... At least this one looks actually physically strong, and is not a petite punching stormtroopers in the helmet and knocking them out (Outlaw) or a 440 pound doctor running and jumping around (Concord).
damn, a trailer about nothing, essentially and people lose their shit. I understand that people are sick and tired of the DEI trend, but my brother in Christ there is nothing happening in this trailer. MFs with crystal balls here in the comments be like "this shit dead" from a video showing a girl going into space, saying 5 generic lines. Naughty Dog got a bad track record, ok. Interest lost. Fine. Just watch reviews, u see its shit, don't buy it. So much energy wasted on nothing smh. Wouldn't you rather put your passion into the games you DO like?
I think it’s a pattern recognition thing. Now I don’t necessarily agree with people jumping to conclusions maybe the game will be great, maybe it will bomb, We’ll have to find out but I think it’s important to acknowledge how it’s been the last couple of years with the push of DEI, and other agendas, not saying that the game is doing that, I’m just acknowledging a pattern. You see a character like this, and because of patterns people think it might lead to pandering dialogue, clear identity politic bias like Vanguard. I’m hoping I’m wrong, I’m hoping that it’s good but I also think it’s important to recognize patterns like that, but also not to jump to conclusions so quick so we’ll have to find out how it actually is. I’m a little apprehensive because of how TLOU PT 2 turned out for me so I’ll wait on this one. hopefully, this is a good character, that has great story, and overall fun experience.
Love how you described the "use of real names/branding" problem as something that you just do or don't, it's a "dev thing", a "culture war". Like the millions of dollars and/or lawsuits behind that kind of branding is just non existent.
To the comments section we go.
Dude what you mean the animated Mulan would be called girl boss. She actually had build up from to nothing to something. We would be insulting new Mulan and not the old one.

Also they started this shit first ruining our favorite game and movies franchise and memories from them to something not even same anymore.
Because of them and many others things and people have shifted to right because we had enough woke crap from everything.
Gamers are fighting back
lol

How do we make a strong woman archetype
@@jmgonzales7701A woman that is completely masculine in both attitude and design.
Her attitude is defined by emasculating man and there is usually no character development due to her abrasive traits being idealized.

It's 80 retro filter only still gonna be very modern audience
@flying1dead155 Maybe. But yes, it's very much a modern audience game. Which is a shame. It could be a good game.

Im going to go out on a limb and say you didnt actually watch the trailer, and just read a game article with a picture of her.
I think you have to remember when it comes to product placement is how well it actually fits into the game’s setting. COD and GTA are meant to be modern day settings in worlds that try to mimic what we would think as the “real world”. Intergalactic is a Sci-fi, possibly fantasy, and we don’t even know if earth is still around or even exists in the property, so it’s really weird seeing modern day brands and product placement despite the fact that most brands today will be dead and gone in a century, either bought out, broken up, or rebranded into something new
It's simple, don't pre order. Wait til it comes out, read reviews then decide if you want to buy the game.

Do strong female protagonists need to be this ugly? My mother and sister thought this was a man.
The problem is we’re calling woke off the most minute of things constantly. Saying older Ciri is DEI is dumb as hell full stop.
True, but in this case it seems like an apt description of this game.
If they start using REAL brands on these multimillion and even BILLION dollar IPs, those brands will want a cut of that. It should be self explanatory to people

Mirrors Edge is a fantastic game with a great female lead. In terms of the product placement, I agree where I actually like it. I grew up playing the old NFS games.

_"I don't really care who's the main character. My main concern right now, is can Neil Druckmann write a good story?"_ This is just depressing😐😞

IT’S BASIC ECONOMICS AND MARKETING
The problem is, is that these people are so insecure, that they don’t want to give players someone who is better to look at than themselves.
It all boils down to insecurity, and bitterness and also stubbornness.
Instead of listening to what the gamers want, they cover their ears and hurl insults at their prospective customers.
What kind of customer service is that
I had no clue that the actor for lalo Salamanca was in this game lmaooo
Whether or not the woke hate is warranted. Any woke hate/push back is a win for the gaming industry
The more people complain about things that don’t really matter, the less seriously they’re taken
Complaining about nothing then, there is nothing woke about this in the slightest.
Even as a small boy, me and my friends would pretend we're androgynous Chinese lesbians.
Just look at recent Forza titles that have to be delisted after about 3 years as an example, and after that amount of time the companies have gotten our money already so it is easier to just delist, rather than to put in the man hours required to perform the changes needed so that it can stay up.
this is also why gamers should insist on buying their games phisical.

So because of incels I can’t have what is basically Jenette Vasquez as a main character? By today’s logic Aliens (an 80s movie) is woke trash.

We don’t live in a world of bald Asian women 😂

Because it's in nearly every western game now, political statements in your will just alienate half your audience
Here is the thing about tolerance. Everyone is somewhat tolerant to things they don't know or don't like, maybe 30% tolerant. If you explain to them stuff and show it's not a big deal, their tolerance might increase to 50% or even 60%. But the moment you start saying that isnt enough, they gotta not only be more tolerant but also promote the thing they're just trying to tolerate while calling them a bigot or a nazi, the tolerance drops to 10% or even 0%
That's what they did.
Is it too much to ask for something more entertaining and not preachy?
did you forget the last of us 2????? because it sure seems like you forgot how woke that trash was.
Bossy lesbian girl fighting the patriarchy, we can't stand this anymore
Can’t wait to not buy it
12:06 - It’s set in the 80s but an ALTERNATIVE UNIVERSE version.
^ this.
its not though, its just 90s nostalgia.
Stellar Blade won't be worried by this shit
incoming comment about " incels "
@@NashNash-r1r lol
damn, a trailer about nothing, essentially and people lose their shit.
Is that the pilot from alien romulus?
No but the girl who played the pilot was the same actor as lev from the last of us 2
