@@petergriffin5256yes they can. So basically this game could be using a lot of shadow maps which would significantly make performance better. But the thing is, it requires more advanced shadow map tech and time spent to reach raytracing quality. Although this statement is negligible, because games using raytracing today are using techniques that involve a huge amount of noise, smear, or ghosting. Which could mean shadow maps if implemented enough could actually provide better lighting effects than raytracing(with current hardware). As these three all actually agreed that this game looks extremely clear compared to other titles, more so UE5 titles

The Decima engine Guerlla Games created is definitely up there with Naughty Dog in terms of graphical fidelity. They're one of graphics kings too, since the ps3, but Naughty Dogs animation still looks more fluid and life like.
Not even Rockstar? I disagree. Rockstar is just as good and their games are far larger in terms of explorable environments, so it makes Rockstar's presentation quality even more impressive.
@@GTS-Olivier If you're talking about the Last of Us part 1 (the remade version for the PS5 and modern PC Turing GPUs), then I would have to agree. I replayed that on PC recently after playing the original on PS3 back when it came out. It is breathtakingly beautiful, and you can tell Naughty Dog did a ton of engineering work to make the faces look more realistic in the cutscenes than the original PS3/PS4 version. On that version, yes, it surpasses Red Dead 2 even if you compare Red Dead 2 on PC with maxed settings. But for fair comparison, which would be the Last of Us that was remastered for PS4, I don't know if I'd say that - at least from what I've seen in TH-cam clips. I don't disagree that Naughty Dog is extremely good with this stuff, but Red Dead 2 was also a giant open world game that was extremely ambitious visually for the consoles it had to run on, the weakest of which being the Xbox One VCR. Having a ton of other things to render with a seamless open world on such a limited VRAM budget with the PS4 and Xbox One being target hardware, that requires concessions to be made across the board, particularly with high detail character rendering which can be very expensive computationally. The last of Us is a much more contained, linear kind of game obviously, so the rendering pipeline can be much more focused on things like accurate facial animations and accurate shading on said faces, etc. For the comment about animation work, I think Rockstar is just as good. Red Dead 2 is insane with the number of interactions animated accurately and fluidly, and the horse animations in RDR2 were masterfully done and probably won't ever be surpassed by another game for a very long time, if ever. Edit: If Rockstar Remade RDR2 in the same way Naughty Dog Remade the Last of Us Part 1, I think it would have the same presentation quality.
Absolutely. Even without PT, for a game that requires RT capable GPUs, the game is missing effects from the PS3/Xbox360 era in some scenes. During the intro level running the game on max settings there are a lot of places where the game seems to lack any kind of global illumination. Everything that isn't lit by direct sun light is just completely dark. For a game so static as this Indiana Jones you would hope for at least some basic light maps to take care of that.
Uncharted avoided the uncanny valley. They gave the characters a sense that they were alive. Indiana Jones falls straight into the uncanny valley like Senua 2, because the heads are too photorealistic for the bodies. It looks like the actors face has been planted on a doll, without all the incredibly expressive facial animations in Uncharted 4.
I don't get this. Uncharted might be more well considered in a lot of ways, but certainly it's lighting doesn't look better than indiana Jones? Having well considered aesthetic choices is not what ray tracing gives you, it's better lighting, and in that sense, Indiana Jones stumps all over uncharted. The only way to get the "uncharted 4", or "rdr 2" look is to give an world class team way more development time and money anyone else in the industry is getting, and if your game doesn't headline an entire console generation in terms of impact, you can kiss goodbye to your studio for having terrible ROI.
7:15 it looks like her shadow darkens the shadows of the photos on the wall, which wouldn't happen with shadows cast from the same light source. Since this is a cutscene with static lighting, they might have used baked shadows for the static geometry and blurred her shadow to make it soft. I.e. very old school. Looking forward to more gameplay footage.
The trailer looks good imo. Im ready for more on this title. TLOU part 1 and 2 are some of my favorite games of all time. A new game from NaughtyDog is a welcome thing from me. Still hoping for TLOU part 3 next.

If the leaks are accurate, I don't think there will be any planet hoping. Jordan crash lands on a planet and the whole game takes place on the planet as she tries to escape. I like the fact that Intergalactic is not pretending to be No Man's Sky like Starfield, and failing due to the load screen simulator. This game appears to be a unique creation and grounded on a single planet. Regarding the pristine render quality, I have faith that it is achievable. ND do not lie. They just deliver. Uncharted 4 and TLOU 2 looked like next gen even on a PS4 Pro, so they are clearly masters at maximising PlayStation hardware ...lol looking at the thumbnail, Jordan looks like Oliver's sister.

Even tho i don't like the direction druckman puts his studio in, i do think the people there are amoungst the most skilled developers in the industry and can put this off on the base ps5
@@petergriffin5256yes they can. And the thing the guy on the left was trying to imply that maybe raytracing isn’t such a huge deal although the other guys would disagree so he couldn’t actually bring out that point.

No one touches Naughty Dog when it comes to graphical fidelity and animations. Not even Rockstar. Cant wait for this one. Day one.
@CJP.-pq3kr It's some good Kool-aid
@@BasePuma4007Naughty Dog absolutely smokes Rockstar when it comes to fluidty and facial animation. Just compare a cutscene with Arthur and Ellie.

Im pretty sure Uncharted 4 looks better than this years RTraced Indiana Jones 😊
Especially in character models, I've played IJ on a 4080 super and the faces are a generation behind a game that came out in 2016
@@basedplants Haha yes! They look like plastic doll faces sometimes
ND don't lie.

When you talked about the shadows, you know smething is fishy... Too good to be true...
