Mike if you strip down put new bearings ect and when stripped give a through er clean polish for the cost of bearings when you come to sell you will make so much more folded stuff buddy these are sought after its wirth going that extra mile and restore all the best and a great find.😊

Cheers for the comment.. I sold this a few months back now. Just a simple clean then out the door. The new owner was really chuffed. I believe he's plans are to detail it in it's current state. No new bearings, just leave as is

Nice! Was a Raleigh Mirage for me in 1989.... With the crappy biopace crankset too 😆

I remember the mirage.. I don't know which MTB it was (I had a couple back in the late 80's but I do remember one had a really noisy crank.. )

Just picked one up this morning, cost me £30 all with original parts just needs a clean. I wanted one back in the day finally got one 35 years later !! should last a while and better than a £200 price tag for a standard MTB .

100%.. even if you run the lizard into the ground you'll only be down £30. Makes financial sense. Cheers for the comment

the writing and lizard image are under some sort of poly-lacquer so they don't get damaged in normal use.

You should do a video on the Raleigh avalanche MTB from the early 1990s
I own one I still use it now it's mostly original the brakes are from last June and it's getting new tires and rims hopefully on Monday and my Raleigh avalanche MTB is like the 90s Toyota hilux the top gear tried to destroy but wouldn't die
My Raleigh avalanche is the same I do about 15 miles or more on it per week and it still works they are very good

    • @dealermike1331
      @dealermike1331  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

Great comment. I grew up with Raleigh bikes, my brother and sister, even my parents all had Raleigh. Great bikes. When I was getting the paint for the fizzy I looked at the new bikes... So expensive. To think that lizard cost me £20 and only needs very slight adjustment.. I would happily do 15 miles a week on the lizard. I'll keep an eye out for an avalanche

@@dealermike1331 my Raleigh Avalanche was free it was sitting in my sisters back garden and she said if you can get it going you can have it I got it going within an hour or so
It had been sitting for over a year The chain was seized and stuck solid and the tires were flat
      I used vegetable oil I didn't have WD40
And the chain and gears were running like new the day after I went to halfords got new inner tubes and replaced the tires with some off another mountain bike and I managed to ride it to the other side of town about 2 miles without a problem the week after I rode to the next town over that's 10 Miles
I've ridden it on paths roads rugged trails mud boggy grass fields floods it does them well plus it has a suspension seat so it's comfortable too
I've even broken the speed limit on it I rode down a road on a hill which is a 20 zone I managed to to 30 mph on it

You're ok mate... Someone commented last night, it contained offensive words, I accessed it, replied politely then it got removed. Certain people ruin it for the rest of us. If someone adds abusive or offensive language then it'll affect all further comments until I enable them again. One was held for review, I found that from 4 weeks back, that was just offensive. Everyone is entitled to have a view but when it becomes offensive then it's not welcome

@dealermike1331 Well you know it'll never be me being offensive. ❤️😁 I said in my comment yesterday you should keep the Lizard, they're nice to ride around on in the summer. I fitted a 20 quid pair of puncture resistant tyres from ebay onto my one. 👍

It's the way it is.. anyway, yeah the lizard is a bit dated and has no major value, it's probably worth 80 pounds but for me it's that nostalgia and it genuinely rides really well. That bike cost me £30, such a bargain and by having access to the barn where the grifter was that enabled me to have a rummage.
