  • I was able to get on a frozen lake today to put the Jiffy Torch to work drilling some holes in the ice.
    Wow, was I impressed. The Ripper Blades cut through like mad and was easy on the wrists. The Torch was an awesome new tool in the ice fishing arsenal.

    Just a tip, after you tighten your drill chuck, turn it back a little bit, and you will feel it lock the chuck. No more dropped auger!

    Chuckling...the fun got good to you...glad you didn't cut too many in one spot. Don't want to see your hat floating in a giant polar plunge scene. Cool tool. I think I will add one to my gear. Nice video. Smiling, George.

    Thanks for the review and info. By the way at 6:00 You demonstrated drilling two overlapping holes (showing the benefit of having a centre point), but on your entire video I could not see/find how the overlapping holes you drilled looked like:-)

    • @BulatOutdoors
      @BulatOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doesn't sound like its working any harder then usual when I'm drilling with speed bits or hole saws at work, It's just right beside the microphone on my chest

      @@BulatOutdoors if you were to test it out against a shaver type blade auger, you would hear a distinct difference, but that's the sacrifice you make when using a chipper blade (slower and requires more torque). Just be careful, when you start smelling the elec burning and see some smoke, those drills will burn out if you work them too hard, especially the DeWalt, they don't have much for overload protection, which is nice because it will work harder for you without kicking out, but makes it easier to turn them into a brick if you aren't careful.

    I was out testing this same auger yesterday on the ice, 7 inches of solid clear ice, no issues, I scored mine for $100 cad. What size battery you using on that DeWalt? I was using a ridgid hammer drill with a 4ah battery yesterday, drilled 3-4 holes, still had a fully charged battery after. We shall see how she does in 20+ inches of ice come mid January. Lol

    • @BulatOutdoors
      @BulatOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What a deal you got. I run a 5ah. I always keep the battery in my tent or side by side to keep it out of the elements once she gets cold out

    • @peterm3159
      @peterm3159 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BulatOutdoors ya that's my plan as well or keep it tucked in my bibs, I have two sets of these Ridgid drills and four 4ah batteries so I'm not sure if it's worth upgrading to the 6ah max output battery just for this, I guess we will see when the deep ice gets here in central Canada.

    • @BulatOutdoors
      @BulatOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m in Alberta and didn’t have any issues last season with my batteries. I guess it depends on how much ice, how many holes you drill and how strong/old you batteries are but having as many as you do you’re likely ok with what you have
