    Hey Jay! Great video as always! We got the Strikemaster 40v 8" for this year and love it so far, but I love the idea of the pistol bit auger! I wish I could use my ice skates up here in AK, but there's about a foot of snow on every lake 😂

    Back in the 2013-2014 Season I bought a Milwaukee Fuel 7xx in/lb drill with the XC4.0 batteries. I did a similar test as you but with a 6" Strikemaster Lazer. I was able to cut 80 holes through 12" of ice on one 4.0 battery. The drill and batteries still working flawless to this day. The 8" auger is a bit more taxing on the setup for sure but we don't need that size auger around this area since we Primarily pan fish in the Michigan/Indiana area. Either way Nice video and Thanks for sharing!!

If I had to suggest a video I would love to see you do tips trick for bluegill. Not very many people makes videos of them but it’s one of the most targeted fish here in Wisconsin. Jay this video is PERFECT 😃 This is a video that everyone will love and want to see. On top of that you have the the beat brand with your setup on everyrhing. Milwaukee is king everyone who uses them for everyrhing not just for screws knows this and Eskimo brings a product that year after year will be hard to beat the reliability and wear and tear.. Great content as per usual👍👍 the cherry on top was the ice skating to your spot👌😁

    Nice video Jay! Just throwing out a tip… If you have a small cooler and a microwavable muscle therapy bag “AKA microwaved bag of dry rice” or some handwarmers, put it together with your batteries to keep them as close to room temperature as you can to get the most life out of them out on the ice. The batteries will lose efficiency if they get too cold.

    Have the original pistol bit since 2018 with Dewalt 996 and clam plate . The best ever cut tons of holes no prob even through 30 plus inches of ice same blades. 11 lbs vs 10 inch Jiffy at 36lb!! No gas no mess!! Only problem is original had no center point . Have to watch on glare ice that it doesn’t take off and skate on you. No prob here !! A 10 inch would be nice!! Thanks for the vid !!!

    I purchased a Proyama auger, I've been using a friends old hand auger and finally decided to buy a one, under $100, how could you go wrong. Its unbelievable! I hooked it up to my DeWalt XR 20v drill and it will cut through 12 inchs of ice in less then 15 seconds! I drilled around 20 holes with a 2ah battery! Even using the hand crank it cuts good! I will never go back to using a hand auger after using this setup with a drill. Awesome Price, Awesome Performance, Awesome Product!

    I have a, must be a year older model, Milwaukee M18 Fuel and my 8" Eskimo auger with adapter sheared off the t handle clamp after about a dozen holes. I could replace the T handle but it actually sheared off the grips on the drill body where the clamp attaches to. I made sure it was tight and secure before drilling every time but it has a much smaller clamp than your drill does. They must have changed the drill design because it was a breaking point. So this year I opted for a Ion R1

    • @lucasbrown8775
      @lucasbrown8775 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did the same thing this year. the T handle is not designed for that much torque i guess. i think i am going to get the clam plate because of this, also i have had problems with cheap adaptors.

    Hi I have the same drill and auger. With the 12amp hour battery and I was able to drill 127 holes in 8" of ice. For drilling ice, the minimum battery you want to use is the 5 amp hour battery and I find with the bigger batteries, they work better for ice auguring, by providing more power than the smaller batteries.

    I’m surprised you didn’t mention it but if been looking for a bit that is good for drilling multiple holes together. It seems the pistol bit has similar blade design as the hand auger I’m using with an adapter right now. I just find it hard to drill my 2 holes together without the spike in the middle to start it like the k drill has for example. Thanks for the video tho jay, the m18 fuel drill is definitely perfect 👌🏻

    Have to keep in mind those are rapid drills that you wouldn’t be doing while you’re out on the lake fishing. Drilling that many so fast also heats up the whole drill setup and the battery dies quicker that way

Trying to find something that is quick to put on and not expensive. Yaktrax Summit, Stabilicer Hike Macro or a crampon style is what I'd like to see. These two have a steel plate with spikes bent down like my xtr's.

Was able to get 54 holes in 14 inches of ice on the first battery, and 52 out of the secound on a test day when i purchased them. Cant beat the lightness of these drill augers. I ended up getting the 24v strikemaster, and it's pretty good, I'd say about 7.5/10. Twice as heavy as this setup, but only $400 USD and it would do more than twice as many holes as the drill and bit.

    • @bobalong1952
      @bobalong1952 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Curious how the 24 volt will perform in dead of winter with 24-30" ice. I was looking at getting a 24 v but just not sure.

    • @ExtraFancy96
      @ExtraFancy96 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bobalong1952 so here's how my experience last winter went. It would drill about 25 holes in that 24-30" of ice range. That is with the 8" bit. Kept the battery warm in an inner coat pocket if it was gonna sit for a while. One quirk I did notice is every 10" of ice drilled or so I would wanna pull the auger out of the hole and clear the ice out otherwise it would bog down and actually stop drilling. Guess the older Ions had that problem too. Not a big deal for me, just a quick pop up while keeping it spinning did the trick. Can't say I fished in anything colder than probably -10F to -15F.

    • @MNLoveOutdoors
      @MNLoveOutdoors 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the 24v. 6 and 8" bits with it. And with the 6" on around 10-12" of ice in mid-teen temps and keeping the battery warm in between use in my bib, I don't think I got more than 40-50 holes a battery. Think they over advertised the number of holes you can actually get per battery.
      I used the 8" for early ice this season on 10" of ice on Upper Red and got around 25 holes a battery. Think I couldve got more out of my Milwaukee drill tbh.
      If it was a 30v battery it would've been perfect.

    That setup is the shit. I calculated 2 at 7" is a foot plus 2" so 36 holes is 18 feet plus 36" so about 21 feet of holes. The Googans used a shotgun, which is why I started watching them.

    I got beat with my 8” gas by the same auger he’s got wielded by a 20V dewalt. My gas was a gift so I still use it

    Just wanted to update this review. Year 4, with a bit of sharpening I'm still thrilled with this Auger! This is an excellent Auger. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxe0I-fnTUByahTCyStrIBXsesSkQJKn8n It splits to 1/2 size for storage in the warm months and easily assembles for winter use. I can cut holes in less than a minute by and really don't feel the need to ever adapt this to use with a drill. It cuts easily with the included blades (which can be sharpened or replaced as needed) and has held up extremely well through last season, and now for the first cuts of this season. I do recommend this to anyone who asks, and personally prefer this over powered augers. These are quiet, still quite fast, lighter, and don't risk spilling chemicals into our waterways. I plan to do a lot of fishing this year through the ice, thanks to this trusty Auger. The 8" diameter is great for fishing pike through the ice as well.

    By far pistol is the lightest to run n gun. The strikemaster a little heavier for me but does cut faster. K drill good for reopening old holes or overlapping
