I've been out ice fishing quite a few times this year on 3 inches of super clear ice. I'm lucky I get to ice fish instead of work since I had a freak accident and needed a lot of surgeries. It has been a blast catching giant crappies, sunnies, jumbo perch, big pike, and some nice walleye. I'm getting kinda exhausted though catching a bunch of fish and just want to get back to work.

It’s wet in there because we flooded the ice with water to make the ice clear. That ice is safe to fish on or we wouldn’t be on it. The camera angles make the ice look thin but there is plenty of ice there. Always follow safe ice charts and check the ice for yourself before you go out!
In Switzerland we have a fish called Zander. It seems to be a related fish with the Walleyes in the US. Are they also preferring more dirty water? Do they prefer to hunt when its dark or when there is not to much light?

Not if you follow safe ice guidelines and physically check the ice yourself using special tools and equipment before venturing out especially around any hazardous or troubled areas

This is cool, somewhat safe as it does look in some of the shots there is 4 inches in certain places. What people will do for cool shots :). Stay safe.
We made sure it was 100% safe beforehand , there’s 4-5” the camera angles on the holes always make the ice look thinner. If you know what you’re looking at you can tell. We don’t put ourselves in unsafe situations for “shots” or advocate anyone to do so

For one person at a minimum the general rule is 3” is needed, but it all depends on ice quality etc. google ice thickness chart and do some research on different types of ice and safety equipment before you venture out on any ice..

We Just shoveled the snow clear and flooded the ice with the auger in reverse pulling it out of the water. Not wearing ice cleats to scrape up the ice and create snow also.
The lights I’m running are Hawg outdoors. They are super bright and easy to use, very good customer service and support also. Brightest ones I have found so far
Yea we wait until atleast 4” here for walking. It looks thin on the camera but if you see the crack near the hole you can see it’s 4-5”. I would never recommend going out on 2”
I could not do that. I live in Arkansas and our lakes MAY freeze over once during the winter, and then it's like only an inch thick. That kind of fishing scares me.
Danger from nothing, there’s over 5-7” of solid ice there. We don’t put ourselves or others in any unsafe situations. But if you don’t feel comfortable on that then don’t go out!

Waaaw ! It must be great fun to fish on crystal clear ice like that. Something we can only dream of in rainy Belgium. It hasn’t stop raining for six weeks now !! Now the weather forecast predicts some night frost the next week, but not enough to be able to fish on the ice. And then again, we don’t have such clear water. In fact, in Belgium it’s forbidden to put holes in the ice on public waters… One thing Belgium’s great in: taking the pleasures away. All that’s fun, is forbidden. We have to drive stupid cars with engines (3-4 cylinders, 1000 cc) or if not, you pay enormous taxes, section controls and speed cameras everywhere, zones where the speed limit is 18 mph, but on the most ridiculous places, you can’t cary a gun, if you are member of a shooting club, it’s not allowed to use a laser or a scree for night shooting, you can’t fish on ice ‘because the holes you make are not safe for the general public’, and so on. But… we are the population that pays the most taxes in the world !!! 52% !!! You can pay, but fun ? No way… 🤮 Nevertheless lots of love from f*cking Belgium. 😜
Very cool but very sketchy lol. I did some sight fishing for brook trout this weekend and the ice was 7" thick and clear. I was still nervous (I am a big dude, I need a little more support lol)
It’s not sketchy at all. There’s plenty of ice there. It always looks thin on the camera angles but if you notice the crack at the bottom of hole there’s 5-7”. 7” is safe for small vehicles!
@darylgilbertoutdoors I am a small vehicle lol. 5" is pretty much my comfort limit. Last year I did an early ice day on 4". It was solid buy after two hours I was surrounded by water. My weight slowly pushing it down lol.

The water is from us flooding the ice to make it clear, it’s a national law they usually give you a public drinking charge for having beer on the ice

That ice was thinner than I expected! How can you tell if it’s a safe thickness?
It just looks thin from the camera and angles , you check for ice thickness with a spud bar or auger before going onto the ice

That sounds crazy! Maybe people should just watch where they step if they go on a frozen lake!
Very cool but very sketchy lol. I did some sight fishing for brook trout this weekend and the ice was 7" thick and clear. I was still nervous (I am a big dude, I need a little more support lol)
It’s not sketchy at all. There’s plenty of ice there. It always looks thin on the camera angles but if you notice the crack at the bottom of hole there’s 5-7”. 7” is safe for small vehicles!
@darylgilbertoutdoors I am a small vehicle lol. 5" is pretty much my comfort limit. Last year I did an early ice day on 4". It was solid buy after two hours I was surrounded by water. My weight slowly pushing it down lol.
@@differentfins for sure definitely comfort level plays a part also as long as everyone follows safe ice protocols and guidelines but also checks the ice properly for themselves and has the proper gear ,equipment and a plan

That’s the buddy flex heater with the buddy flex cooker attached to the bottom of it
What line were you using
Would have been suffix 15-20 lb braid can’t remember exactly now
