After years of guiding out of hub houses I have 1 very strong opinion. In a hub I find it extremely useful to make my floors( I use rubber roofing) bigger than the skirt on the house. No matter how hard it's frozen in I can lift up a corner of the rubber and peel it out without damage to the house. Only savages fish without a floor
Ya i bought the Eskimo fat head with a 3 inch thermal floor 8 years ago still looks and works like brand new game changer as long as people take boots off lol
I'm not taking my freaking boots off to get into somebody's portable ice fishing shack and fish are you serious man that is petty and ignorant and I mean what's your line of thinking here I'm going to buy this shack that's got this nice warm floor in it and then baby it and have rules about no boots or shoes on the the floor of the shack and that's too much a handle on ice😅😅😅
I bought a snap on mechanics pad for $40 it’s about 4’ long and a 1.5’ wide. It works great for late ice sight fishing I can lay down on it. It’s also very light weight.
I found that the matts you recomend tend to stick to the floor and leave remnants and therefore garbage on the lake. I saw one that was thicker, foldable, light and had a hole already in it. I would like to try that.
Check out Joe Holland’s wood floor. That thing is snazzy. With how it’s pre-constructed as long as you have a snowmobile it’s an ideal long haul solution
@@fishingduoproductions for sure. Glad there’s ice fishing content to watch. I’m definitely a jigsaw puzzle floor person myself but I’m jealous when I see his wood floor
I tried the heavy duty cloth like tarps and it does the same as the regular tarps too. Water settles and soaks in over night. Freezes and takes a while to dry. I just don’t like mats because of transportation wise. Tried yoga matts and rolled up was also taking space. Guess I’ll have find a better way to transport the excercise mats
If you use a popup shelter, you can try rolling the yoga mat around the shelter when you fold it down. Then I put the cinch strap around both and it fits back in the shelter bag. I figured that out after I made the video, Otherwise I would have included it. Give it a try next time. Thanks for watching!
I have a prone shooting mat that's basically a fancy yoga mat that stupid work great, but I have that lock together flooring ready to roll. Waiting for more ice here in Maine though! Just got into the pop up shelter game. Eskimo QuickFish 3i. It's so amazing!!!

I agree, these types of interlocking floor mats are the best in my experience. It makes a tremendous difference and increases your comfort on the ice.

Underrated comment! It deserves more likes

Tarps are also slippery.

Thanks for the good information! I don’t have a shelter yet, but I will soon and this is the next step for me.

I put the blue tarp down first. Then put the interlocking fatigue mats over the tarp. Works awesome.
That's a really good tip. I bet the tarp and mat combo works well in slushy conditions. Thanks for watching!
I use one of those 1" thick s×immigrants mats for my floor. Was like 225dollars to buy but warm and dry floor that's 1 pc is hard to beat.
Really good information. Thank you so much.
I use rubber bed mats from pickup box, work great and cheap on auction sales!!

I cut all my interlocking pads in half, makes them a little easier to transport . A little ingenuity gets them all to interlock.
Great idea! Thanks for sharing the tip!

Could you possibly talk just a little more!
