FYI, you probably don’t need a MIDI hub, if your external synths have a MIDI THRU port. Even if it doesn’t have the THRU port, most modern devices allow you to reconfigure MIDI OUT port as a THRU port as well. All you have to do is daisy chain the devices.

Great tips. And right on time as I just connected my K.O. to my OPsix. Problem I’m having is, it triggers the OPsix’s sequencer fine, but it doesn’t start at the beginning of the sequence if I start-stop-restart with the K.O. Probably more to do with the OPsix than the K.O. though.

The only problem, is we can't mute tracks or groups, or fading midi level volumes or velocities for external instruments, in hope that will be upgrade in next firmware.
Thank you for your perfect and very pro Tutorials I love them!

    Hi, thanks for the info.
I’m keen on picking up the KO2.
Ive got an mpc x which I’m v happy with. My thinking is to use the KO2 to sketch ideas, loops etc, then bring into the mpc x. Do you think the KO2 would be a good companion for the mpc x and would all saved data from the KO2 (effects on loops etc) be saved on the mpc x when connected by usb/midi
    Thanks dude 🙏🏼

    thanks for the midi tutorial.
how do I play a drum rack in ableton with the ep133 sequencer?
when i set the ep133 kit sounds to a midi channel/note, i can manually play the kick, snare, etc in the ableton drum rack fine. but when a play a drum kit sequence on ep133, it only outputs a single note in the ableton drum rack track, instead of playing the separate kick, snare, etc notes.

Hi! Can chords be inserted on any step of the step sequencer via external keyboard? Thanks!

      Type A!

I have one of these cables, but I don't know which. No matter what I try, I can't get the MIDI connection to work unless I use USB. Could it be that I have the wrong cable, and how can I distinguish them?

    • @john_schex
      @john_schex 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@prcr I know you can access and change the midi settings on the KO2… I don’t know exactly how to get them off the top of my head but I’d make sure you figure out which device is trying to send midi vs receive. As for the cables, theres no visual way (as far as I know) to know whether you have an A or B version, unless it’s already labeled.

Thanks! In the meantime, I learned that Type A and B cables are wired differently. I most probably have a Type B cable, and I'll start by buying one that clearly says it's Type A. 👍

I wanted to pick one of these up, but I’ve heard nothing but bad things about quality control. Was there ever a recall or official word from TE regarding the issues?

Don't think so.. they have made adjustments to make sure that the fader survives transit apparently, haven't had a problem with the one I have here. Like the sound of it and keep finding new functions that I haven't seen listed anywhere, so that has been fun, suppose if you have a load of sampler / sequencers anyway it probably isn't worth it. Have had a few different ones and have done more with this thing in a few weeks than the others put together over years. There's so much information available about the 133 that nobody should be surprised about what they get, so was easy to decide.

Ok I'm using a beatstep pro with this, wanting to have the drum track just triggering the ko-2, but every time I try to use sequence 1 and 2 it triggers ko-2 sounds...the midi channels on beatstep are all set to 1-2 and 10 for the drum track....any ideas to fix it so it's just drum track for ko-2 and not on the other seq tracks???

      Mute the other tracks?

But I'm wanting the other tracks which controlled by two other synths to play along with the ko-2, I've tried changing all the individual pads to midi channel 10 in the ko-2 but they still play across the other sequences when they run.

Can you send MIDI from your DAW to the EP-133 via USB?

I don't see a reason why this wouldn't work, but have not tried it myself. Have you tried it in the meantime?

can not for the life of me get an external midi signal to trigger a slice on the KOii - instead it takes whatever slice is selected on it and pitches it like in keys mode, but won't actually active another slice. Unless anyone knows how?

The KOII so far as I understand it and so far from my testing:
      - it gets the midi messages in omni mode, so you can’t define a pad or group of pads to get activated for an specific midi channel
      - if you have the “keys” functionality it will trigger the specific note you are playing in the midi controller/keyboard in the pad group you are
      - if you don’t have the “keys” functionality active it will trigger the sound you have in each of the 12 pads for the group you are, one note to one pad, i.e. C4 or C3 on the midi keyboard will activate the “.” Pad sound associated.
      - if you change the group of pads, you will be using the sounds or keys of that new pad and not the previous one
      - you can use the KOII as a midi controller and associate a midi channel to a pad, so your can control external synths or VTS, but that’s is all.
As far as I know, there is not a way currently to assign a midi channel to a group of pads or an specific pad. I have my doubts that it will get implemented in new firmware releases.
