  • At around 2:45 pm on October 11th the Los Angeles County Fire Department received reports of a garbage truck on fire at the intersection of Gretta Ave & Mcwood St in 26s first due. Engine 26 arrived on scene to find a garbage truck with the contents inside of it on fire and Quint 118 followed right behind them a minute later. FireFighters from both rigs stretched multiple lines to try and contain this fire from spreading anymore. Once the garbage truck operator opened the hatch and dumped the contents firefighters had a quick knock down and both units clearing shortly after.

    Smart!
    Now that's the way to put out that type of fire!
    Dump that load out,hook up to the nearest hydrant and get it done,!
    Those firefighters don't fool around...
    They put a good portion of water 💦 on that burning load!
    And OMG forgot to notice, only one little skinny fire hydrant to get water from?
    WoW!

  • @tjred3995

    Think how many chemicals, plastics, etc., washed into local waterways and eventually the ocean through the storm sewer system. Not that I am blaming the firefighters or sanitation guys...though I will blame the fire truck for wasting water -- did you see how much was leaking out of the bottom? Worse than me after pizza night!

  • @sajaeggi
    @sajaeggi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    It is best to escort the trash truck to the local trash collection site and have them dump there. Fire is contained inside heavy metal container. I’ve done it in the past to the Puente Hills Landfill. Bad idea to dump this is a residential neighborhood. 🙄

    • @EricWhiteTheGamer
      @EricWhiteTheGamer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes but you don’t know what’s in it, there could be something dangerous that could be hazardous of explosive that's why they kept it contained in the truck until fire got there and had some water on it.

    • @josephbennett3482
      @josephbennett3482 2 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      That is the absolute worst thing that anybody would do because a fire at a landfill or at a transfer facility is one thing that nobody EVER wants to happen because landfill fires burn for days and they release a ton of extremely harmful stuff into the atmosphere. I highly doubt that you have any experience in the waste disposal business or any knowledge of trash truck fires , when a trash truck compactor box has a fire it needs to be immediately dumped and the fire needs to be extinguished right there cause letting it burn would only allow the fire to grow in size and the truck would be completely destroyed cause the hydraulics would eventually rupture and the fluid would ignite feeding the flames even more. The compactor box is not designed to contain a trash fire it's only intended to haul trash , and no driver would EVER take the truck to the landfill or a transfer facility and risk not only their life but also everybody else's along with the environment.
