    Outstanding!! 👏👏👏Masked and water on the fire within seconds of rolling up. And removing that hood in under a minute. There are lessons here for many fire departments to learn. Come off the truck prepared to go in service and stop messing with the hood latch to get it open - just two diagonal cuts at the hinges is all that is required. Two man crew got it done!!

      @@Addrit85 I suppose that’s true. But you might want to get your eyes checked by a good optometrist or ophthalmologist. Haha. 🤪😉 Chicago’s black over red paint scheme goes back almost as far as to when the LACoFD was established. It was between 1927-29 when the city purchased 28 Model A Ford’s for their Battalion Chiefs. The roofs of the cars were a tar composition that could not be painted and so they were left black, while the bottoms were painted red. During those years, Fire Commissioner Albert Goodrich also started the tradition of the green light on their apparatus, as his family owned a steamship line. He was well aware of the required red and green lights on ships identifying their port & starboard sides, allowing for safe passing during inclement weather. The green lights were installed on the officers side of all fire apparatus and firehouses based upon this nautical theme.

    • @Addrit85
      @Addrit85 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CPR12345 I’ve heard that, about the history of Chicago’s colour schemes and the use of the green light - but I like my fire trucks red and chromed out with the exposed ladders and pump panels/hoses/equipment (not absolutely everything hidden in compartments like some departments do, not that Chicago does that, I just mean in general) like LACoFD engines. And I LOVE the shade of red they do their apparatus in. I like some black accents kind of like the Detroit trucks have now, but I’m not a fan of the black over top.
      But with that being said - I haven’t seen a fire apparatus that I didn’t like, paint colours or overly boxy with everything hidden in compartments notwithstanding. And it’s what’s inside that counts of course, not the paint job!

    • @CPR12345
      @CPR12345 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Addrit85 yes sir, I can appreciate that everyone has their own tastes. And it is definitely not the paint job that does the job of putting out fires and helping/rescuing people…but the “eye candy” gives each department its identity…unless you are like a lot of Chicago suburbs that have copied the black over red in recent years. (But, it is said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. 😉) I am happy that you can appreciate and like what Chicago’s rigs look like, even if they’re not your favorite. 🚒🙂
