I finally got around to proving my hunch that my 241 passenger side drop transfer case was not going to work, the Allison is too wide and the driveshaft hits the pan rail before it ever even gets close to pointed at the differential :( Figured I should put that info here in case anyone else was thinking about using one. Might work with a 6" lift kit and 37" tires, but maybe still not. I would not be surprised if this is an issue with a 205 as well. Not only does the narrower transfer case cause the problem, but the narrower chassis with the front differential closer to the center of the truck doesn't help any either, so even running a 271 upside down may not work in these old passenger side diff trucks. Someday, if I want the 4x4 to work I will try a 68RFE, they are narrower, and put the Allison in something else. Your comments are welcome- but I will only answer questions related to a 6-speed Allison swap- other questions are welcome through my website contact info at www.transmissiontuner.com. Thanks! Jason
@@WTFChuk I found a bunch of comments held in moderation... never got any notifications for them. I did hear a few years ago that clocking up makes it work, but is it still awful close? I won't ever be putting a front driveshaft in this old burb, will be building something newer so it would be great if you have one with a front driveshaft to let us know how much clearance there is and have you ever had it hit the Allison pan rail off roading?

You have to clock the t-case up to get the driveshaft to just slip past the top of the pan rail.
