      This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands.

It’s not just the English things we will lose mate. We don’t want to lose the Welsh , Scottish or northern Irish things too. Same for the likes of Cornwall etc with their old lingo. There’s so much about being British that matters and it’s the different places and our heritage and unique differences that made us great and special. We will lose it all if we continue how we are. Enforced multiculturalism doesn’t work and people want a choice in what direction they live their lives
I have done 15 yrs in the army and I most certainly don’t want to see the country I serve go down the pan.
I think if anyone wants real proof of where we are heading we just need to look at the bigger cities. I wouldn’t want to live in them even if I was payed double my salary.
Really sad but if it gets any worse here I see myself finishing my career and moving my life elsewhere.

This is what i would fight to the end to protect. The majority of truly British people are angry at whats happening to our country but that anger is rapidly turning to overwhelming sadness. We must protect our towns, villages, infrastructures and culture.

I live in a village very similar to West Harptree. But sadly as the old people die and new people move in, they don’t know how to live in a village community any more. They immediately put in big gates, where once there was just an open drive, put up CCTV, surrounded the house with lights, put floodlights on all the trees and paths, which they leave on all night, and sweep in and out in their automated gates in their Range Rovers. It used to make me angry, but now I just feel sad for them. They will never know what it is like to see the moon and stars from their bedroom window, to say good morning to 20 people as they potter in their garden, never hear the choir at Coral Evensong and then head to the pub on a summer evening, never buy a raffle ticket at the village fete and win their own bottle of wine back, or be delighted to have achieved 3rd prize for their tomatoes in village show.
I was born and grew up in a city, 60 years ago and somehow these values became mine. I’m not sure if I was born now it would happen again.

Anyway if he's ever at a loose end he should come and take over our local. He may need to bring some personal security with him, but I'm sure he'd approach it as an exciting challenge. There are lots of empty green fields around your village. Perfect for all those new houses you keep telling us we need. Or is it only other people's villages that get ruined by new housing estates. My rural Gloucestershire village is having an estate of 80 new houses built which destroy the character. Perhaps your village should have the same so that you can walk the walk.

Just the kind of chap suited to make decisions in the red wall areas of the UK....honestly its probably literally beyond satire. His place looks fab and its a lovely part of England but as an Engineer i dont profess to be a social worker..i do what i understand and am trained in. JRM is totally unsuited to rule UK plc other than maybe on his parish council which i have little doubt he'd actually be v good at.Absurd that the offshore hedge fund owners that own GB news served this up...
