    Members believe that he should be PM because he is a genuinely honnest, decent individual who has very British values. He is a deep thinker, listens, formulates his view, and conveys a very clear cogent argument without forcing his personally held views onto others.
    The way that he handles difficult questions Harman, Osbourne was brilliant ... no hesitation at all.
    I have worked with people like Jacob, recognise his talents and would be proud to be represented by him as our PM.

      I'm an atheist and I oppose abortion. Yep, under any circumstances. Attacking his position on religious grounds is, in this instance, pure deflection. It allows pro-choicers to get a KO on the grounds that he's a Catholic and a Tory, without having to engage in and try to win the debate on whether or not a zygote/foetus/embryo/baby is alive or not - a debate which isn't swayed either way according to whether or not a participant in the debate is Catholic or Conservative. Those factors are irrelevant; neither has any purchase on the central question, is it a life or not? Even JHR (who I admire) in this interview seems more interested in his faith than in the merits or otherwise of a pro-life argument.

    How refreshing is it to have a politician who says what he believes instead of what they believe you want to hear even though they have no intention of living up to and then doing the opposite when the chips are down. I don't agree with everything Jacob says but I respect him for having and expressing an honest opinion and for standing up for free speech. I do enjoy his unflappable demeanour.... This is the kind of politician I would vote for.

    • @doctorfunkshock
      @doctorfunkshock 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting - even though Conservative ideology and practice behaves as an antithesis to anything Christian. He just cherry picks what he will support. If he was a true Christian, he wouldn't be a Tory.

    • @GazBower
      @GazBower 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any political ideology is not "True Christian" whatever that means as even the Christians cannot agree on what it means.... to Catholics it means something different to the Evangelicals...etc... etc..etc. Still I would still prefer someone who answers a straight question instead of someone who skirts around the issue because they don't want to admit what they believe just to get votes.... I believe the bible calls them hypocrites...

    • @doctorfunkshock
      @doctorfunkshock 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      All Christian values of all denominations do however, not really square with Conservative ideology - otherwise they wouldn't be killing all the disabled people with such verve as they do. Most people on here seem to value the WORDS he says, over his DEEDS. He is an extremely shallow, conniving, ruthless toff, with no scruples, despite his fine Catholic words. Some people are suckers for the landed. Slaves.

    • @GazBower
      @GazBower 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      And most Christians don't live these values they profess to follow... As for killing disabled people.. That's ridiculous the disabled in the UK are amongst the best cared for and supported in the world... So I am keen to hear about the deeds of Mr Rees Mogg that are as you put it without scruples and conniving.

      The man however on other subjects is not hampered in the same way, and almost invariably performs splendidly. He is rarely not on point, he absolutely knows his stuff, and maybe more important, he is an honest, decent and very reasonable bloke.

      My position is at them moment I will not vote for him if ever the chance arises..
      he should remain in the position he holds and should refrain from issues that are based on his religious beliefs, a strong moral backbencher should not be wasted yet as a great many find his beliefs restrictive..
      I think I would actively campaign against him, if he chooses to pursue a PM position..

    I received an e-mail from Jacob Rees-Mogg at work today. Had to call him back to clarify some issues. Was suddenly feeling a bit star struck and had to compose myself/psyche myself up so as not to say anything stupid. Dialled the number and.....no reply. So gutted. Just had to send back an e-mail in response. Probably for the best as I'm sure I would have blurted out something about #moggmentum and embarrassed us both lol

    JRM's ressurrecting the spirit of our great heritage of rationalism and individual responsibility at a time when many young people are being told by authority figures that they're either victims of the world or oppressors. He's a beacon of hope within a culture that seems intent on disembowling itself.

    The miscarriage answer is; for there to be free will the existance of evil must be allowed, this is evil in all things (not just choices) but evil in the very fabric of reality to bring sorrow and negative effects. This is what forces there to be catastrophes and bad luck and miscarriages, all in order to allow humanity to choose. Describing it as evil may even be wrong, chaos could be the better view point, chaos to cause forks in the road - choices and terrible things you would not wish for.

    • @ISCREAM.STORE1
      @ISCREAM.STORE1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Miscarriages happen, they are extremely distressing for the would be mother and everyone involved, i can think of nothing sadder than the loss of an innocent babies life. But...... there are so many reasons why they happen, a pregnancy is a state of vulnerability, i know someone who lost one because of a flight on an aeroplane, she said that the radiation was bad that day or something, who knows maybe an event could of taken place during the 1st pregnancy which caused a miscarriage and then damage to make it difficult to be successful in subsequent pregnancies. we just dont know, but blaming god is a cop out surely. we have to be smarter than blaming someone else for our own misfortune.
      Either way i cannot even begin to imagine losing a child let alone 4, poor woman.

      I don't even understand why the woman brought it up. As soon as she said "Why would God let that happen" you can tell she doesn't know anything about Christian theology like most atheists. I notice atheists often use this argument but don't seem to do the same with other religions.
      "How could YOUR so called sun god allow such evil things to happen??" You won't hear that from an atheist. It's the same left wing bias against all things western and decent.

    • @YoureRatherDumb
      @YoureRatherDumb 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is also the possibility, which frankly I don't understand why nobody ever considers, that these miscarried babies will end up in heaven anyway. Our miserable, brief experience here on earth is so insignificant compared to eternity in heaven, I find the problem of evil just trivial. Seriously, if you accept the concepts of heaven and hell, literally the worst death you could imagine becomes trivial. It is totally irrational to worry about it. Maybe I grew up around too many video games and books but it seems to me a nice life here on earth is +50. A terrible death here on earth is -100. Heaven is +1000000000. Hell is -1000000000. Seriously, who cares about how your life goes here?

    I'm atheist, for gay marriages and for abortion. He's one of the few that I can accept in his views, because he doesn't want to enforce those of his on me. He only asks that I agree that he may have his convictions and I will gladly grant (as much or as little as I have a say therein) him to have and express his beliefs. That is true democracy, contrary to most other buggers in Whitehall, or in Bruxelles, that is.
    I can only hope that the Brits can actually perceive and appreciate his values, honestly, humblety and extraordinary clear intellect.

    I was quite worried at first when it seemed the Press and the Gallery began attacking Rees-Mogg for his views on the homosexual corruption of marriage and abortion, until I noticed so many commentators prefacing their criticisms with the concession that he is at least "honest". Honesty holds far more currency for a politician than old-fashioned views do against him. I'm confident that Rees-Mogg has profited from this controversy. "Ordinary people" and the talking heads of the Press genuinely admire this man. Whenever he speaks on BBC Question Time the audience is respectfully attentive and Dimbleby clearly enjoys his company.
