Rt. Hon. Jacob Rees-Mogg MP: Conservative MP for North East Somerset, Leader of the House of Commons, and Lord President of the Council. He is well-known for his traditionalist attitudes and old-fashioned style in the Commons
Boris Johnson’s Conservative Government hit the ground running with a promise to ‘level-up’, following a landslide election which turned the Red Wall blue. In the two years since, the country has been faced with lockdowns, Brexit shockwaves, and the mass evacuation of British Citizens and allies, as Afghanistan fell after two decades of conflict. With the relaxation of lockdown restrictions, the U-turn on National Insurance, and new trading and defence partnerships causing fractures across the international community, we ask in our traditional opening debate of the year: should we have confidence in Her Majesty’s Government?
ABOUT THE OXFORD UNION SOCIETY: The Oxford Union is the world's most prestigious debating society, with an unparalleled reputation for bringing international guests and speakers to Oxford. Since 1823, the Union has been promoting debate and discussion not just in Oxford University, but across the globe.

I've had to pause this merely 4 mins in to express my extremely disappointed surprise. The audience in this video are supposedly our intellectual future, and therefore god help us... What childish little pricks they are, to disrupt the voice of an opinion they disagree with. Isn't it ironic, that the 'openness preaching' liberal-left are so quick to mute any opposition. Shame on you to reap the academic accolades of the UKs best universities for personal legitimisation- yet shun our integral sense of honour and fairness, when it comes to democracy. It stinks of self-doubt and lack of manners.

If you are in a formal assembly and someone mentions coughing. Not least the speaker, it leads to coughing. It's not political. If a natural process leads you to think so, it's telling of your own politics than anyone elses. It isn't an agenda. It's compulsion. How do you know they are labour? Have you been at any gathering? People cough as a communal instinct. He shouldn't have mentioned coughing.

    What a life huh?
Start a company using your family's assets as collateral then appoint your wife as company director. Ask the bank for a massive company loan to allow liquidity and use yours and your wife's family inheritance which is not tied to the company as proof of collateral on the loan to the company. Then days after the company receives a loan from the bank...the director of the company (your wife) loans you the full amount lent to the company by the bank, plus an extra few thousands so as to avoid suspicion. You then use that loan as proof of liquidity to get a mortgage on a property you otherwise could not be approved for and then repay the loan to the company director (your wife) without interest. The company repays the bank at a nominal interest rate.
    No harm no foul?

    • @integralmath

That what? It's not sensible to sit inside a fire if you're told not to leave than it is to just leave? I'd have thought that after thousands of people died inside the World Trade Center by listening to 'shelter in place' type policies instead of just, you know, leaving the building, it would be unobjectionable twenty years later for that criticism of its stupidity to be a valid proposition to propose.
I've gone back and watched the full statement. He said that if the interviewer or he were told to remain in a fire by the fire brigade, would they or would they leave? Maybe you're so foolish as to sit inside a structure that's engulfed in flames, but I am certainly not. Indeed, training here in the states is now rapid evacuation of people from such situations.
Protip to the sheep of the world, like yourself: if you're in a structure that's on fire, you are endanger of burning to death. If you are not inside a burning structure, you are not. Your best option is always to find a pathway to some place that isn't engulfed in flames.
Also, for the curious, self transport to the hospital is almost always a superior option to waiting for an ambulance. It's why injured cops always transport one another to the hospital even though they will absolutely not transport you. They will sit there and watch you die on the side of the road for liability reasons. They take no such risks with themselves and their coworkers. Or families. You're welcome for the behind the scenes information from someone who's worked in the field for a long, long time. =^_^=

I can see a lady at 0:45. Wearing the lovely white blouse. Not strictly politics related, but from human reaction interesting. Mr Mogg makes a comment about coughing, understandable given the climate, but she reacted by coughing, but it means she is open, receptive to the speaker, but also reacting to him. This is interesting because after this, a good few others also cough too. Now if we zeroed in on that lady. We can put her on the spot. She might just have coughed by accident, but I wager it was down to her focus. She coughed when he said "cough" shed be brilliant at a Derren Brown show. If Mogg repeated sleep or relaxation, she would too. Most people have tells when they are bored. They fidget or scratch. She is interested, but tired. Perfect.
Personally, you shouldn't use a public platform to soapbox a political ideology either. I'm no lover of either bench, but you are here to pass knowledge. Not rhetoric. You aren't there to colour political opinion. You are there to deliver facts, by his opening statement he is massaging. If this was a religious speaker say Catholic, it wouldn't be allowed.

Another dishonourable man, facing allegations that he failed to declare director’s loans from his company worth £6 million between 2018 and 2020. Wonder what latin phrases he will drag out his little book of quotes?

What a blessed live we do live.
