for Eren's argument, he basically means that he has to wipe out the rest of the world as it has to much hate to even consider peace and if Paradise defends itself it'll only give the rest of the world more justifcation against them. I.e the only why this conflic is going to end is if one side is killed, which Eren vaulues paradise and his friends above the rest of the world. also with the "perfect timing" comment remember Eren was able to show his father future memories and there's no reason why Eren wouldn't do the same thing to himself. So we should pay attention to Eren after he had his precevied change at the end of s3. Just food to thought.
Two things 1: Eren says "Perfect timing" as his friends show up just as the guy invited them for drinks 2: That "You are the worst girl in the world" line cycles back to what Historia said when she freed Eren from being eaten by her in order for her to get the Founder. Eren told her something like "You can save the world" and she basically went "Fuck the world, im the world's enemy, im the worst girl in the world im not gonna do this shit" so Eren is essentially going back to that saying: "Didnt you once said you'd destroy the world just to save a friend? Welp im dong the same thing now"
“Perfect timing” probably DOES have to do with his friends showing up but it might also have to do with the memories eren has seen from the future. What if this was sort of erens last test to TRULY see that the memories were correct. When the old man with the wine shows up he realizes the memories were truly one hundred percent right and accurate. Although he Definitely knew they already were before this

Well said. A lot of people misinterpret Eren's conversation with Historia. Historia was reverting to her selfless Krista persona because Paradis was trying to force that hero role on her. Eren was reminding her that's not who she really is, and to live for herself instead of sacrificing her life.
MAPPA deserves a lot of praise for their amazing work this season. The animation was better than I could've imagined. And Kudos to Eren's VA. Awesome voice acting.
No Eren wasn’t mysterious or weird or Emo he was seriously depressed on the cards he got. He literally didn’t see any other way out. He was looking for a way when he asked Mikasa “who am I to you?” He was looking for an excuse to run away. But never got it…I honestly feel really guilty on how eren has no one to turn to or to understand him.
"Youre the worst girl who hates the world" was what Historia told Eren when she saved him from her dad's cave and refused to eat him. He reminded her of her promise then, the promise that she made herself the world's enemy if it means making sure her friends don't feel like they don't deserve to live. It wasnt about him at all, it was her quote repeated back to her.

It's totally understandable why they took that extra week, that final 2 minutes of the rumbling undoubtedly took a lot of work. I'm glad they decided to break it up and take their time even if it looks weird to have a final season part 3 in the end I have faith it'll be worth it, also this was the perfect way to set up the finale I don't want to see anyone else complaining this was filler Edit: I just want to add, you DO have a fan base and we WILL be here no matter what you want to make even if it's not the majority, so don't think your channel is dead or will be dead when AoT ends
Usually when a show is on break or takes a break doesn't necessarily mean it to add finishing touches. I doubt these episodes are being animated weekly, that'd be ridiculous
They apparently touch up the animation just before release. So the episode is finished frame by frame, it's more adding to what's already there. But this extra week might of been used for that sure.
It really speaks to the trauma she's been through. I really like her lost girls ova because it shows that she thinks she could be a normal happy girl and scenes like this prove that underneath everything, she is.
Levi caught the kid stealing Sasha's coin purse, then after saving him, he stole Levi's coin purse. I don't know if you are inferring that they "gave" it to kid because they didn't chase him down but the kid is stealing. Justifiably, you could argue, given that we see his living situation later on. Bet Levi had a lot of empathy for the kid but Levi still don't play that shit lol
@@josearmando726 I love his reaction to Eren having the same cold, lifeless glare that he related to the poor peeps in the underground having. Erwin (the goat) Smith and Levi are such cool characters. Very little flaws because they hold themselves accountable and are realistic in their situations.
I'm assuming he means he just let the kid get away because knowing levi he probably could chase the kid down and get the money back but he kinda just let him go so I assume thats what it means.

My favorite part is the fact floch is included among the people eren wanted to live happy long lives It's one of the last nails in the coffin for his already phenomenal character (wish we had more of his conversations with the main crew when they were just cadets)
Weird that it didn't include historia. I really believe that there is more between historia and eren going on behind the scenes. Like that scene showed me that those in the picture he wanted to have a good long life was his friends, while I believe that historia means a lot more to him and that's why she isn't included as his friend but probably as something more.

It's been confusing me for ages, because Eren is supposed to be out of frame, sat beside Mikasa in both versions. The entire time I was watching them party with the people living in the tents I kept thinking 'Eren in the current time in the anime is gonna fucking murder these people' and it sent chills down my spine.
i think eren calling historia the baddest girl was a reference to when historia said that about herself when she saved eren in season 3. Historia told eren that if she doesn’t do everything she can to stop him from doing the rumbling then she couldn’t live a life she can be proud of anymore (throwback to the promise she made for Ymir). But eren counters this saying that she already did that back when she saved him and even said it herself that she was a bad person for doing so bc she was putting her freinds over humanity. and that not getting in the way of the rumbling is the same thing. idk this is just what i got out of their convo
She decided to forsake humanity just because when she heard that somebody thought that they shouldn't have existed, she wanted to reach out to them and tell them that that's not true. She sacrificed (or would have, if her having the founder would have saved humanity inside the walls, without mentioning the outside world) humanity for Eren, the same way Eren sacrificed humanity for her and their friends. Historia is the worst girl and Eren is the worst boy. I have no idea how Isayama decided that introducing farmer-kun into the story would be a good idea

My favorite cute Mikasa moments: the ice cream, The beach, when she blushed when someone called Eren her boyfriend, and when she happily accepted her fate when titans were killing the survey corp till Eren used the founding ability to rip the Smiling Titan apart.
Regency bias aside this was one of the best episodes of an anime series ever! I was sceptical of how they would adapt 123 and 130 but Mappa did an amazing job! I love how both Eren and Mikasa were the narrators this episode and the ‘what am I to you?’ scene was adapted beautifully. Facial expressions were on fucking point and the ost was so beautiful. The ending action sequence was mind blowing. The global alliance fleet took out some titans but they were completely crushed as if to say; the rumbling is here and there is no escape. God I fucking love this show!!
The thing is they didn’t take out some titans, they only delayed some. They didn’t take out the nape, only blowing som of them in half or losing some limbs.
I went into watching this episode annoyed that we have to wait until next year to finish the series, but after watching this episode I'm so eagerly waiting for part 3 now. Just breathtaking the choice of music when they titans start to destroy the Navy was brilliant. I felt usually when your hear that song it's usually for the guys your root for, but as horrific as that scene was the song hit so differently. I swear to God if they try and pull a part 4 I'm going loss my shit.
Ok so the Eren Mikasa moment, am I correct to understand the implication here was that if Mikasa told Eren she loved him Eren would not have gone through his plan?? Cause if anything, quoting Mr. William Smith here, “love makes you do crazy things” Eren would have pulled the rumbling sooner if that was the case lmao
There is absolutely no way he would have changed his plan if Mikasa told him she loved him. Eren said in this very episode that everything happened the way it did because he wanted it to happen.
Yeah I saw it as eren was looking for an excuse NOT to do the rumbling. If Mikasa had confessed he would have dropped everything and spend his last 4 years with her, paradis be damned. Because while he wanted to do the rumbling he also knew it was wrong and I think Mikasa would have been the only one who could’ve swayed him. But it’s too late now, he can’t just turn back.
I just realized. When eren asked mikasa the question. I didn’t realized he said “perfect timing” does that point towards the AOE theory if he knew that was going to happen since he already lived through the events 🤯🤯🤯
No matter how this show ends, Attack on Titan was able to give me an almost childlike wonder that I thought was long lost when it came to a work of cinema. I had become mostly bored with every other movie/show genre out there and had seemed to have lost that "awe" that came with it. But watching Attack on Titan brought back the adrenaline of watching an action scene for the first time. It gave back magic of being emersed in a fantasy world for the first time. It brought back the emotional experience of being attached to a group of characters for the first time. It gave back the horror of watching a scary scene for the first time. It brought back the thrill of a well written story. It gave back the wonder of an epicly written soundtrack that fit perfectly with the scene. All in all, it brought back the pride for being able to witness history being made with a work of cinema. Thank you Hajime Isayama, Hiroyuki Sawano, WIT, MAPPA, and everyone who had a part in bringing to life this masterpiece.
I was so confused by Jean's flashback in ep 27 of season 4 of him and Conny partying with some rando.......now makes total sense lol Great scene and hilarious seeing Sasha vomitting XD love how a show that can be so grim can add so much unexpected humor!

I was concerned at first, that they were going to try and fit everything into this one season. Glad we'll get to have this experience again next year. I read somewhere that Isayama said that even when drawing Mikasa in these scenes, he wanted us to see her how Eren sees her. Which is why when seeing her from Erens perspective were seeing this sweeter version of her. That's just how he sees her in these scenes. But after she says hes just family, we see her how everyone else sees her.
Like you said, history keeps repeating itself every 100 years. So even though people keep recording history to help prevent the same thing from happening, it still keeps happening. So eren is believing the only way is to delete all of history. Of course it's extreme, but it's not that stupid. Eren would rather make a change to break the cycle, than to continue the violence and hate
The first time we see a "cute" Mikasa, if im not wrong, in s1 ep 7 called "I can hear his heart beat". At the end, when eren came out of the titan, we can see a cute and happy/confused/anxious mikasa running towards eren to then hug him and cry out loud.

Also, in this episode, we've seen Eren smiling. And in that moment, I just figured out: I don't remember when I saw this poor kid smiling last time. I think he is the only one in the main cast who smiled the least. Of course, except Levi and Erwin.

People hate Mappa but they don't realize what Mappa has to go through to just bring this Season into reality otherwise this Final season would never have happened. I loved the episode so much, the animation was just outstanding. I loved the wholesome moments and the build-up before the appearence of Eren's Founding Titans. At the beginning I got quite mad because I haven't read the manga and thinking about waiting another year to see how everything comes to an end was killing me, however I now realise that Mappa's amazing job with the animation is worth the wait even if I'm dying to watch the ending!
I know what happens due to reading the manga, but seeing how all this plays out in animation feels like I’m witnessing it all for the first time. Eren being so spaced out, is linked to during those moments he was looking through his futures memories as to what damage he’s going to cause to the town(s), cities etc. Basically having PTSD about things that have not yet happened.

This what I’ve been saying to all the Floch fan boys. Eren never wanted this path but had no choice. Floch is creating an empire which is something Eren NEVER WANTED!!! Eren wanted a peaceful solution but the world would never give it to him. The rumbling was the only solution he had.
The end of the episode leaves us off at exactly the end of chapter 130 but it may be a good idea to read through from the beginning for cool bits that got cut from the anime
If you want to start from where the anime left off, you'll want to go to Chapter 131. However, I recommend starting the manga from the very beginning, because that first chapter is very different from what the anime showed you.

I used to watch other channels as well, but I really appreciate that you don't unintentionally spoil anything and see things from an anime watchers perspective moreso than a manga readers. I would love to see more "what if?" style videos, anime watcher friendly lore/philosophy videos, more deep dives on characters, etc for AoT during the downtime, it helps keep the intrigue for the show over these slumps.
Hello there. As an Attack on Titan fan, I've also read some fanfiction about this amazing anime. While a lot of it is silly, one particular piece of work really stood out to me. Basically, it is a conversation between a much older Armin on his deathbed and Mikasa. The world after the Rumbling is filled with political battles between Yeagerists and the rest of the island. Armin blames himself (and the rest of the Survey Corp) for the Rumbling, for pushing Eren to this point. His reasoning is that he always considered himself as Eren's best friend. He thought of himself as someone Eren should have relied on, someone Eren would never lie to, someone that Eren trusted. What he didn't realize at the time was that whether intentionally or unintentionally, Armin and the rest of the Survey Corp stopped seeing Eren as a human being and only saw him as a weapon, as their salvation. They put him through so much, without considering his emotional needs as a human. Eren was in so much pain, not just from losing so many people in his life, but also from knowing the future and what he was about to do. Armin and Mikasa realized that in their zeal to protect Eren's physical state, they completely neglected his emotional health. Not being allowed to vent, not being allowed to grieve, whenever Eren was hurting, everyone just told him to accept it as fact and move on. Armin realized that Eren wasn't the one pushing them away. Rather, he and the rest of the Survey Corp pushed him away a long time before he deserted them. Armin blamed himself for not stopping Eren, when all he needed to do was listen to Eren, listen to his pain, his self-loathing. Armin thought he understood Eren, but then realized that he never understood Eren at all, yet he called himself Eren's best friend. What kind of best friend is that? Mikasa herself realized that she always prioritize Eren for her own sake. She protected him because she always felt comfortable next to him. She protected him because she didn't want to lose him. That selfish reason blinded her to Eren's pain as well. The two people who should have been closest to Eren never understood him completely, never helped him in the way he need them to. Meanwhile, Eren understood them, understood their pain, their fears, and always fought to give them that happy life. That's why he was disappointed in them, that they never did the same for him. The realization of that for both Armin and Mikasa was damning. Not only those two, but everyone in the Survey Corp were guilty of using Eren like he was just a weapon, and not remembering that he was still human at the end. In the end, Mikasa realized that the person who understood Eren the most out of everyone was Jean ironically. He understood Eren's motives, understood that this wasn't an easy decision or a decision Eren wanted. He also understood Eren's urgency in the situation because the naivety of the Survey Corp would have them waiting too long for a peaceful solution. Do you think this perspective is accurate, that the Survey Corp failed Eren by refusing to acknowledge his human side? I can see that in the final season, all the Survey Corp cared about was who Eren was going to lend his power to. They didn't care about Eren the person, only Eren the Founding Titan. They also didn't seem to understand the extent of the hatred of the world, whereas Eren did, because he lived behind enemy lines for a long time. It's a very interesting perspective, so I'd like to hear your thoughts.
The ice-cream remark made by Eren is not only a little piece of world building, but also a small glimpse into his own mind, and where his thoughts already were at that moment. While everyone was genuienly enjoying themselves, despite being there on a mission, and discovering what seems to them as a whole new world, Eren's mindset is that of "sure the world outside the walls is big but wherever we are in it, we are seen as the enemy"
Definitely get into more character lore over time. I really appreciate the mid week video you seem to upload. Deep dives and analysis are dope even if it seems similar to another creator , the people that enjoy how you deliver the content will still appreciate it yaknow
15:44 I thought Eren's thinking was self-evident, 'war' leaves some people alive to rebuild over time and attack again... 'genocide' however is like mass contraception, there won't be enemies or historians left to contradict your version of events, all that's left is your own side, free from the endless cycle of war
17:10 that would also work, but this is actually referring to the scene in the cave in season 3 part 1 where Historia frees Eren and calls herself the "worst girl in the world" for doing so, because she's sacrificing peace and certainty for her own beliefs. This is Eren using her words against her to essentially gaslight her.
He isn't gaslighting her at all. He's reminding her of when she embraced her selfish side like he and Ymir inspired her to do. He's telling her to live for herself, not sacrifice her life for others like the MPs are trying to force her to do.

People who hate on Eren don’t understand him, I love Eren and Sometimes I see a little bit of myself in him, that’s why AOT is in my top 5 Anime of all time
I know people say Eren is a genocidal maniac but put yourself in his shoes. He has less than 4 years to live, a peaceful resolution doesn't seem possible anytime soon, the world wants to attack Paradis together and they are 100 years behind in technology. He had no other choice. He was running out of time.

I think it was mentioned in the manga that they the window to use the rumbling was closing due to the effectiveness of anti titan weapons and just evolving technology in general
That last scene kinda made that point seem moot 😭, the canons slice up some colossals sure , but the sheer number makes it obvious nothing short of a nuke would stop them
Eren did it because he wanted to. He wanted to destroy the people outside the walls because it wasn’t the freedom he desired in Armins book. Of course there is circumstances with that, most of the people out there want to kill him, but people need to accept that he’s not a hero or even a good person, just a damn good character who’s a little messed up.
It's about damn time I found someone who understands that. Eren wanted to destroy the world the second he found out humanity existed outside the walls. He just happens to be "justified" cuz the world also wants to destroy him. Even though he would have done it regardless of that fact.

Awesome, thank you! I will say that these videos are meant to be off the cuff. I don't prepare a script, only notes so I miss stuff (combined with the fact I'm not using the subs on Crunchyroll). Every single other one of my videos are scripted and prepared though, and typically go WAY more into talking points than these videos.
7:16 I also took another important thing from it: "...they rarely get to eat one. Even thought this world is so big" I think is a really awesome way of saying: "Fredoom was not on the outside world as I expected. We are all not free" So yeah, it´s more than "world building", it´s the representation of Eren´s state of mind.
Eren and the ice cream felt like a big moment.. how mikasa said nobody wanted to see how he was,. That moment showed how his mind is completely on a different wavelength and how his memories is messing with his ability to enjoy and have an open mind of the new world.

honestly i was worried they were going to skip that chapter in the manga where they visit the town but i was blown away with how smoothly they incorporated it into the story with mikasa’s flashbacks and rethinking that conversation. i’m so excited to see the rest of the story animated, i think it’ll be worth the wait seeing how incredible the last scene of the rumbling was!! honestly to say i’m excited is a bit of an understatement! edit: correction on the historia part where he says she’s the worst person, whenever historia frees eren from the chains after her father tried to get her to inject herself with titan fluid, she tells eren how she hates humanity and wants it to be extinguished by the titans so she’s letting him go free (crazy that now that’s actually happening just not in the way she thought lol)

also with the "perfect timing" comment remember Eren was able to show his father future memories and there's no reason why Eren wouldn't do the same thing to himself. So we should pay attention to Eren after he had his precevied change at the end of s3. Just food to thought.

1: Eren says "Perfect timing" as his friends show up just as the guy invited them for drinks
2: That "You are the worst girl in the world" line cycles back to what Historia said when she freed Eren from being eaten by her in order for her to get the Founder. Eren told her something like "You can save the world" and she basically went "Fuck the world, im the world's enemy, im the worst girl in the world im not gonna do this shit" so Eren is essentially going back to that saying: "Didnt you once said you'd destroy the world just to save a friend? Welp im dong the same thing now"
“Perfect timing” probably DOES have to do with his friends showing up but it might also have to do with the memories eren has seen from the future. What if this was sort of erens last test to TRULY see that the memories were correct. When the old man with the wine shows up he realizes the memories were truly one hundred percent right and accurate. Although he Definitely knew they already were before this

Historia was reverting to her selfless Krista persona because Paradis was trying to force that hero role on her. Eren was reminding her that's not who she really is, and to live for herself instead of sacrificing her life.

No Eren wasn’t mysterious or weird or Emo he was seriously depressed on the cards he got. He literally didn’t see any other way out. He was looking for a way when he asked Mikasa “who am I to you?” He was looking for an excuse to run away. But never got it…I honestly feel really guilty on how eren has no one to turn to or to understand him.
"Youre the worst girl who hates the world" was what Historia told Eren when she saved him from her dad's cave and refused to eat him. He reminded her of her promise then, the promise that she made herself the world's enemy if it means making sure her friends don't feel like they don't deserve to live. It wasnt about him at all, it was her quote repeated back to her.

It's totally understandable why they took that extra week, that final 2 minutes of the rumbling undoubtedly took a lot of work. I'm glad they decided to break it up and take their time even if it looks weird to have a final season part 3 in the end I have faith it'll be worth it, also this was the perfect way to set up the finale I don't want to see anyone else complaining this was filler
Edit: I just want to add, you DO have a fan base and we WILL be here no matter what you want to make even if it's not the majority, so don't think your channel is dead or will be dead when AoT ends
They didn't take the week to further animate it (maybe they did, but) they took it because of another show in Japan that was at the same time as AOT

They apparently touch up the animation just before release. So the episode is finished frame by frame, it's more adding to what's already there. But this extra week might of been used for that sure.
I love how cute Mikasa is rare. It makes those moments where she actually is that much more special
It really speaks to the trauma she's been through. I really like her lost girls ova because it shows that she thinks she could be a normal happy girl and scenes like this prove that underneath everything, she is.

I don't know if you are inferring that they "gave" it to kid because they didn't chase him down but the kid is stealing. Justifiably, you could argue, given that we see his living situation later on. Bet Levi had a lot of empathy for the kid but Levi still don't play that shit lol

I really believe that there is more between historia and eren going on behind the scenes.
Like that scene showed me that those in the picture he wanted to have a good long life was his friends, while I believe that historia means a lot more to him and that's why she isn't included as his friend but probably as something more.

i think eren calling historia the baddest girl was a reference to when historia said that about herself when she saved eren in season 3. Historia told eren that if she doesn’t do everything she can to stop him from doing the rumbling then she couldn’t live a life she can be proud of anymore (throwback to the promise she made for Ymir). But eren counters this saying that she already did that back when she saved him and even said it herself that she was a bad person for doing so bc she was putting her freinds over humanity. and that not getting in the way of the rumbling is the same thing. idk this is just what i got out of their convo

She decided to forsake humanity just because when she heard that somebody thought that they shouldn't have existed, she wanted to reach out to them and tell them that that's not true. She sacrificed (or would have, if her having the founder would have saved humanity inside the walls, without mentioning the outside world) humanity for Eren, the same way Eren sacrificed humanity for her and their friends. Historia is the worst girl and Eren is the worst boy. I have no idea how Isayama decided that introducing farmer-kun into the story would be a good idea

My favorite cute Mikasa moments: the ice cream, The beach, when she blushed when someone called Eren her boyfriend, and when she happily accepted her fate when titans were killing the survey corp till Eren used the founding ability to rip the Smiling Titan apart.
This season only being 12 episodes was a bigger lie than Andrew Garfield not being in No Way Home.
Regency bias aside this was one of the best episodes of an anime series ever! I was sceptical of how they would adapt 123 and 130 but Mappa did an amazing job! I love how both Eren and Mikasa were the narrators this episode and the ‘what am I to you?’ scene was adapted beautifully. Facial expressions were on fucking point and the ost was so beautiful. The ending action sequence was mind blowing. The global alliance fleet took out some titans but they were completely crushed as if to say; the rumbling is here and there is no escape. God I fucking love this show!!
The thing is they didn’t take out some titans, they only delayed some. They didn’t take out the nape, only blowing som of them in half or losing some limbs.
I went into watching this episode annoyed that we have to wait until next year to finish the series, but after watching this episode I'm so eagerly waiting for part 3 now. Just breathtaking the choice of music when they titans start to destroy the Navy was brilliant. I felt usually when your hear that song it's usually for the guys your root for, but as horrific as that scene was the song hit so differently. I swear to God if they try and pull a part 4 I'm going loss my shit.

Yeah I saw it as eren was looking for an excuse NOT to do the rumbling. If Mikasa had confessed he would have dropped everything and spend his last 4 years with her, paradis be damned. Because while he wanted to do the rumbling he also knew it was wrong and I think Mikasa would have been the only one who could’ve swayed him. But it’s too late now, he can’t just turn back.
I just realized. When eren asked mikasa the question. I didn’t realized he said “perfect timing” does that point towards the AOE theory if he knew that was going to happen since he already lived through the events 🤯🤯🤯
No matter how this show ends, Attack on Titan was able to give me an almost childlike wonder that I thought was long lost when it came to a work of cinema.
I had become mostly bored with every other movie/show genre out there and had seemed to have lost that "awe" that came with it. But watching Attack on Titan brought back the adrenaline of watching an action scene for the first time. It gave back magic of being emersed in a fantasy world for the first time. It brought back the emotional experience of being attached to a group of characters for the first time. It gave back the horror of watching a scary scene for the first time. It brought back the thrill of a well written story. It gave back the wonder of an epicly written soundtrack that fit perfectly with the scene. All in all, it brought back the pride for being able to witness history being made with a work of cinema.
Thank you Hajime Isayama, Hiroyuki Sawano, WIT, MAPPA, and everyone who had a part in bringing to life this masterpiece.

I read somewhere that Isayama said that even when drawing Mikasa in these scenes, he wanted us to see her how Eren sees her. Which is why when seeing her from Erens perspective were seeing this sweeter version of her. That's just how he sees her in these scenes. But after she says hes just family, we see her how everyone else sees her.

The first time we see a "cute" Mikasa, if im not wrong, in s1 ep 7 called "I can hear his heart beat". At the end, when eren came out of the titan, we can see a cute and happy/confused/anxious mikasa running towards eren to then hug him and cry out loud.

I loved the episode so much, the animation was just outstanding. I loved the wholesome moments and the build-up before the appearence of Eren's Founding Titans.
At the beginning I got quite mad because I haven't read the manga and thinking about waiting another year to see how everything comes to an end was killing me, however I now realise that Mappa's amazing job with the animation is worth the wait even if I'm dying to watch the ending!

I know what happens due to reading the manga, but seeing how all this plays out in animation feels like I’m witnessing it all for the first time.
Eren being so spaced out, is linked to during those moments he was looking through his futures memories as to what damage he’s going to cause to the town(s), cities etc. Basically having PTSD about things that have not yet happened.

This what I’ve been saying to all the Floch fan boys. Eren never wanted this path but had no choice. Floch is creating an empire which is something Eren NEVER WANTED!!! Eren wanted a peaceful solution but the world would never give it to him. The rumbling was the only solution he had.

The end of the episode leaves us off at exactly the end of chapter 130 but it may be a good idea to read through from the beginning for cool bits that got cut from the anime
If you want to start from where the anime left off, you'll want to go to Chapter 131. However, I recommend starting the manga from the very beginning, because that first chapter is very different from what the anime showed you.

Hello there.
As an Attack on Titan fan, I've also read some fanfiction about this amazing anime. While a lot of it is silly, one particular piece of work really stood out to me. Basically, it is a conversation between a much older Armin on his deathbed and Mikasa. The world after the Rumbling is filled with political battles between Yeagerists and the rest of the island. Armin blames himself (and the rest of the Survey Corp) for the Rumbling, for pushing Eren to this point. His reasoning is that he always considered himself as Eren's best friend. He thought of himself as someone Eren should have relied on, someone Eren would never lie to, someone that Eren trusted. What he didn't realize at the time was that whether intentionally or unintentionally, Armin and the rest of the Survey Corp stopped seeing Eren as a human being and only saw him as a weapon, as their salvation. They put him through so much, without considering his emotional needs as a human. Eren was in so much pain, not just from losing so many people in his life, but also from knowing the future and what he was about to do. Armin and Mikasa realized that in their zeal to protect Eren's physical state, they completely neglected his emotional health. Not being allowed to vent, not being allowed to grieve, whenever Eren was hurting, everyone just told him to accept it as fact and move on. Armin realized that Eren wasn't the one pushing them away. Rather, he and the rest of the Survey Corp pushed him away a long time before he deserted them. Armin blamed himself for not stopping Eren, when all he needed to do was listen to Eren, listen to his pain, his self-loathing. Armin thought he understood Eren, but then realized that he never understood Eren at all, yet he called himself Eren's best friend. What kind of best friend is that? Mikasa herself realized that she always prioritize Eren for her own sake. She protected him because she always felt comfortable next to him. She protected him because she didn't want to lose him. That selfish reason blinded her to Eren's pain as well. The two people who should have been closest to Eren never understood him completely, never helped him in the way he need them to. Meanwhile, Eren understood them, understood their pain, their fears, and always fought to give them that happy life. That's why he was disappointed in them, that they never did the same for him. The realization of that for both Armin and Mikasa was damning. Not only those two, but everyone in the Survey Corp were guilty of using Eren like he was just a weapon, and not remembering that he was still human at the end. In the end, Mikasa realized that the person who understood Eren the most out of everyone was Jean ironically. He understood Eren's motives, understood that this wasn't an easy decision or a decision Eren wanted. He also understood Eren's urgency in the situation because the naivety of the Survey Corp would have them waiting too long for a peaceful solution.
Do you think this perspective is accurate, that the Survey Corp failed Eren by refusing to acknowledge his human side? I can see that in the final season, all the Survey Corp cared about was who Eren was going to lend his power to. They didn't care about Eren the person, only Eren the Founding Titan. They also didn't seem to understand the extent of the hatred of the world, whereas Eren did, because he lived behind enemy lines for a long time. It's a very interesting perspective, so I'd like to hear your thoughts.
Welp time to prepare some popcorn for the next final part cause man the anime community isn't ready for what they are about to witness.

The ice-cream remark made by Eren is not only a little piece of world building, but also a small glimpse into his own mind, and where his thoughts already were at that moment. While everyone was genuienly enjoying themselves, despite being there on a mission, and discovering what seems to them as a whole new world, Eren's mindset is that of "sure the world outside the walls is big but wherever we are in it, we are seen as the enemy"
Definitely get into more character lore over time. I really appreciate the mid week video you seem to upload. Deep dives and analysis are dope even if it seems similar to another creator , the people that enjoy how you deliver the content will still appreciate it yaknow

17:10 that would also work, but this is actually referring to the scene in the cave in season 3 part 1 where Historia frees Eren and calls herself the "worst girl in the world" for doing so, because she's sacrificing peace and certainty for her own beliefs. This is Eren using her words against her to essentially gaslight her.
He isn't gaslighting her at all. He's reminding her of when she embraced her selfish side like he and Ymir inspired her to do.
He's telling her to live for herself, not sacrifice her life for others like the MPs are trying to force her to do.

I know people say Eren is a genocidal maniac but put yourself in his shoes. He has less than 4 years to live, a peaceful resolution doesn't seem possible anytime soon, the world wants to attack Paradis together and they are 100 years behind in technology. Eren did it because he wanted to. He wanted to destroy the people outside the walls because it wasn’t the freedom he desired in Armins book. Of course there is circumstances with that, most of the people out there want to kill him, but people need to accept that he’s not a hero or even a good person, just a damn good character who’s a little messed up.

It's about damn time I found someone who understands that. Eren wanted to destroy the world the second he found out humanity existed outside the walls. He just happens to be "justified" cuz the world also wants to destroy him. Even though he would have done it regardless of that fact.

Even though the story itself goes out of its way to tell you that Eren is not a good person nor should he be considered one. I just wish people would understand that Eren isn't a freedom fighter, but instead a "pathetic, evil, and childish" character.

Awesome, thank you! I will say that these videos are meant to be off the cuff. I don't prepare a script, only notes so I miss stuff (combined with the fact I'm not using the subs on Crunchyroll). Every single other one of my videos are scripted and prepared though, and typically go WAY more into talking points than these videos.

So yeah, it´s more than "world building", it´s the representation of Eren´s state of mind.
Eren and the ice cream felt like a big moment.. how mikasa said nobody wanted to see how he was,. That moment showed how his mind is completely on a different wavelength and how his memories is messing with his ability to enjoy and have an open mind of the new world.

I think thats ultimately why Eren chose genocide. If they went with peace. It would likley breakdown anyway. So with the little time he has left. He chose to obliterate every one else to secure the future of his family.

@@jayfive431 why didnt he just nuke all the places with the most troublesome people tho? he had the power to do it. why be so dramatic and slowly stomp them into the earth? he literally had unlimited power lol. from there the people would be too demoralized to attempt to fight and he could have shaped the world into something where lasting peace and prosperity was a realistic goal. most of the worlds problems (here and in aot) was caused by people who sought to consolidate power into as few hands as they could. it wouldnt be hard to eliminate all of those people with a few hundred colossal transformation nukes

In Eren’s POV in at the Marley dock he’s surrounded by his enemies. Probably thinking to himself this is how Reiner, Bertholdt and Annie behaved in the cadets.
I’m also an anime only but currently finishing the manga
honestly i was worried they were going to skip that chapter in the manga where they visit the town but i was blown away with how smoothly they incorporated it into the story with mikasa’s flashbacks and rethinking that conversation. i’m so excited to see the rest of the story animated, i think it’ll be worth the wait seeing how incredible the last scene of the rumbling was!! honestly to say i’m excited is a bit of an understatement!
edit: correction on the historia part where he says she’s the worst person, whenever historia frees eren from the chains after her father tried to get her to inject herself with titan fluid, she tells eren how she hates humanity and wants it to be extinguished by the titans so she’s letting him go free (crazy that now that’s actually happening just not in the way she thought lol)
