With all of the players that have come and gone over the years I noticed something, whether they start in Pittsburgh as a rookie or come from somewhere else in a trade the best comes out of the majority of those players. And if they leave Pittsburgh they never return to their former glory. This tells me that this organization is something special. Coming to Pittsburgh and the energy of that is something special. Let's make this seasons ride something special as they reach another NFL record-most Superbowl wins! Yinz are awesome!
So many play makers... Heath should be on everyone's lips as a top 10 TE. Watching has me looking forward to all the lucky yinzers at the games this year chanting "MOOOOUTH!"
Ill never forget 09. This was win number 2 of an impressive 5 game winning streak that began with beating the Chargers the week before, and then later defeating the red hot undefeated Vikings and Broncos back to back. Ill always remember this season. After the wins against the Viks and Broncos back to back and sitting pretty at 6-2, I was definitely seeing a deep playoff run again. And then the SB hangover and the 5 game losing streak beings with Cincy, and then losing to bottom teams like the winless Kansas City Chiefs, The Browns, Raiders etc. It was painful. Then they close out the season on a 3 game win streak against 3 good teams in Green Bay, Baltimore and Miami
I think we do have it this year! Our defense is super bowl worthy, now we just need all of these new weapons on offense to gel quickly in this team is going to be a powerhouse. I just love how the national media always sleeps us!

Horrible start that was nothing the Browns did, but the mistakes we made that had us out of the game before the 1st qtr was over. Browns are the sexy pick cause they're the Browns. Steelers are the smart pick.
Was watching some of these and paying attention to the year made me realize that right after this we got sanders and AB. When did we not have good young WRs? Insane.
I remember on that interception of Josh Cribbs, Polamalu injured his knee and was out for alot of time. That defense suffered greatly once he went down and couldn't hold any fourth quarter leads. During that five game losing streak, I believe we held a lead in four of those games in the fourth quarter
Losing Troy and poor special teams sunk the 2009 Steelers. This was Troy Polamalu at the absolute peak of his powers. They definitely beat the Raiders and Chiefs with Troy in the lineup.
In 2009 the Steelers had the same team that won the SB the year before along with same coaches + mike Wallace and couldn’t make the playoffs after starting 6-2 !They had really bad losses to Cleveland, Oakland and KC . 2009 foreshadowed a lot of under achieving seasonings that would be the Steelers to this day . 2011 12-4 losing to Tim Tebow , 2014 11-5 losing to the ravens , 2017 13-3 losing to the jags , 2020 started 11-0 finished 12-4 losing to a back up browns team . I hope after this year the Steelers make actual changes to get back to their tough roots .

AB just went nuts, Bell got greedy & thought he was bigger than the team, Mendenhall decided to say a bunch of dumb crap on social media, Burris was a hot head who temper tantrum-ed his way out of Pittsburgh, Holmes decided to throw glasses at women in nightclubs, Ben decided to take advantage of drunk women at bars, and Wallace decided he was bigger than the team.
If not for turnovers, The Steelers could have put up over 40 points in this one. That whole 2009 season was weird there were about four plays that separated them from 9-7 to being potentially 12-4 or 13-3.
We lost tht superbowl to the Packers all because we released Santonio Holmes this is the same off we should of had playing in the Superbowl no we had to force the ball to Wallace Hienz was banged up and two rookie Wr Antino Brown and Emmanuel Sanders
Wasn’t Holmes facing criminal charges because he hit a woman in a nightclub that off-season? I think that’s why he was let go. He’d been a pain in the azz & that was the last straw.
We damn near came back & won too. That fumble in the red zone by Mendenhall sank us. We played the absolute worst game possible while GB played the absolute best game possible, and it was still only a 1 score game. I thought for sure we were gonna do a repeat of ‘09 and March down for the game winner, then Ben got hit in the knee. That was that.

Forgot to add, the loss of both Polamalu and Aaron Smith was the downfall of the 2009 Steelers.
