My mans Brian Hoyer actually played pretty well in 2014, and that Browns squad was just relentless in the beginning of the season. They kept starting a game terrible, then battling back in the second half. They even set a record for largest regular season comeback for a team on the road. When they faced the Tennessee Titans, they were down 3-28 near the end of the second quarter. They scored a touchdown before halftime and never looked back. Game ended with the Browns winning 29-28.
Buuuut then it all fell apart. They were super competitive early, going 7-4, and then they just collapsed, finished 7-9. Amazingly, every other team in their division made the playoffs (Bengals, Ravens, Steelers). If the Browns ended up winning just TWO more games down that 5-game stretch, the entire 2014 AFC North would've had a winning record. That's crazy. Talk about a competitive division.

Jonathan Huber Same defense? Are you dumb? Steven Nelson, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Devin Bush, Mark Barron, are all new pieces. That’s 4 new full time starters on our defense. Not to mention how much better Bud Dupree has gotten this year, Cam Heyward, Joe Haden, and Watt are all playing the best they have in years. This defense is brand new, and completely different than what we had the past 3-4 years. So you obviously don’t know what you’re even talking about. By the way it’s spelled DEFENSE* not Defence, lol you don’t know shit, and you can’t even spell defense so please don’t try talking to me about defense until you at least can spell it right. 🤣🤣

Too many first and early round draft busts on defense, Jarvis Jones, Jason Worilds, Artie Burns, Senquez Golson, Sean Davis.
Plus the tragedy with the only great first-round defensive pick (Shazier)other than Heyward. (Tuitt was a great second-round pick but he couldn't stay healthy.)
And then they closed out the decade with some of the the worst waste of defensive first round picks, (Edmunds and Bush).

    • @derpmcgerp8062

Yep. And actually, the Browns would end up beating the Steelers later on in that same season. 2014 was the last time the Browns actually had some optimism (aside from 2018). They started 7-4. What's even crazier is in 2007 10-6 Browns season, they lost to the Steelers both times, so the fact that they were able to compete and beat them in 2014 was pretty special... buuuut then 7-4 quickly turned into 7-9 with a brutal late-season losing streak.

I can’t believe we had bell brown and Bryant and still couldn’t win a super bowl but of course it was our defense that was the issue

Martavis Bryant most certainly was not a Killer B. He was nowhere near as good as Ben Bell and Brown. Chris Boswell is more of a Killer B then Martavis Bryant.

It's so weird to see a Tomlin-coached team come out flat in the second half and see the other team beating the Steelers with second-half coaching adjustments.

I remember being at this game and they said, "Offensive ass interference on Antonio Brown." I'm like what? How do you get offensive interference as a returner? They show the replay and the kick to the face.. I was like, "Oh damn." 😅
