This is the only video that I found about how to do this on my shower valve assembly. Excellent, just as Pablo mentioned below! Thank you so much!

My diverter let’s ALOT of water run out the bottom faucet when you switch to shower. Would replacing the diverter stem fix that?

Mines, after replacing the diverter, it's still leaks alot (but less than before). It's properly aligned and fitted... I think mines is cause by something else. 😢

sorry to hear that. You have to buy one at your local hardware store. I'm sure lowes or home depot has it.

So I've got a f@%# ton of questions for your knowledge, seeing as though this is the only video that remotely has similar parts for this 25 year old shower valve !
So it looks like your parts differ from my set up is the thickness of the substrait it looks like you have a tub surround fiberglass insert and im deling with tile thin set and plaster all of witch is about 2 inches thick my question to you is the easy in witch at the two minit mark you pull the old cartridge out with out a problem im skeptial to break something as my shower valve is not willing to come out so easy but i dont see a retaining clip of anykind the valve body differ at the tube that goes threw the escustion plate it looks like yours is threded and you unscrew that tube and my tube just pushes into the escustion plate ,and the escution plate is plastic also there is no bathtub shower diverter only knob to shower head
Should i just pull harder on the old cartridge or have you come across a pdf that showes an actual shower contorl knob insted of a sink facute parts list .and /or shows a retaing clip for this control knob ?
Thank you for any light you might be able to shed on this moen brand hot and cold shower control knobs .

Watch the 1:38 to 1:50 mark. You have to unscrew the diverter bonnet using a deep socket. You have to fully remove the diverter bonnet. Then wiggle the white plastic diverter lightly and gently, left and right. It might be stuck there due to rust and the rubber compaction. But if you said it's a different brand or different parts. This is not the right video. It's better to consult a certified plumber in your area first.

1:08 1:12 I can’t get that metal tube to come loose. It’s like they super glued it to behind the wall. Any suggestions?

    • @freewebplay7322
      @freewebplay7322  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Wiggle it side to side. You turn it left to un tighten it. I have no idea if it cemented. But most of the time it's a putty. You have to check 1st if it's a putty.

@@freewebplay7322 I’m a 250lb man. I was wiggling with all 250lbs. I’ve bent the heck out of it too.
When i check in the wall panel. It looks like they poured a bucket of acrylic adhesive. Around where the sleeve meets the valve.. I’m concerned I’m going to have to cut the fiberglass. Just to take the main valve out. If I can’t get this unscrewed

    • @freewebplay7322

@@bobduffy7744 acrylic adhesive? Just call a plumber to have it fix. It's adhesive. It should have been a putty. You better call a plumber.

You can bypass the wall tube and unscrew the cartridge nut using a shower valve socket wrench (counter clockwise). I purposely remove the wall tube to make it easier.

    • @bobduffy7744

@@freewebplay7322 yeah I tried the shower valve socket wrench. I have set. and it’s not catching. It’s either too big and won’t catch it too small. That’s why I tried to get the sleeve off.

Sorry to disappoint you. Well, its as real as I made it. No second takes. Its accurate and easy to understand so people won't get intimidated. This is the ONLY video on youtube right now for this type of issue. It would be unreasonable and irresponsible to buy a professional grade camera for youtube. I'm no influencer nor vlogger. I got more important things to prioritize like winter tires and car maintenance. Well you can donate a professional grade camera if you have some spare.
