The film has no opening titles to blur the illusion of whether it's a film, a documentary, or something else altogether.
In reality, Heather Langenkamp's real husband David LeRoy Anderson is a special effects man. As he is in the film.
In this film, Freddy is depicted much closer to what Wes Craven had originally intended for the character, much more menacing, much less comical, with an updated attire and appearance.
In the ending credits, Freddy Krueger is credited as himself, even though Robert Englund reprises the role.

(he didn't like the movie of the shining, so can't really call that a king movie.) and I would say Craven beats all the others, Carpenter certainly comes close. (james wan though? really. lol) . nightmare on Elm street and scream are still hailed as two of the best horror franchises to this day,

Just so everyone knows this isn't actually Canon, just a really awesome spin off!
Yeah I know and it's in my top 5 of my ranking of the nightmare on elm street franchise.
It's canon as the final entry to the actual film series, but is not storyline canon.
It technically is canon, well some what cause I kinda like to think it’s like an divergent canon that the original creator Wes craven fully made in which also gives this film an more canon status than the previous nightmare sequels who were instead made by other writers and directors except for Dream Warriors some what. And that the entity being created by Wes is just a true persona of the real Freddy Krueger from the original nightmare films coming out of its main series continuity and into our own reality.
I'd like to see them do this again only this time with Scream. Have the 7th installment be a total meta type film where Ghostface is stalking Neve Campbell (the actress) because of her refusal to reprise her role of Sydney in the 6th film.

Corrina Corrina. That vhs tape had this trailer when I was a kid and wow I was terrified of it for so long that I did not see the actual film many years later. Rip Wes craven.
What made this film scarier was during production they tied it in with 1994 Northridge Earthquake.

@@christopher4249 I couldn't believed the storyline when I got it, a movie within a movie, way ahead of their time. We didn't have information about "meta-stuff", so it was a big surprise

i think Freddie is based in the Alp, an strange zombie-vampire monster from the german lore, and the Mara, an scandinavian ghost-vampire girl who can enter in the dreams of people.

My theory is that the exact demon that haunted the Laos and Cambodian refugees manifested into Freddy Krueger and started tamping with the crew
(In the movie universe obviously it didn’t happen in real life besides the mysterious deaths in people’s dream)

I'm very intrigued by this film and didn't even know it existed till today but after seeing this trailer and reading the comments I must see it because the trailer looks fucking ridiculous. I mean I would've laughed but I was too caught up in shock by the plot and the acting. I guess I'll just have to see it to put it to bed.
Saw this movie for the 1st time on lsd(not my 1st time).. holy crap was this movie terrifying. My mental state was already in a dream world turned nighmareish by this genius trippy movie

Those will fuck you up properly. I'm still getting around to watching Hellraiser. I read some of the script, just the beginning and now I really want to watch it. Conjuring is also very good but the second half is mostly jump scares and shit.
Edit: oh and how could I forget. Fallen 1998. It's not even classified as horror but crime/thriller. But man will that thing give you goosebumps. Brilliant film and acting. I guess coming from a religious upbringing there's some things I just can't shake about demons, devil's and evil spirits.
@@russellwalker3830 Seen the exorcist too it wasnt a mind fuck like this freddy movie and i was in dark place. I felt comfrotable watching the exorcist actually, its such a good movie too. I gotta say i did it to stick it to my religios upbringing. Thats in the past tho i could honestly say im now peaceful agnostic with no regrets to the way i was raised :)

I just saw all of them, my head canon makes 1,3,4 a good trilogy, with an excellent ending. This movie as a great spinoff. The rest, I can do without.
