    Best of luck with fellowship - cards fellowship is pretty tough but attending life is amazing, stay open and try everything - I came in dead set on cardiac imaging but ended up loving the cath lab and went intervention. Best wishes!!

    Thank you for these videos, Dr.L!
    If ever you get the chance please do a breakdown (interview) of what being a Cardiothoracic surgeon looks like, as you've done in this video. Wishing you all the very best.

    Congratulations on your choice with Cardiology and best of luck in your career, My mother 70 y/o has been diagnoses with Pericarditis (Mild-Moderate) for the first time and she did multiple blood test + CT scan + XRay + MRI + Stress test, no blood clots neither blockage.. and been prescribed Colchicine + NSAID (ibuprofen), the cause was unknown, how long does she has to be on this medicine and is there a chance Pericarditis coming back? what are the side effects? will she fully cured? is there anybody with similar issues can share their experience?

    Congrats on getting into your top program! After working on a hospitalist salary for a year, will it be challenging going back/adjusting to cards fellowship on a training stipend again? Will you be moonlighting, or even have time to? I’ve always loved the thought of subspecialty training except for the extra 2-3+ years it requires after 3 years of internal med residency.

    • @TheMDJourney
      @TheMDJourney  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! Yeah it'll be a big cut (66-75% cut). But yes I plan to moonlight when I get the hang of being a fellow. Until then I'll just keep a tight budget

    I’m truly inspired by your contents. Do You have to performed heart surgeries when you complete your fellowship?

    • @TheMDJourney
      @TheMDJourney  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the comment! You don't do open heart procedures as a cardiologist. We do procedures like catherization, ablations, pacemakers, echos, etc. But not open heart surgeries

    how do you keep up to date on all of the new research while being busy as a fellow/attending cardiologist? I'm considering hematology/oncology for a lot of similar reasons and I just feel like keeping up with all the new advancements has to be so difficult.

    • @TheMDJourney
      @TheMDJourney  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just keep slowly reading and have a few go to ways to get new info. I have podcasts in cardiology that share new studies which I listen to on my drive in.
      You won't get everything but it's a life long career. You'll hit the big stuff eventually

    This is one of my dream fellowship specialities❤️
    I have a question is it true that to match as a fellow in cardiology you need a research experience in the field prior to even applying for internal medicine residency?otherwise it's too competitive and unlikely to make it? I'm an IMG, and have research scholar position available in pulmonology but would taking that affect matching into cardiology fellowships?
    I have been trying to find research scholar positions in cardiology but haven't been able to do so :/
    Any input on this would be sooo appreciated 🙏🙏❤️

      It's okay to have non cardiology research but should make the push to have some in the field just to be another marker of your interest

    Cards likes money . But they work like dogs to get this. I know this as an attending in a different field. He knows this.

      Definitely a high volume field. Money is nice - but I def had more free time working as a hospitalist making a more than enough salary. Cards definitely is more interesting on a day to day

    What images is a cardiologist reading that a radiologist wouldn't other than echo? I see radiology being happy if you can do an official read of the chest x-ray 🩻🙂

      Sorry my earlier comment didn't save!
      Echos (transthoracic and tranesopgageal), CT cardiac images, MRI cardiacs, stress tests are some big ones
