What a legend. If i didnt go into orthopedics I probably would have chose cardiology. Seeing another brother in medicine successful gives me more hope for life after residency. Hope to be at his level in the future
I shared this with my daughter. She’s a current student at BGSU, majoring in Medical Laboratory Science. This young man is truly an inspiration. We need more like him!
Cardiology and experimental medicine saved my life as an infant so you saying you get to make an impact is an understatement. The changes and evolution are exciting and keep me at ease.
Ten thumbs 👍. Praying to all the stars in the sky that all things line up perfectly for this doctor bc he is truly an asset to this society and to the medical profession. PERIODT
A cardiologist died in a small town. He was very well loved in the town, and every other doctor in the area came to his funeral. The doctor wanted to be cremated so there were a big red heart in one of the walls that open in half revealing a cremation oven behind and the casket was slowly entered into the oven through the open heart.r> It was a beautiful affair, but marred by a man in the front row who couldn't stop laughing. After the ceremony, he apologized, wiping his eyes, "I'm so sorry, it's just, I've been imagining my own funeral. I'm a gynecologist."
The most shocking part is that he fights with insurance companies. To hear that these companies don’t want to pay for people’s health is truly eye opening. They don’t care about us. And we pay them for it.
Where I grew up these options are very limited. I wish I even knew about cardiology in high school, let alone HBCUS.IM in my 30s now, I would’ve been a surgeon. I was born at the dreadful Johns Hopkins. This is refreshing to see.
You still can. If you have a bachelors degree then explore post baccalaureate programs in pre-med. If not, start small, enroll at a community college and take your required hard sciences for med school. All schools are different, so you want to consult directly with your desired institutions. Most importantly, seek out a mentor in healthcare, share your story just as you did here..cold call them, cold email them if need be. Never too late. If you really want it, it can and will happen! I’m rooting for you :)🥇
Very well done Dr never give up on medical work please go study orthopedic surgery that is also good you ask any Dr that is doing orthopedic surgery we love you man
It’s not done in malice. As someone in the veterinary medicine field that is also black, it’s nice to see representation within the medical field due to its low percentages. It helps people like me and others in the future be inspired to pursue careers such as this. :)

Nice video but it’s not always “100% up to patients what their heart health will look like.” Systemic racism and oppression affect what kinds of food people have access to, what time they have to exercise, what health insurance allows them to see doctors. It’s not always as easy as patients making a conscious choice. Nice video though

The most shocking part is that he fights with insurance companies. To hear that these companies don’t want to pay for people’s health is truly eye opening. They don’t care about us. And we pay them for it.
