    I just l love all of your tutorials!!!! You are so wonderful and pleasant to watch and listen to and your knowledge is incredible. I am 56 and just getting serious about sewing my own clothes especially with Menopause and my shape being harder to keep the way it used to look when I was younger. LOL Being able to make my own clothes especially from clothes that already fit me well, well that is priceless. Thanks again for all of your tutorials and being you.

    Your tutorials are way too fast!! it took me like 4 hours to make the t shirt! And I have no idea how to do that collar, i cant even see what you are doing :(

    wendy, can you please make a tutorial on how you make your patterns? if you're just using clothes you already have, can you still show us how you do it and edit (if you wanna make it a little bit different) it along the way? please? thank you!

      +mina rose roxas Yes! So sorry! In the vast majority of cases I lay down a piece of clothing on the fabric and cut half an inch away from the edge to leave room for sewing seams. I'll show more in the future!

      Hi! I'm not an expert, but for a beginner, I recommend cotton or stretchy polyester. It might fit better if its stretchy, but a firm cotton is easier to work with.

    interesting video... ive become very tired of tshirts from shops... even wen i buy expensive ones... its still a gamble on how long they will last and some of my cheaper ones outlast them.... ive wanted to make my own shirts for years and i find ur video motivating.... i liked the point about putting tension on the collar as u sew it to the shirt to make it lie flat... i find collars are one of the first things to go on shop shirts... sometimes after only a couple washes

    I dont know how i never thought of sewing the sleeves that way.. I guess Im so used to always attaching the sleeves after figuring out my torso pattern but attaching AND sewing this was and then sewing the side seam is SO much easier

    I plan on making my own especially since I’m on a total gym and Walmart shirts will be harder to fit after a while it one thing I will advise you on and my late grandmother would say the same and that’s to throw that brother machine out and get a singer. My first brother gave me issues with the bobbin now I have a singer confidence 7640 which I have found to be a versatile solid machine.

    Just found this. Great info, especially about the ability to change the sleeve styles. I always tug on my sleeves. They seem to crawl up on me. I need to be able to make them a little longer and more straight across. Thank you.

      +Yves George Sanchez Yes! The thickness of the knit will just determine how warm and how the fabric will drape on your body.

    Do you not use an overlock or serger to sew stretchy fabrics? I thought this was needed to keep the threads intact on the garment.

    I have many questions. What about seam allowance when sewing the shoulders together? How do you actually pin the sleeves to the hole? What about seam allowance when it comes to sewing the sides? How did you actually sew the collar? We couldn’t see much.

    I'm not entirely sure how I got here from cat videos, but this reminded me of when my grandmother taught me how to sew (though our snacks had been pineapple cubes, not apples.) I'll be watching more of your videos soon.

    Hello Wendy, when you were attaching the collar, you said to make sure there is more tension on the collar piece than on the shirt so that it lays flat when finished.     I REAAAALLLYYY DO love this DIY, and I feel so bad because I think it's a bit too fast and as a person who is not speaking english super duper well, it's a bit confusing when it goes so fast. But I do love it, and I wished that I got it. But it's a little too fast for me.

    Unfortunately the ad at the end was smack in the center of the picture of the final v-neck picture so I was able to see how it turned out, but I was able to follow along on the steps and am sure I'll like the outcome. Thanks for sharing the video.

    Hey wendy! I was wondering if you knew what specific material they use to make commercial tshirt's neckline? Its like a ribbed material unlike the rest of the tshirt.

      +Valerie Ye Yes! In many cases it's ribbed knit in the same colour as the shirt, which you can pick up at fabric stores too. In my varsity jacket tutorial for example I used ribbed white knit fabric to make the cuff, collar, and waistband.

    I don't understand how I mess up sewing the sleeves to the shirt.
    This is always where I mess up.

    How important are rotary cutting mats? I was thinking of getting one as I want to start making my own clothes, but you don't seem to need one! :)

      tasniah they're a preference, if you can cut straight with scissors, do it! however the Rotary cutter tends to be more ease and speed!

    Great tutorial! I just started sewing like 2 months ago and was able to make a long sleeve camo shirt for paintballing.
    My collar is a little floppy, is there a trick to pulling the collar tighter as you attach it? i made it a 1.5" mandarin collar to protect my neck a little so that probably didn't help me.

      +Alexander Rasputin I usually tighten the collar when it's floppy, or will be harder to do with a wider collar but I hope it helps a bit!
