I marvel at these machines! I saw a 1 piston very slow operating one years ago at an Amish affair outside the Dutch market in Burtonsville back when I lived there. It was attached to a big paddle making fresh ice cream.

You might look into the tuned length exhaust calculators online as an interesting means of tinkering with you r model.
The same goes for the intake length. Here a Bell Mouth also makes a surprising difference. ;)
    Research:
Dr Ali Erdemir Agronne National Labs Boric Acid in engine oil lubricant.
Not only is friction and wear cut, basically to zero, and humidity turned into an advantage, but there is some evidence that the Boric Oxide layer that forms on metal surfaces (sleeve) is something of a thermal barrier.
That is VERY important in small engines where the combustion chamber (heat robbing) surface area to volume ratio is high.
NB: Do NOT treat engines that are not run in properly and then some. They will not be running in after.

Its a pity you dont have a load for these fine engines, say a hand crafted alternator to run a little hydrogen production cell which could then fuel the engine! probably have a lot left over for some other use.
