I fucking hate when people say somethig like, "why are you putting so much money into your car? You're never going to get it back." They generally are just Joe Smoe who sees a car as an object to get from point A to Point B and don't understand. Like he says in the video we don't care about resale value because we build the car we want, not a car to sell.
Maybe because Joe Smoe has already been down that path and seen the reality of making a living in this time and age. Its easy being a 12 year old and getting a boner over a project car, when you get your licence kid then talk.
Usually when someone says that the car is a piece of shit, can i see dumping two grand into a nice car like that? of course, can i see you dumping 2k into a rusted 96 chevy lumina? fuuuuck no
I say that when I see someone dump money into a complete crap, that will remain crap. When they could've bought a much more rewarding car for that money. Rewarding being, faster, better suited for drifting, or whatever they actually want to do with it.

I have an E30 M3 nowadays but there's still that connection to my first 02 and I'm sure I'll have another some day. Thanks for telling your story Kramer.
+daft mell i saw one with a black racing stripe in a book, and i liked it. I don't see the problem with it, the stripe is just for appearance. The 2002 turbo is another dream.
I love these old BMWs. I’m 68 years old and of all the cars I have owned the one car I loved the most was my 1969 BMW 1602 that I had in the late 70’s. It too was orange and and nicknamed the “Pumpkin” by my friends. I bought it from a dealer for $500 and it had a lot of problems. But, for all its problems, on a good day it was magic. I wish I had kept it and learned how to repair it like you did.
Part of this is true. My best friend's car got rear ended, insurance company declared it salvaged. They paid him on it and offered him the car for an additional $300 at the time. He didn't want it because it broke his heart that his car was wrecked. I paid the $300 to him, registered the car as salvaged, and actually drove it around for a bit because while the frame was bent, the car was driveable. I couldn't ever sell it, as in my heart I felt he gifted me the car. After a few years, I only took it out occasionally, but it was mostly garaged. Almost 20 years later, as middle aged men, both of us are restoring it in my garage. As we were happily gutting the car recently to access the frame damage, I said, "if this car hadn't gotten into that accident, you would've probably sold it by now". Both of us felt it was a blessing that we got a second chance with this car.
+0hjaa No judging from his name he's an illegal immigrant. But don't call him an illegal immigrant as it will hurt his feelings to be referred to as an illegal immigrant even though it's the proper term. These illegal immigrants even have Hillary Clinton (their savior) shamed into calling them "undocumented". Now that's funny! But whatever you do, do NOT go into their country illegally or their police will arrest you and deport you immediately (which is typical of any country around the world except the United States). Of course the Democrats will see that he and his entire illegal family can stay here because eventually, when they receive legal status, they will consistently vote for Democrat political candidates.
I watched this video a little over 2 years ago and my dream car has since been a orange lowered 2002 turbo BMW and I think this video set my dream for the rest of my life. Enjoyed your story, I went through the same journey with a 1954 Ford Mainline coupe, in my case the car was not able to survive the second crash. You should also thank God for your mothers understanding and support!
One of my all time favorite videos. I am 60 years old. Bought a project 2002 2 years back. Pretty solid but was hit pretty hard years back. Slowly getting the fixing bone and then deciding what direction I go with the rebuild. Love the way your car looks and would be proud to own one that cool. I have 5 BMW's out in the drive. Don't car what any are "worth" 'cause I ain't selling either. Well done!

Very nice looking 2002 and a great story to match. Somehow I think he will have more fun if it was running more bhp but power to weight will no doubt make this fun in the current form. Well done on the build 👍
A well told .. honestly delivered account of so many of us, caught up in our own sort of way to find ourselves .. Thanks for this perfect tale . Our appreciation to your mom and to all of our mom's who patiently watched and gave their support .

I used to work with this dude. I remember him working as a photographer at a camp. people used to talk a ton of trash about his car, him crashing it.... blah blah. Then one day Im driving behind him in an el camino clone to pull up and see its the same kid in a completely transformed vehicle on route 117. Job well done man =)
for a car enthusiast it's not just a car .it's passion it's a dream,it doesn't matter how much you spend on it the goal is to bring back something to life that will ease your heart.i say to you ..you have done a great job
This car makes me depressed. When I was 16 I wanted to get it as my first car. It was about 200-300€ cause nobody wanted them. When I turned 18 they were already at like 5000 and now its 10000 just for a rolling chassis...
Which car? I'm placing my bets on the car being the Datsun 240Z, cause I'm pretty much in the same boat, except I'm 17 and the prices are already sky high... I'm afraid to see what prices will be when I'm ready to purchase a car to build.
Man, what a beautiful build. I just discovered this channel and I love it. I am living vicariously through all these people who have these wonderful builds since I could never afford such things myself. I am thankful for this channel that enables me to dream about owning my own dream car.
Has no value, said by people that never built dreams. Fantastic job Carter. She is beautiful and choices you've made on YOUR 2002 is tasteful and nothing you touched on YOUR 2002 is ugly, even down to paint job. Let the haters hate because that's what haters do best. You're an inspiration for sure to younger generations. Cheers
That opening statement near gave me chills, jeez... 20 years old and has his own beautifully built car. Great job man, and an even better story. Great spotlight Petrolicious!
This is so great in so many ways. The car itself is wonderful. His story is heart-warming and shows that there are still younger people who appreciate real sports cars and manual transmissions and analog stuff.
Andrew Wilson I get that, but you still can't call it a lot. My mother's '07 dodge magnum makes 180hp. yes this is lighter, but I'm arguing the statement itself, not the implied meaning.
bannablitz247 To be fair, 150bhp for just over 2,000 isn't bad. I'd imagine it's the feeling you would get driving a Miata. It's not very powerful but it's light and a great car to drive
I was 15 when I got my first car. I learn how to drive and fix my own vehicle. Today it has saved me thousands of dollars on repair cost on my vehicles through the years...
Thank you for telling you're awesome story Carter. Couldn't say it better! Also, thanks to your parents for letting you have the freedom to develop and define yourself. You're right in that you can never put a price on that or on the sentimental value a machine that you've built yourself has.
That sounds really wrong. To say that today's cars, of which some are named after people, others made in the old day, others being this sought after, and others having all kinds of luxury, have no soul, is wrong.

I have an E30 M3 nowadays but there's still that connection to my first 02 and I'm sure I'll have another some day. Thanks for telling your story Kramer.
Well done. Give your mum a hug. Mums are special and yours is extra special.
The car looks awesome. I love the way you talk, just real no BS.
o=II=o. BMW. :p

An orange bmw 2002 with a black racing stripe on the side is one of my dream cars.
a orange 114 i with a racing stripe is okay?
Well racing stripes do make the car the fastest in the world.
+daft mell i saw one with a black racing stripe in a book, and i liked it. I don't see the problem with it, the stripe is just for appearance. The 2002 turbo is another dream.
Sgt C4 stripes can not make a car go faster!!
it was sarcasm
I love these old BMWs. I’m 68 years old and of all the cars I have owned the one car I loved the most was my 1969 BMW 1602 that I had in the late 70’s. It too was orange and and nicknamed the “Pumpkin” by my friends. I bought it from a dealer for $500 and it had a lot of problems. But, for all its problems, on a good day it was magic. I wish I had kept it and learned how to repair it like you did.
That car is gorgeous. When I think of BMWs, I think of that car. Don’t listen to others. Make your world fit you.
How to build your dream car:
Step one - crash it.
Daniel Yang wAt car is she ?
@@ef_danielsan what car is she? Spill the tea, bro
You can't build it until you unbuild it first.
@@ef_danielsan nice story
How can somebody NOT smile at this video?
Wait so eBay sellers lie? Say it ain't so!
Shut up, racist fuck.
+OzcarMtl Why does that comment make him racist?
"I'm white as milk, I'm mexican", that is so LOLs.
QuickieTop10s I don't know if you are aware but not al mexicans look like you may think we look.
I watched this video a little over 2 years ago and my dream car has since been a orange lowered 2002 turbo BMW and I think this video set my dream for the rest of my life. If you don't think you caused an impact on people trust me.you did. I admire the living fudge out of this and have an enormous amount of respect for you ! Thanks
Enjoyed your story, I went through the same journey with a 1954 Ford Mainline coupe, in my case the car was not able to survive the second crash. You should also thank God for your mothers understanding and support!
I always wondered...who are those low-lifes downvoting a video like this?!
Something about older BMW's is charming
probably one of the most human stories on the channel. I can certainly relate. loved this video. good job carter and petrolicious!!
Well done!
OMG ..I'm a car guy ..have a 04 Chevy Tahoe ...96 Volvo 850 turbo ..both modded and cuztomize ..I work on them myself ....have gotten offers but I just love my cars so much ..they're my kids ...I cried with your story because I know that for some people they might look old or not great ..but the passion for cars Its just a wonderful thing ....great story
Still sounds like it's running on three cylinders
Ekd lmao really though
If you go to my channel I built a 91 geo storm. And it also sounds like a tractor lol
Very nice looking 2002 and a great story to match. Somehow I think he will have more fun if it was running more bhp but power to weight will no doubt make this fun in the current form. Well done on the build 👍
Look fantastic, colour and car, iv'e always wanted to have a cool old BMW and this makes me want one even more.
A well told .. honestly delivered account of so many of us, caught up in our own sort of way to find ourselves .. Thanks for this perfect tale . Our appreciation to your mom and to all of our mom's who patiently watched and gave their support .
Even at 49 year old, it tears me up. Passion.
“Don’t worry, I’ve got this.” 🙌🙌🙌
Could you PLEASE CREDIT the music you used in this video?
Even if it's free to use I still want to know. Thank you very much!

Jk but probably 2nd best
you fuckhead! LOL i almost choke reading this comedy
I have this video saved under my favorites now. Every time I think about my future metallic cobalt ls1 Miata, your words in this video will ring through my head... As well as the background music and your BMW's engine :)
I used to work with this dude. I remember him working as a photographer at a camp. people used to talk a ton of trash about his car, him crashing it.... blah blah. Then one day Im driving behind him in an el camino clone to pull up and see its the same kid in a completely transformed vehicle on route 117. Job well done man =)
"I'm gunna fix the car" *hears the tools he has*
Even though I'm not really interested in cars, this is very inspiring. Good job, man. You did it.
Great car with a great story, you know the car was made for you when it comes back second time :D
who knew taytay was a big car fan
@@paulalangadan8375 the more you know i guess xD
Wish that the format was still like this for the videos...still my favourite video to this day
Love storries like this! I'm in process of building my classic Mercedes.
Great intro!
Well done, Carter Kelly Kramer, in making your dream car. This video inspires me to do the same.
for a car enthusiast it's not just a car .it's passion it's a dream,it doesn't matter how much you spend on it the goal is to bring back something to life that will ease your heart.i say to you ..you have done a great job
@@paperbeatsrock_ Nah, the car in the video. BMW 2002.
@@mellanone3860 Ah, I misread your comment, didn't realize you actually said it therein, lol
@@paperbeatsrock_ Its fine man. We both still feel the same pain.

Cheers
What a beautiful machine!
After watching this video i still don't know how to build an Audi R8 V10 Plus 2017 :( Please help me
It's called getting a job and working hard
Wait do you own it?
True passion, no douchy presenters, subbed ;)
I had one just like it brother in 1998 it’s awesome to see another generation taking hold and working on old school BWW mad respect!
That opening statement near gave me chills, jeez... 20 years old and has his own beautifully built car. Great job man, and an even better story. Great spotlight Petrolicious!
That exhaust note sounds pretty nice! #builtnotbought
Does this guy live in Canada?! Because those roads are gorgeous!!
I think hes from the UK
No that's in the Hudson Valley NY the road looks like it's 9 by Sleepy Hollow NY
amazing story. amazing car
This is so great in so many ways. The car itself is wonderful. His story is heart-warming and shows that there are still younger people who appreciate real sports cars and manual transmissions and analog stuff.
I'd pay more for a 2002 that looked like that than a stocker.
Now thats a great story.
totally get power to weight ration but 150hp is not a lot
This is a well set up car from 1976. 150hp is adequate. Not every car has to have a 500hp LS1.
Andrew Wilson I get that, but you still can't call it a lot. My mother's '07 dodge magnum makes 180hp. yes this is lighter, but I'm arguing the statement itself, not the implied meaning.
bannablitz247 No one said it's a lot. Haha.
5:53
bannablitz247 To be fair, 150bhp for just over 2,000 isn't bad.
I wish I had a 1969 dodge charger
MonsterBoy -1999 Me a 1969 ford mustang
lol funny, mines a 1969 camaro
Isaac Hepworth 1969 was a good year for muscle cars.
MonsterBoy -1999 yes it was haha
Mines a 1969 Impala
ohh yeah positive vibration!!
the old cars had a soul...todays are without it
That sounds really wrong. To say that today's cars, of which some are named after people, others made in the old day, others being this sought after, and others having all kinds of luxury, have no soul, is wrong.
Ok boomer
