    So fun fact: This video is shot after Joe Flowers, Guide for Bushcraft Global, tried a Sapo frog poison ceremony, that basically purges the body of all the evil toxins by making you sick as a dog. My face stayed swollen all day. "During this process one experiences a purgative effect." Meaning, I had to sit down and everyone got to watch me scream vomit. Perfect time to do a Brakimo review after that.

      LOL, I wasn't going to mention it. I was going to let people think your face just looked funny. But now that you see the footage you can tell what we were saying about puffy face. :) Well done!

    That is one awesome knife and I liked getting to know one of its designers! I loved your setting up at the end!

    Love Joe's designs and his personality, I own the Bushlore and its the only knife I have kept through my learning and changing as a newcomer with Bushcraft and blades. I started out about two years ago and jumped on the BIG SCHRADE BUSHCRAFT KNIVES...LOL Which have zero to do with bushcrafting. I bought many knives that were way to big and way to weird, but during that learning I scored a new Bushlore for $25 and my whole world changed. You don't need a beast of a knife, yes they are necessary but not for many things we do, and also the scandi grind and saber shape is IMHO the best. Then Brakimo IMHO is the best of both worlds scandi and saber style shaped blade tough yet technical for the detailed work, a perfect woods tool. Thumbs up Joe and thanks for being such a cool inspirational dude😉

      I can agree. Check out my top ten video. I kinda talk about that big knife and small knife thing and about what is actually usable.

    I do like the style, size and shape of the knife but for the Colombian jungle (or any jungle for that matter) I prefer stainless steel for the knife I also use for food prep. Maybe Sandvik, Aus 8 or 440C. I'm still looking for a perfect instructors knife for when I open the bushcraft school in Colombia.

    • @TJackSurvival
      @TJackSurvival  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have you looked at the Scandi Helle knives? Because they are from Scandinavia which has a temperate rain forest they're all very water resistant. For you, that may be a good suggestion. I have the Temagami and love it.

    • @StevanOutdoor
      @StevanOutdoor 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes thank you. I did look at them and I do have Helle. They are great knives but I prefer the full tang options Enzo has to offer. Last time in Colombia I tested the Enzo Elver in 12C27 Sandvik and it performs great, but as a small knife it needs a big brother or a machete to team up with. I'm looking at the Brakimo more as a one tool option. The one tool option includes food prep and therefore I would prefer some stainless steel. I do know it's all about the skills and not the knife but a good knife does help. There's other options both in Scandinavian and American knives of course but somehow this Brakimo makes sense to me. Also the kydex sheath is a big plus.

    • @TJackSurvival
      @TJackSurvival  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Helle Temigami and the Brakimo and the TOPS Tanimboca Puuko are all full tang.

    • @StevanOutdoor
      @StevanOutdoor 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All nice knives indeed. The Helle in Carbon is expensive. The Tops knives are expensive because of the tax we have to pay on these knives. The Enzo knives are made inside the EU and therefore free of extra tax but I ordered a Puukko from Finland that arrived today that is about half the price but gets all good reviews. I ordered the one with the 140 mm length in Carbon steel with the Colombian jungle in mind. If I personally like this knife I might go for the stainless version that is only a bit more expensive. Tops should think about making both the Brakimo and the Tanimboca in stainless as an option.

    • @TJackSurvival
      @TJackSurvival  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could ask them. If I were you dealing with the tax I would look at contacting the topicala on TH-cam. He has made me three of the highest quality puukos I've ever owned. He lives in Finland. He is good people. If you contact him tell him hello from Tyler.

    Great video. I have replaced more than a few of the knives that I rotate edc with the Brakimo. It fits the niche that so many knives come close to, but always seem to come up short.

    Nice knife. How did you maintain your knifes in such a wet, humid environment?

    • @TJackSurvival
      @TJackSurvival  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      John P I just use it and sharpen it when needed. If you stop using it you use any kind of oil. I like mineral oil because it is food safe, but a laxative.

    • @JPA66
      @JPA66 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John P I use Olive oil on all my knifes it's food safe without the laxative effect TJack Survival mentioned.

    • @johnp505
      @johnp505 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you all. Nice to know.

    • @TJackSurvival
      @TJackSurvival  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just used it so much that it stayed clean. If you remember to maintain it before you go you are ok. Just use mineral oil before you leave and keep it sharp. This environment is more water than salty water and that makes a major difference.

    Great knife! One thing you should know though! The first one I got had smooth handles and I got another one and it had a rough texture handle! Now this is my opinion! I like the rough rugged texture handle one the best! The other one is great too but if you want a good grip, a better bite, go with the rough texture handle one! Joe Flowers and Tops knocked this knife way out of the ballpark! Awesome knife! One of my favorite knives! I don't have nothing bad to say about this one! Perfect design!

      TJack Survival Thanks for the link. I like to hang so I researched Hennesy years ago but never pulled the trigger. Hammock camping is great especially out here in the Rockies and Hennesy seems to make some great gear.

      Larry Koziol I got into it long ago while riding my BMW GS motorcycle. It's light, comfortable and fast to put up if you have trees. Jungle perfect! I'll have a demo on the hammock later on for sure. I need to get them edited up

      I use mine in the Rockies as I am from Idaho and live in Utah. Watching these in the jungle I won't ever own another brand after this. I am impressed.

    Isn't the jungle a humid place? How do you take care of the 1095 steel?

    • @TJackSurvival
      @TJackSurvival  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You would think it's an issue. I've come to learn that salt is a bigger factor than water. If you use the knife often and keep it clean and slightly oiled it's a non issue actually. I believe it's because of a lack of salt.
