anyone who wants pre big bang needs to forget maple existed. Old maple was bad and they know it. Its the community they missed and they are not helping by complaning.
nope, don't agree, for me maple lost its charm when all the hero classes were being released, pre-big bang I somehow enjoyed the grindy nature and the simplicity gave the game its charm. When all the classes with massive explosions and over the top flaming skills were released and when you started to level every 5 minutes it lost its fun for me and I stopped playing
Nero The JokeEmperor actually the only thing bad about old Maple is fouth job mage because of leeching. Nexon knows it and fixed it in big bang by giving it a cooldown. but at that moment potential already strikes and the game becomes more pay2win. old Maple is no where pay2win because you can only buy 2x coupons with NX
Tbh the new generation of mmorpg gamers just can't handle the difficulty of
games anymore. Which is why so many once-famous games have become
exponentially easier(e.g. maplestory, WoW, runescape,
diablo2-->diablo3)
+Yao look if you are talking about maple being too much of a p2w, there is ways to fund yourself without spending millions of dollars. By that I mean there are cubes that drop from bosses and pollo and frito. There are cubes in the reward shop which you get points from bossing. Scrolling is super easy and thanks to dojo you can get mesos to scroll weapons and css them if they fail. It takes a while yes but I ain't paying actual money for it. If you want to play maple but don't want to pay there is also reboot server.
I remember when I was like 7, there was a quest that would give you a free hair coupon if you got 25 slimes and I always wanted the black wavy hair with bangs, so I had to remake my char every time I didnt get the right hair. I was desperate LOL

I think Maplestory really has that special nostalgic connection with lots of people. Looking back over the countless games I've played over my life, I've never had the same feeling about another game, except maybe Halo 3. Truly a master piece.

Halo 3 ftw. Nothing was more fun than playing zombie rush custom games or joining some random's forge lobby and deleting their stuff (call me evil but I've never laughed harder).

changes always happen for better or worse, i stopped way back in the day but seeing this video does make me wanna play all the new content. I'm glad nexon still tries to improve the game
although im not that old (nearly 17) my brother passed this game on me when i was 8 (2008) i remember that i always loved to train near kerning. in the construction tower were you could stand on a safety fence and attack octopusses without getting hit (ony for ranged) i still remember that i was playing for 2 hours straight and only could get from level 10 to lv14. good days :)

there is maps that have alot of monsters and drop like 6k per bag so you can make there 60mil per 1 hour of farming.
with those mesos you can buy cubes. cubes dosnt cost nx they cost mesos
red cube =12mil each
black cube=22mil each

too much things on screen, too much numbers, too much damage, too much "wtf" teleportation quest. new players are lost in their first hours. nexon need to rework the numbers on damage. reduce the massive numbers on screen, rework all that informations that pop up on screen for new players.
True, i tried getting a friend to try the game he left withing 15 mins cus he was so lost and overwhelmed. U just get thrown into the deep water as a new player

Early 2007-2011 then came back in 2014-present. (with a few inactivity between 2014-2016). Man this game always somewhat finds a way to bring you back & It's ridiculous! I'm surly not the only one thinking that.

Win trading at monster carnival is the most nostaglic thing to me. Too bad it's gone, it helped the community make friends better.
Zodayn same here man I remember trade wins and I miss it so much. Monster carnival was so fun damn that they took it away. It made grinding for lvl back then FUN and more social rather than this quick solo grind we have nowadays. I was playing as a dexless sin lol. I had a sauna robe with Dex a maple kandayo and a bamboo hat. I remember going into the blue monster carnival room with 2v2 and wrecking people. Or the large map for 3v3 I think and people would ask for rombots and stuff. Also the little maple coins that would drop and we'd take turns picking one up for awesome equips! these were the days, maple took it away.
Haha I remember getting scammed when trading wins with people, and getting really mad about it. They were mostly dex-less assassins too.

TheFirst I love the old v83 bgm not the new ones like in a crimson castle or something that has intense music for fighting. My favorite is always going to be the title and lith harbor. ;-; I feel like playing private servers again but I'm lazy to download it.
I can't believe how long it's been since I played this game. I kept trying to get back into it, in hopes of reigniting that same magic from when I first started, back when there were just 4 classes, and I couldn't even make it to 3rd job with my thief. Now, there are just too many things going on, it's impossible to get back into it. The charm and simplicity has simply disappeared.
Yeh whenever i come back to Maple after a break, i just feel so lost tbh, it's so complicated now i can't keep track of everything going on :S

awesome recap! I began in 2007 till now. But there were short and long hauls in between. longest was 2 years cuz i was hacked. sad. it was already difficult to train back then, and gettin hacked just pulverized it
Right now im playing maplelegends which is a private server v62 (just when the pirates came out) and im full of nostalgy, the pqs,old bossing,no pay to win..everyone that misses old maple should join,it'll take you YEARS back!

And Crusher made it all worth it, one of the best physical third job attacks.
Back when the DRAGON KNIGHT class still existed! Will always be my favorite and imo one of the coolest classes in the game.
I remember back in the day I had a "girlfriend" we'd hang out all the time and roleplay and it was a lot of fun in my younger years. I still remember her name being "DearSprings" or something along those lines.
The old time it's not easy to level up like this when they can go to 200 in a day. Each level is precious to player back in the day.
I think I played from 2006-2010... I was like 7 when I played it but seeing the screen there brought all the memories backk omg

2005-2009, Some good times but then my dog died and I felt like a wasted so much time playing maplestory instead of time with him. I quit after that and never played since.

12 years of Maple, I've been playing for like 10.5 of them, and I just hit 200 for the first time today lol.
ahhh as someone who started playing in 2008 it makes me kinda (very) sad to see how much the game's changed.....like i know private servers exist but part of what i loved about maple was how populated and lively it was, so, well, yeah.....
I miss the good old henesys, everyone was on the little barn with the red/blue snails. The good players that sat there always gave me good pots...
that menu theme made me tear up. played from beta to 2009. i can't get into the game now.

I missed doing PQs, used to have loads of people in the lobby, especially Pyramid, that one is the most fun and memorable PQ for me.
Now it's just empty.

when ur aim was to get 4th job, then u need stacks of mesos to buy certain skill books..then from lvl120-200 was a grind...

I first started this game in 2011 when i was 9 up untill around i think 2013/2014 mainly because i lost my account and got fustrated and stopped playing untill recently
Maplestory Big Bang can be summed up in two ways.
Faster leveling and the nerf to all mage 4th job AOE attacks, the Priest taking the biggest hit of them all.
2005-2006-2007-2008-2009-2010-2011-2012 (dead server in sea: everywhere you go, there is no one. it is literally like a ghost town(cc1-cc20 no active people , only afk-ers)-2013 (still dead)-2014(a little dead)-2015(a little bit revived)-2016-revived a bit cause release of 5thjob and a lot of people tried it out. After that, its a little dead again-2017 ~ current year
have a tendency to semi-quit halfway cause lose interest easily LOLZ
until they release new content and then played back again
- the cycle repeats -

The moment Maple decided to add pay to win as a factor , they dug a hole that will keep on getting deeper . If they tried balancing it now , the cashers will get mad . If they tried giving more advantages , the non cashers wouldn't be able to get them . Maple seem to be realising maybe pay to win isn't the best so they decided to backtrack as you can start seeing over spell traces , and CSS etc being able to be bought , but again . Will they ever be able to fix their mistakes ? Probably not .

How about a video of the issues that MapleStory had in its lifetime (and their consequences later in the game).
For example:
- More OP jobs while the autoban system was too thight, banned my friend when he was playing Lumi in Evo system (he also got banned while afk--ing on a rope in sleepywood, reason being 'macro'... wut)
- MTS leaking username and passwords of players
- NPCs that exchanged quest items, but did accept negative numbers, effectively generating mesos (Oh, you want to give me -3 melons? Sure, here you have 3 melons and 3000 mesos)
- Damage limit being hit more easily, so the cap was increased (twice, I recall)
- Meso limit cap removed (2bil to ... a lot more)
- Hackers vaccing NPCs out of the screen, locking everybody in the map that requires an NPC to get out
- Various issues with Big Bang causing server crashes and locks that took up hours.
- KMS introducing a new patch pretty recently, gaining a lot of traffic, causing the servers to be overloaded. They increased the channel max, but this affected the performance even more. Thats why there's up to 30 channels in the change channel screen
- The GM hacks (EMS map teleport, Ecco gaining GM mode on GMS, GMs accounts being stolen)
- Remote Hack, getting temporary ownership of someones account
- KMS maps being ported over but not yet translated, rendering people stuck in some maps.
And much more...
I started from the beginning off GMS-when wizet ran the place ^^ then europe introduced and most europe got banned from gms to play ems :D
my brother got to lvl 170 in the old days after they made it super easy to lvl up though he quit. Idk how tf he got to 170 im 160 rn and am having a hard time. Might start a channel to love ur content btw
Guys, I still play maple till this day (few long break in between) now i have built 6k union and lv235 main, however, I have to say that maple now is still fun to play, early easy leveling and arcane river storyline is really fun, but it is just not friendly to fresh beginner, i invited my fren and I created a new char to play with him, however the damage provided by union created a huge damage gap between us and he can't feel the joy of exploring the really well-built maple world. I started mapling pre big bang and I witness every single change....
I do remember when dual blade came out with insane dmg fatal blow and my old wind breaker still suffer from super low scale damage when doing ghost ship pq, dayum so many things to reminisce..
I played since the beta till now it’s has really been nostalgic journey for me. Snail hunting ground was the place I met all my friends and it’s gone forever now.
Lucid.... Quite sad story she has. Propably one of my favourite video game characters. Sad that I had to kill her (wait did she die when you defeated her in the arcane river?)

*BigBang Update destroyed the game.. Casual games are growing and so did MapleStory. Dedicated players who played for years trying to get close to 4th job did all that hard work in vain. People got level 120+ in a few hours with the right items and all those hardcore players left because of Easy Mode MS just turned up. Played GMS and went over to EMS during my years of 15 to 26. so now it's time for MS2 for nostalgia and recreating of the guild I had for all those years for Swedish players.*

hopped back on when big bang came due to friend's recommendation.
Big bang was terrible! Too many issues with their security. Data leakage led to tons of hackers and lost all my stuff (50mil+ in items and mesos). Nexon compensated with an appearance change coupon... an appearance change coupon!!!!!!
So I quit forever. Was fun before I lost all my stuff though. If not for that data leakage on Nexon's part, I would still be playing.
Same, my account was hacked shortly after Big Bang dropped and stopped playing right there. Although going back now I probably would have stopped anyway with the way the game is now.

dang I don't remember how long ago was it so but like probably 7 or 8 years ago , playing on my archer , farming henesys hunting ground ( more like goimg behind higher level people and collecting the mesos they left to buy equips) and was like wow I really wanna try that gachapon thing , got my phone sent some sms ( cuz i wasn't allowed to use a visa ) , and got a snowboard , got so many whispers from people offering me sooo much mesos , a thing I still remember

From level 1-20 in weeks to level 1-250 in 2-4hours. I remember the good old slow leveling so nostalgic and when you needed cooperation so you made friends and created a party grinding mobs good times.. :) now the servers are literally dead :(
