The no-cooldown full-map attacks did have a tradeoff, though. Do you remember when Bigfoot was glitched, you could poison him with a F/P. Poison was % damage so you could solo bigfoot for massive EXP. IIRC it was a 3rd job skill so lvl 70+ ? IDK that was in 2006
2:22 I'd really argue that doesn't make the game broken, these loopholes actually made the game more closer to real life, because they made the game more nuanced. Nowadays with all the balancing they did, the gameplay is no different as all the characters are map-blasters with no "character".
Ghost Ship aka MP3. Voodoo / Hoodoo in haunted mansion. Gachapon being too P2W. Monster levels not scaling all the way to 200. Himes were level 100..... If anyone is feeling nostalgic, look for Slipy Slidy on YT, he has a pre-bigbang maplestory soundtrack playlist. 10/10 would recommend for the feels
Aran's tempest was WAY more overpowered than genesis. With 1 use it freezes all enemies in the map (larger range than your actual screen) and it makes all enemies be able to be 1hko'd. When you use another tempest directly after, it kills all enemies. This is increadibly useful because you can even 2hko mobs that are way stronger than you. Arans were really underappreciated. :( I miss the good ol' days before they made aran useless.
I do miss old MapleStory and the "broken" things made it more ballanced and fun in my opinion it gave players more options to want to main a certain class/job for their play style. My favorite broken old school MS thing was buccs if timed atacks in a way (dragon dance) you'll almost never get hit since it took a few secons between atacks for it to register that you can be hit again basically you are invincible for like 3 seconds in between each animation and they were basically the only job of then warriors that could defeat Bigfoot without constantly jumping over like assassins had too.
ah yes, I remember the meso explosion days, when we used bandits against Zakum to kill it quicker and sell Zakum helments to people to fund the meso explosion.
My favorite was using PowerKnockback on Dreamy Ghosts (Himes) as a level 42 archer and getting to 105 in a day leeching after hitting once off a DK and Priest.
The thief class pre big bang was also broken as fuck. At 160+ with the insane about of luck and that 4th job skill that made mobs miss you, bosses like czak or horntail would be missing you like 70-90% of the time. I remember hp washing my 2nd NL to 20k+ (think base was 7-9k hp?) with still a fuckton of mp and I was just waiting to buy nx from other people with mesos to hp wash few times a week. Haven't played ms1 since like 2011-2012~ so dont know how much its changed though.
I remember orbis pq glitch for the insane exp. Tiger #1 ranking. Old bamboo hat. The gm scrolls droped by monsters at golden temple. The hammer glitch transfering item to a server anf having extra slots
With a decent team where everyone knows how to run LPQs in normal clears, it's far more effective than smuggle/glitched LPQ Source: I ran dozens of smuggle pqs and normal clears back in the day
i have so little memory of this game when it came out cause I was like 8 or 9 and yes I have the worst memory but what made me come back to this legend is ofc the goddamn orange capped mushrooms, they were adorable
I've been fantasizing about them coming out with an official OS server 06/07/08. I can't even explain how elated I'd be. Seriously. Private servers and all that are cool, but an official oldschool server would just be absolutely fucking INCREDIBLE.
As an old school F/P mage, both poison mist and poison brace/breath shared the same damage formula for damage over time. Lovely if the mobs could be poisoned and damage was looking fairly good. Not so much when at Risell squid and the regular squid would choke the maps resulting in clawing the bloody things to death. But to with regard the comments on Boomers in NLC from earlier. Insanely laggy if one didn't manage the rate of kills and poison before the spawning mechanic was nerfed to the ground. In my case, first hand experience as a f/p who was loaded out as a pizard (A mainly poison based build). Chain that to a little fun with Bigfoot while it still could be poisoned. Much fun if you could kite for 40 seconds while abusing the Jr. Wraiths that littered the maps for the invincibility time. 2.3 million experience for a bit of work was truly broken at that point. Poison also came in rather handy for the original Ludi PQ as well. Didn't matter if we took the set of eyes that was magic resistant. If it could be poisoned, it was fair game. Or for that matter, the only PQ boss that could be poisoned at the time being King Slime.
HP washing worked by putting points into INT (either through AP or by equipment) to up your maximum MP, and then using an AP reset scroll to take out of the INT and put into HP. you never actually added AP into MP.
I don't understand why people mad at Big Bang update. Nostalgia is just nostalgia. Maplestory is MMORPG that have to keep changing. Before Big Bang, It is hard to reach lvl30 and that make me quit the game. But now I can even get 5th jobs easily. I feel accomplishments and motivations of it. Over balancing is not that bad.
@@공성-j6y I guess I'm speaking for mostly the whole community on this point, but not everyone likes playing MMOs alone. It's supposed to be a "MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER ONLINE" game. Sure, the new classes that came out were cool but it was just way too easy and different than what we, the OGs, were all used to. Idk just my opinion. You can disagree, if ya want. Oh and also, nexon fucked up alot of the classes with regards to how the skills work and created a system where cooldowns were necessary for powerful skills when they weren't. Some of the older classes just dont give the same nostalgic feeling you get when you play them nowadays, especially after BB.

If reboot had trading, I'd 100% play again even though I'm not too fond of new MS. I'll get back into it for pathfinder release on GMS ( always have loved archer classes in games), but probably just going to drop it again. Game just feels soulless and extremely gimmicky nowadays. I went back and played on a BBB server and had a blast; only reason I was dissuaded from continuing was because of the fact that in the end its not an official version of the game. Also because of the very small community, just kinda turned me off. If they ever release a BBB server, with non p2w like Reboot, while also having trading - I'd play that shit like crazy.
I wish pq in party would still be the go to leveling method nowadays Now I just teleport to the best places and nuke the maps even just starting out with some classes
Something no one talks about: the closest non-MMO experience to maple story is the wonderboy/monster world series for sega consoles. I think the original korean developers of maplestory 1.0 were directly inspired by those games.

Saddest part is Big Bang mega nerfed all the mage classes into nothing, and rather than revamp them to a higher power level, they chose to compensate by making more Magician based classes. (Currently there's 9 magician classes, archers only have 5.)
The accuracy and stats requirements was such a huge disappointment. People spent months or years to increase accuracy and dex through equipments then one update later all of that was irrelevant lmao
Royals is trash and its full of badmins, and the owner doesn't know anything about nostalgia or how the game was actually implemented with GMS updates.

What are more broken things you remember from Old school MapleStory?
orbis pq rush
Priests coz they saved potions with self heal.
@@foussi739 not really actually, the skill actually burnt through my mp pots
Ghost Ship aka MP3. Voodoo / Hoodoo in haunted mansion. Gachapon being too P2W. Monster levels not scaling all the way to 200. Himes were level 100.....
If anyone is feeling nostalgic, look for Slipy Slidy on YT, he has a pre-bigbang maplestory soundtrack playlist. 10/10 would recommend for the feels
Old Jetts
Aran's tempest was WAY more overpowered than genesis. With 1 use it freezes all enemies in the map (larger range than your actual screen) and it makes all enemies be able to be 1hko'd. When you use another tempest directly after, it kills all enemies. This is increadibly useful because you can even 2hko mobs that are way stronger than you. Arans were really underappreciated. :( I miss the good ol' days before they made aran useless.
When they launched WOW classic.. the first thing i thought was of an maple classic server ;P
We used to smuggle the snowball throwing gloves out of the christmas world and you could throw arrows with them.
My favorite was using PowerKnockback on Dreamy Ghosts (Himes) as a level 42 archer and getting to 105 in a day leeching after hitting once off a DK and Priest.
which maplestory do you play now a days coppersan, and which region?
Actually playing Old School Maple right now. Smuggle is still a thing, the game brings back the nostalgia, pretty fun.
4:02 well actully jett has an massive aoe attack that works like the old arch mage spells
didn't they nerf it?
@@xMortalBlade ye they gave it a cd even though i think some maple servers still have a spammable version
Ah yes. 4th job. The moment Hermits went from a god among gods, to exclusive boss gods.
You mean bm’s
Ohhh man I loved my chief bandit. Those gobies and their houses didn’t stand a chance. I remember dropping mesos so quick with a lasting method.
Let’s not forget terrorizing new players at Kering city and Henesys by summoning all manner of monsters😼.
With a decent team where everyone knows how to run LPQs in normal clears, it's far more effective than smuggle/glitched LPQ
Source: I ran dozens of smuggle pqs and normal clears back in the day
Big bang ruined maplestory :( I miss bigfoot days, hp washing, fewer jobs, hard to lvl .. I miss everything.
IPunketOz GMS Broa here ❤
i have so little memory of this game when it came out cause I was like 8 or 9 and yes I have the worst memory
but what made me come back to this legend is ofc the goddamn orange capped mushrooms, they were adorable
I've been fantasizing about them coming out with an official OS server 06/07/08. I can't even explain how elated I'd be. Seriously. Private servers and all that are cool, but an official oldschool server would just be absolutely fucking INCREDIBLE.
I know this video is about 3 years old or so but finding your channel made me fall in love with MapleStory again
they should make an old school server but with all the current updated new look of the HP and item slots.
That full map attack like genesis did infact happen again but by mistake. The jett revamp had a genesis attack before i got nerfed
It was broken but it was more fun WAYYY MORE FUN, they could've fixed it and made some nerfs not ruining the whole game sadly..
This wanna make me go Death Mine to train my Hunter lvl 60 to get to lvl 70 so I can reach Ranger with the cool Strife skill .
HP washing worked by putting points into INT (either through AP or by equipment) to up your maximum MP, and then using an AP reset scroll to take out of the INT and put into HP. you never actually added AP into MP.
I misss those days, chatting expending time to raise 1 lvl, also the Teddy’s gost, it’s no the same right now
Meso bomb did cap,i think cap was 5k or 10k bags anything more didnt scale dmg higher
I miss the community so much 😭. The community was BROKEN once Nexon started pushing out the shitty updates like Big Bang and forward.
Big bang wasn't bad
I don't understand why people mad at Big Bang update. Nostalgia is just nostalgia. Maplestory is MMORPG that have to keep changing. Before Big Bang, It is hard to reach lvl30 and that make me quit the game. But now I can even get 5th jobs easily. I feel accomplishments and motivations of it. Over balancing is not that bad.
@@공성-j6y I guess I'm speaking for mostly the whole community on this point, but not everyone likes playing MMOs alone. It's supposed to be a "MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER ONLINE" game. Where you PLAY with others ONLINE. After BB, everyone started to quit. The community shrank smaller and smaller.
@@foussi739 your opinion is ok.
well if you are looking for nostalgia there is a server that i highly recommend ^_^
only OG's got to experience Maplestory PVP
HOLY COPPERSAN LOOKS LIKE A CHAD
Maple story was unbelievably broken back then it’s crazy.
My main complaint is that they put a cooldown on heal. I hardly used to die so I just jumped into stuff and explored high level areas, but not anymore lol
Hi, i remember your youtube videos since i was playing Europe Maplestory back in 2007 or so, its nice to see that you are still around, things like this keep our childhoods memories alive. And if i remember well, back then your name was copperchan.
I miss playing drop game in the Kerning hospital area.. 55mil steelies got yoinked and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world
Oh man, the memories from those PQs ... good times
If anyone misses this old MS just join up MapleRoyals... perfect old gen maple with a big community with 800+ players everyday love the old ones
I remember it used to cost 5m to kill big foot. I sold leeches for 35mil back in the day. EZ money & I was like lv 110.
I wish pq in party would still be the go to leveling method nowadays
Now I just teleport to the best places and nuke the maps even just starting out with some classes
Dragon knights full map attack was actually better than mages. You could ks them in hhg1 just needed hp pots to spam.
Yeah, a major reason I made a mage was because their 4th job skills were busted haha. They were hella expensive to play, though.. oof
I played maple futher back then when there is no 3rd job and leveling is a pain in the ass when you use cleric which doesnt do much damage
Something no one talks about: the closest non-MMO experience to maple story is the wonderboy/monster world series for sega consoles. I think the original korean developers of maplestory 1.0 were directly inspired by those games.
Did that have anything to do with wonderking? wonderking was like a clone of Maplestory, in some ways better.
@@cayennemist Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I had never heard of it before. Well it's clearly a maplestory clone from 2007, and yes the name shows awareness of the relation to wonderboy.
Man, I used to sit there and hit my meteor over and over and over just to find out other people where jamming their keys down before they patched that lol. Good ol days
I love old MS. I hope it come back
Saddest part is Big Bang mega nerfed all the mage classes into nothing, and rather than revamp them to a higher power level, they chose to compensate by making more Magician based classes. (Currently there's 9 magician classes, archers only have 5.)
I lovs this nostalgic videos man, keep it up 🤩
Btw maybe you can do a video on the pet hack that used to run? this shit waS nice
Damn I never had "money problems" in ms.
I was from those who stay in fm and just stay lvl 40ish but really rich
How about poison mages cloning the yellow bomb mobs? So laggy but so much exp.
I play maplestory long time, but I can't make the class level 200 because I always can't enough mesos in old maplestory world.
The accuracy and stats requirements was such a huge disappointment. People spent months or years to increase accuracy and dex through equipments then one update later all of that was irrelevant lmao
Good times when you could focus on just 1 character and not grind to 10k+ legion..
Didn't Jett have a full map attack some time ago after it was revamped?
You can play MapleRoyals if you miss the good old days, it has 1.5~2k players at all times, it's great.
Royals is trash and its full of badmins, and the owner doesn't know anything about nostalgia or how the game was actually implemented with GMS updates.
@@Tripping0ut Yeah I know, but it's the most populated server right now.
Fuck the admins
wait it was broken?
always has been
Coppersan should buy the license of old school maple and become a GM. I would definitely play his server and buy all the cash item.
Would be so cool if nexon follows the path of blizzard. How they created "Classic WoW".
Imagine classic "Maplestory". Would be so cool.
That's what reboot is for and there will be no classic ms because the fan base is way lower then wow. Wow ps had 150k people Online at some point while ms never had that.
@@MrTheVadimpje you play reboot? I've been wanting to make the switch but it's hard to leave my Scania characters. If you say reboot is as close as ms will get to early ms then I might just have to give it a shot. Especially now that kanna will be getting that awesome revamp. Il roll a kanna in reboot for sure.
@@edgararcega3046 Reboot is just Maplestory how it is now, without trading or P2W. Everything else is virtually the same, there is still and INSANE power creep on everything, and it's still just mindless grinding for hours on end. It's better, but not close to old maple.
Honestly old school maplestory was pretty balanced in my eyes. Mages got a map wide skill, but were shit at bossing which was another completely viable way of lvling. The other classes had superior single target dps and decent mobbing. Meso explosion literally made you broke depending on how much dmg you wanted to do.
Omfg, my childhood... goddemit
You can get to 200+ in a few hours.
Current maple is broke.
This.
Exactly.
Noo.. misusing just take 19min
yeah but the max level is 275 now.
Level 200 is like getting to 120.
275 takes a long time
