    Best Buy had them on sale a few times at $699.00. I love mines, the Sub will shake your house. The dialogue is excellent. When watching Dolby Atmos or 5.1 keep the EQ on Direct.

      And that's what's it worth.

      No man. Direct sucks. Movie is much better for bass and it will spread stereo sources across the center channel even in wide mode. In up mode every thing will use all speakers including the 4 heights. Even with an atmos source movie is the way to go as it just adds bass better dialog and will still give you discrete object placement same goes for dts-x. If it is 7.1 or below source than up mode will use the DSU upmixer and spread it across all speakers including heights. Direct sounds flat and really holds back the bar especially in stereo content where it only uses the left and right and wide left and right. It needs the center speaker to really sound good as the left and right on their own do not cut it. If you enjoy having to crank the bar to 75 to hear it than keep using direct.

      Certain settings (such as dialogue) can’t be adjusted while in direct mode.

      Switching to direct solved most of my sound problems. When I was watching Dune, I had on volume leveling and movie mode. The action scenes sounded muffled. Switching to direct and turning off volume leveling made it sound amazing... Although now it's harder to hear dialogue

    I bought this, and the sound is awesome, straight out of the box. It sounds sooo much better than the 5.1 Onkyo system that it replaced. The only problem is I haven't been able to update the firmware on it (not that I think the sound needs improving, but it is annoying knowing that it has an update that I an not able to install). I spent over an hour today with support, and with their help, was still to able to get the install to work. So, Vizio is sending me a new unit, and I am to ship back to them this unit when I get it. I got this one at an excellent price ($400.99), new from Best Buy, and would just keep it, inspite of not being able to do the update, if they weren't sending me a replacement unit.

      Dunno if you managed to do it but this is how I udpated mine:
      - Use a USB Flash drive with less than 2gb (If you have one with more capacity, you can find on google how to shrink the capacity, in my case I put as 1gb storage size, if it's more than 2gb, the soundbar will not read).
      - Turn the sound bar on, put in the USB stick, remove the power cord, and put it back on again, then it should work
      - In my case it didn't worked, so after this you hold the + and - buttons next to the sound bar, it will say to you the firmware version and in my case started updating only after this.
      Wait until you hear firmware updated then you're good to go, hopefully it helped you.

    Man the Elevate really impressed me. It's honestly a very powerful soundbar. I managed to get it at $700 on last year's black Friday and for the price there wasn't a better package. The problem is that it had so many anoying bugs that I had to return it. If it wasn't for that I would have kept it for sure.

    The more research I do, the more I narrow it down to this and the Nakamichi Shockwafe Elite. I have heard of some bugs with this one being difficult to work with, and I wish it was a little cheaper.

  • @raidendigital1003
    @raidendigital1003 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    A little expensive, but it's got thingies that rotate up like an Intrepid Class Starship (ST: Voyager) so I can't knock it. So I found another (4) JBL GO2's in a lime green color. I was thinking I could try this and make a video; The four green's in front as LCR's with a green one above and below the screen. The rose gold pair as surround, the orange pair as surround back. I was thinking too, maybe buy an atmos processor / preamp, and then just go crazy buying more GO2's and make an atmos system. Also, all the ones I found at Ross are the OG ones with the more heavy lead weight in them. Nice.

    Does anyone know how active the height speakers are supposed to be during Atmos content? Mine activate and point upwards but when putting my ear up to the speaker I hear nothing... Except maybe a little bit of sound if a helicopter is in the movie. Are those height speakers just there for the occasional effect?

    If there's one thing I favour soundbars over AV setups... unlike an av setup where one is always forced to increase the volume of the centre channel therefore as well as the dialogue everything else coming from the centre channel is always way too loud!
    Soundbars for bedrooms.
    AVRs for living room or dedicated Theatre room.

      You will miss out. Sub up front is fine but getting the speakers to the back adds a lot to the sound

    • @Psythik
      @Psythik หลายเดือนก่อน

      Don't *ever* do this. Buy a cheaper sound bar with no rear channels if you don't want surround speakers. Sound bars meant for front usage only will provide a much more convincing surround sound effect in your situation. That said, the best possible Atmos setup has dedicated speakers installed in the ceiling. But most people don't want to drill holes in their ceiling so a sound bar like this is second best. Personally I think you should just suck it up and install this soundbar properly. The sub is wireless and the surround speakers connect to the sub, so there's really no excuse to not install them the right way.
