Will definitely tune in. My husband and I are right where you are and we are 65 and 63. In debt, no retirement and I am already on disability with depression and anxiety. I think this journey you are on is great and I hope I can learn. Best of luck

I agree with the upping your spoken volume and lowering (getting rid of) the background music.

Yes! I hate music in the background on videos when someone is talking. It competes, makes it hard to hear the person talking and sometimes for me makes the video unwatchable. If you have hearing or processing disorders it is almost impossible.
If there is not music I feel your voice is loud enough. You have a very soothing way of talking.

It is very brave of you to have made this admission. I had the same relationship with money - up until I met my husband and I was able to assist him in his business and it has since then worked out for us. I was in my mid 30’s when we met and even tho I was living on my own and had my own place - I was always struggling to stay afloat I was always only a few paycheques away from financial ruin. I had undiagnosed manic behaviour patterns that landed me in precarious situations. But I met my husband and he basically threw me a life raft. … I am so very fortunate - even tho I have helped him to build up the business - I never forget how lucky I am to have met my lovely husband now 27-years ago! We had 2-boys - twins. … I just love ❤ your dad’s quote - it makes perfect sense. And I love the feel of your work Amanda ❤️ … much love from Toronto 🇨🇦 🍁

First of all, you look amazing!! I hope that you are feeling good as well. So.proud of you to openly discuss your finances. We all have them, money in and out, and your videos are going to help people that are embarrassed to admit and commit to a different way of doing things. I will listen just to learn something that might help me. Thank you Amanda, for sharing and trusting us. I'm sure this was difficult.

My husband and I write down all spending in a binder. This is just to remind us of where it was spent. We have done this for years, and decided to stop. Well…OCD..set in, and we still track our spending. Haw….. it’s an easy first step.

So happy that your brother could help you out with the vet bills.would be awful not to have anyone to help out in an emergency. I’m so pleased that Louis was able to have treatment ❤

I completely understand and it’s so frustrating. Unfortunately I have probably taught my kids the same patterns as my parents taught or not taught me 🤯 I have a feeling a lot of people are in the same situation ❤️❤️❤️

Thanks for sharing. It's not easy being vulnerable (millions of ppl to watch and criticize you). So, I "hate" debt, one of the reason (i think) I don't want children. I want to be in control and with kids and pets, I only have so much control. I realized in my teens how money controlled people and I wanted for me the opposite. I have a good relationship with money (& I say good bcuz there is always room for improvement). Yes. You can radically change this area of your life. It won't be easy, but it's possible. You need to take small steps. One example of a small step that I took...I cannot use plastic bags to collect my yard waste, and the lawn and leaf bags have increased in price since covid. In the Fall, I have a lot of leaves (like 80 paper bags), so this grl decided she will collect boxes. I tld my fam and friends (and others) that I was collecting boxes. My church had a food drive and placed quite a few boxes in the dumpster, guess who went dumpster diving😂😂? Every penny counts.

You need a good financial advisor. They will look at everything and make suggestions. Think of it like financial therapy. Im on the same journey. You have no reason to be ashamed. I admire you so much. I believe you can arrive at the point you want to. I would like to be as brave as you one day.

Pet insurance is amazing. I am in Canada but I'd hope it's available everywhere. One serious pet incident and it more than pays for itself.

It’s got to be really hard to not get a weekly or biweekly paycheck.I don’t think I would be good at that

It’s very hard. The alternative is I do what I love. I’m
      Not sure the answer.

Just think the global bankers would have no control if we could just be less materialistic and learn to barter and trade with each other and go back to being neighborly. Much more freedom for all!

I hope Louis is just fine now. I never had children either and my cats were my babies and there was nothing I wouldn’t do for them. Medical bills with the pet that are very high. They truly are but again there’s nothing I wouldn’t have done for them.

Hi Amanda, you look so cute 😊. Interesting subject to have on your channel. I don't have a savings account at 66 yrs old. Just have my social security. Will be interested in how you navigate to save money ❤

I am more of a saver….my husband is a spender…..however after my own cancer journey and 70 years of age I’m slowly moving to his side being a spender……but it scares me….🙈😳😱. I hope Louis is better and is home with you now….I have a special dog Maggie and I would totally spend whatever it took to help her also….

Can you tell us how you were raised? Like any religious belief or none. We’re you raised with a mom and dad? And what’s your favorite part of being an adult? On debt? Do you own a car? And paying off your smallest debt first is called snowballing. And go to the next one and watch it disappear.

Thanks for sharing this vulnerability of yours on a public platform. Shame creates more shame and stress. I, too, have a complicated relationship with money, which, at time, has led to not the best decisions that I'm still paying for (pun intended.) I recommend @itsrosehan and @YourRichBFF here on TH-cam. The "snowball" method has helped me. Loved the video and look forward to watching this series and cheering you on. Minor ask: In your next video, can you lower the volume of your background music and/or choose softer music? I found myself increasing my volume to hear your thoughtful words at the beginning to try to offset the music. Thanks and have a wonderful fall PNW weekend.
