Oh man, that was amazing. And I imagine it must feel great for dankpods, after his dad wanted him to make something for himself and now he's able to support himself *and* his mum/his dad's wife in a genuinely rewarding way. Like he's employing her because he really does need her expertise and she's been a massive benefit to his business.

Dude you are an absolute hero, I used to watch you a ton a few years back, showed your videos to my parents “watch this funny Aussie talk about iPods mom”, and hearing your origin story is actually really moving, you’ve made me laugh in the worst of times, and today is one of those days where I wouldn’t mind if a car hit me hard enough to make it stop, but these videos make those thoughts disappear, they make me smile and forget, thank you
We need more actual personalities like this on TH-cam. This is how TH-cam should be! So many TH-camrs seem like their just acting however will get their videos the most views
It's actually kinda sad to realize that your last statement is factual reality. With the advent of automated algorithms and tightened restrictions imposed by sponsorships (and big companies wonder why we hate them), it's channels like Dankpods that keep my hope in TH-cam alive. 'Cause if you dare to break the shackles placed on you by companies and plot your own course of action, you live to the platform's true purpose. One that was long forgotten: to make videos, for the sake of making videos.
When he talked about his break down I felt horrible about how much he was going through and how exhausted he had to be. I am so glad your doing better.
The same is true of most "self-made" success stories. Always a hell of a lot more interesting than "they were born into money then they made a bunch more money by using the old money to generate new money".

I already supported you on Patreon for Dankmus when you launched this channel, and found it from the TH-cam community tab when you had, like, 70 subscribers here. I remember watching the ShrekPod video and wondering how the heck such entertaining content could only have, like, a hundred views. Then you completely blew up. No ads, no sponsorships, just one entertaining aussie bloke doing something he clearly has an immense passion for and is having the time of his life doing it. I've been working my butt off the last few years to establish myself creatively (pixel artist/illustrator) and seeing the success of people like you who are doing their own thing, 100% for the love and the fun of it, helps me remember that it's possible to not only make a living of it but to THRIVE. As another Aussie musician, seeing where you've come from is baffling to me. I never had the space and resources to record and really practise until my lungs, embouchure and fingers hurt. Music was never 'stable' and therefore I went to uni studying more academic topics. Music was always something you could do if you had the extra money, time and most importantly mentality to do. But seeing you go at it really put things in perspective for me, I've had a similar outlook on audio gear despite being a follower of audiophile equipment for a long time. I've following and watching since that very first 1000GB iPod vid, and I'll be here to stay!
Knew you'd make a million the first vid I watched. The editing was crisp, and the narration was entertaining and informative at the same time. Frank endcards are also something to look forward to.
This channel has become one of my sources for "comfort videos" every week. I love seeing/hearing about tech that I've never heard of and ones that I remember vividly. My love for music and audio hardware stemmed from you back in late 2020, and so many of my decisions are directly based on you because you're basically the only one consistent enough between reviews. Learning about how much happenstance to get to Dankpods, which then led to so many great discoveries and experiences for me is something else. A lot I actually related to, and incredibly wholesome! I just finished and I don't think I've ever had a bigger dopamine hit one after another. There is so much lore to the Dank universe!

It's nice to see a content creator that understand Gabe Newell's mindset about piracy and doesn't go out of his way damaging his content to stop pirates, but instead makes it so that people actually don't have the incentive to pirate by making sure people can afford the bonus stuff easily. The penny drop that happened when I realised that you were the one doing the Dankmus videos. I loved your music when I found it back in mid 2019. I looked forward to every release and I remember having particularly shit day at work when you released Drinkypoos, and listening to that made everything I experienced that day feel just fine because I got to listen to a new Dankmus beat. During March-April 2020 I was miserable because I was working in a doctor’s office by myself, and I listened to your beats driving 40 minutes to work. It's actually kinda sad to realize that your last statement is factual reality. With the advent of automated algorithms and tightened restrictions imposed by sponsorships (and big companies wonder why we hate them), it's channels like Dankpods that keep my hope in TH-cam alive.
'Cause if you dare to break the shackles placed on you by companies and plot your own course of action, you live to the platform's true purpose. One that was long forgotten: to make videos, for the sake of making videos.

As another Aussie musician, seeing where you've come from is baffling to me. I never had the space and resources to record and really practise until my lungs, embouchure and fingers hurt. Music was never 'stable' and therefore I went to uni studying more academic topics. Music was always something you could do if you had the extra money, time and most importantly mentality to do.
But seeing you go at it really put things in perspective for me, I've had a similar outlook on audio gear despite being a follower of audiophile equipment for a long time. I've following and watching since that very first 1000GB iPod vid, and I'll be here to stay!
Knew you'd make a million the first vid I watched. The editing was crisp, and the narration was entertaining and informative at the same time. Frank endcards are also something to look forward to.

My love for music and audio hardware stemmed from you back in late 2020, and so many of my decisions are directly based on you because you're basically the only one consistent enough between reviews. Learning about how much happenstance to get to Dankpods, which then led to so many great discoveries and experiences for me is something else. A lot I actually related to, and incredibly wholesome!

It's nice to see a content creator that understand Gabe Newell's mindset about piracy and doesn't go out of his way damaging his content to stop pirates, but instead makes it so that people actually don't have the incentive to pirate by making sure people can afford the bonus stuff easily. The penny drop that happened when I realised that you were the one doing the Dankmus videos. I loved your music when I found it back in mid 2019. I looked forward to every release and I remember having particularly shit day at work when you released Drinkypoos, and listening to that made everything I experienced that day feel just fine because I got to listen to a new Dankmus beat.
During March-April 2020 I was miserable because I was working in a doctor’s office by myself, and I listened to your beats driving 40 minutes to work. It just made me forget for a little bit how shit everything was. I still to this day have have Dinner Alone in my regular playlist because that shit SLAPS.
