I can resignate with his hard TH-cam is, I’ve been creating for 7 years but I can tell you now that even if you don’t get loads of views, the things you will learn and the confidence you will gain aswell as the purpose you’ll feel creating videos is so worth it!

yup. been on this for a year now.. i'm at $5-$10K a month with only 18k subscribers on yt. i have an email list. free community, paid masterclass, one on one coaching and a pro group. only a 1/4 of that amount comes from YT. I started building a community around my content when I had 900 subscribers. Started with merch. Now i have 6 businesses.

@@justinuriahphoto sometimes on their website off of TH-cam they have a landing page which asks for their email. Or they offer a free item when you put in your email.
Hi Meredith. I agree wholeheartedly about the pursuit of that Silver Play button. I have 164K subs on my own channel and don't have one. Know why? Because I can't spend it and can't feed it to my family. Pursuing those other goals makes so much more sense. Good for you, and thanks for sharing your wisdom with the business community.

I agree that email is so important! As a viewer, I used to use the YT email notifications to keep up with creators I follow. Well, YT stopped sending those and now I can only get notifications from YT even though I have email turn on. So, as a viewer, I started looking gif those emails directly from the creators so I didn’t miss their content.
I’m in the process of getting back up and running in my own channel again and I thank you for your content!
What a wonderful video. I’m at 54k and and super focused on 100k silver play. As I’m listening to you I’m realizing that my revenue hasn’t really increased much from 20K to 54k. You’ve opened on my eyes maybe I am focused on the wrong thing ❤

the thing about capturing emails is that we can always communicate with those people - we're not reliant on a third party platform like youtube that can change its rules at any time

Really great video. I really like number 6. I started realizing that so much info contradicts each other. No one is right or wrong. It's just a different approach. People look for free stuff from everyone instead of investing in one method and going in on that.

Saw ur video for the first time and halfway through couldn’t resist to tap on subscribe button🥰it was like u were talking about all of my pain points. On top of that u really have a gift of articulation of ideas and describing that with smooth flow and ease, and that’s a deadly combo👏u went straight into the points but it didn’t seem like u were hurrying or piling on too much information at once although it is a lot of information but it didn’t feel like a pressure but a combination of so many ahaa moments for me. Did you resolve the invalid traffic issue? My channel has been dealing with it over a year. I’m not sure what to do at this point. It has reduced my revenue to less than 1/3 of what it was.
I’m just cooking and gardening uploading and see how it goes.

I’m in the process of pivoting away from making more “entertainment” content toward more educational content and I’ve really enjoyed your videos. I’ve got over 200k subs on my channel, but it’s hard to know if pivoting that channel will make sense since the content will be markedly different. But that’s where I get caught up in the weeds. I appreciate your sharing these lessons. It’s very helpful to have them as reference points.

This was really great thanks so much for doing it. I’m coming up on almost 5,000 subscribers and this is exactly what I’ve been thinking about- what am I building and am I even focused on the right thing?
I’m an art channel, so I make art. Art though is a funny thing- you need it or you don’t. You can like what I do, but still not need it.
So, I’ve begun to research the business side a little more while still making my art as well as uploading regularly.
I think you’ve helped me confirm I’m on the right path and need to focus on the business I want, not the channel I have. 🙂

Or create a real business not built on a foundation of quick sand. TH-cam's business model is to profit off you while coming up with more and more creative ways to make you unprofitable. TH-cam's success is inversely proportional to your success. The rise of AI has made the game even more fraught. All TH-cam needs is attention. The quality of the content doesn't matter. Many extremely successful channels are just pure nonsense. Apply AI to the formula and you, the "creator" disappears. Notice all the very successful TH-camrs increasingly leaving the platform? They are successful because they are good at reading tea leaves.
That said, if you are realistic, creative, incredibly self-motivated and want to leverage the platform for a quick money hit, go for it. Maybe you can even make enough in a few years to never need to make money again. But be honest with yourself about whether you are capable of being in the top one percent. Or want to pay the personal cost.
I'll flip Ed Sheeran's rap "You need me, I don't need you" on its head..."you need TH-cam, man, they don't need you." Keep it real.

I have 33 subscribers haha. I just want to get to 1000 so I can start getting monetized but throughout the journey, I'm more focused on getting good watch time and returning viewers :)

How do you collect emails on TH-cam?
Hello from Gatlinburg TN Smoky Mountains Park..I share my TH-cam videos on Facebook after I upload and it's helped me big tine! I do Vlogs Daily here in Gatlinburg where we get 16 mil visiting a year 🏞️🌄🐻
Questions I have that I'm trying to figure out so I can get started: Did you register a name for your business or create an LLC? How are you paying taxes from all of these streams of income? Are you using an online company to help sell your products? If so, which ones? Squarespace has some options but I'm looking for what the majority use. How are you creating email lists? What program are you using to store them all? Are you sending out a single mass email each time? What are some best practices when sending emails? Frequency of emails? I'm an outdoor channel and use shorts primarily. I've gained 10k subs since January. I've had an account since early 2000's but never posted anything much. Now I see how I can generate an income through this and I want to build on that. Thanks.
Lots of questions! Let’s see if I can answer some. I do have an LLC. I pay taxes like any other self employed person. I host my products on Kajabi. Kajabi does email too but I use ConvertKit for email. I send emails to my list a few times a week. Long form videos are the bread and butter on TH-cam. Shorts don’t really do much for my channel so I stopped making them. It’s hard to get watch time with shorts and the TH-cam algorithm loves watch time.

I believe there are many musicians who generate revenue from teaching their instrument online.
