The latest Ultimate Collector Series (UCS) LEGO Star Wars set is yet another X-Wing. While at first glance, we may have dismissed LEGO Star Wars 75355 X-Wing Starfighter as nothing we haven't seen before, there are enough new features on this, the third UCS X-Wing to make it well worth its relatively low price tag (relative to other recent UCS sets, at least).

Appreciate the review. I'm excited about the set. I think compared to today's prices it's on point, and I think the accuracy of this set is much better than previous X-Wing sets, both UCS and playset.

I can't wait to get this !!...for me personally I couldn't give a toss about minifigures or prequel or spin-off related Sets (apart from the razor crest and mandolorians helmet im solely interested in the original trilogy vehicles and ships so this will be my first UCS and I think it looks fantastic 👍😉
Im glad you pointed out the exposed studs as i thought it was going to be another reviewer complaining that the model is not 'smooth' enough. Don't get me wrong, a tiled and smooth finish is nice, but it's lego, it has to have plenty of studs, I think you should be able to see lots of studs and tiles! Good review as always!

Everybody is complaining about the price, but this set has 500+ more pieces than the 2013 version, prints, a lot of new parts, an exclusive figure, and if we take the inflation in consideration, than it's actually cheaper than the 2013 set!

Not a fan of builds with elastics either.
I love the exposed studs. As someone who started with Lego around 2001 or so, I am getting frustrated and bored with modern Lego, and how overly optimized and fiddly the designs are. Putting together thousands of 1x1 bricks to create extremely detailed sets that are smaller than their predecessors and cost twice as much is just not fun for me.
I love the design of this set. I agree, the box image makes it look weird, but otherwise it looks amazing. Cant wait to get mine

My complaints: The nose and the canons should be in light gray instead of white. Just my choice of color
The front top, between the nose and the end of the cockpit is the same bad angle like before, also the bottom of the windscreen. Step forward only with the engines, thats are more movie realistic.
Yiur R2D2 looked to have level dome printing... It's worth the price of admision alone

the missing LANDING PADS annoys me a bit.
The part between the wings that you say could have been covered up, to me, actually looks like the source material though 🤷🏻♂️ there seems to be an ‘unfinished’ type of utilitarian area on the inside of the wings.
I've checked the source material and you are right! I never realised under the wings there was such a large exposed area! I take it back, that's great attention to detail!

It’s great that you love the set. But I think whilst it does have some good points, it does have some bad ones too. Firstly the proportions aren’t correct, especially when it comes to the astromech. Having a minifigure scale droid in a set that’s clearly not minfigure scale is silly. Second, yes the wing mechanism is simple, but it’s also really flimsy. Just look at how droopy the wings are in both open and closed positions. Then there’s the colour. Yet again LEGO make a white ship when it’s a light grey one in universe. They did this with the UCS snowspeeder too. I kinda get why they do this, LEGO only has so many colours after all, but it still feels wrong. And going back to the flimsy point there are lots of gaps in the design and lots of loose parts that simply drop off, as you demonstrated when showing off the wings.
I think the previous UCS x wing is actually a better design despite someone equally large issues with that design. 🤔🤷😂

6:54 Hello BF. I notice the light gray 5 sided tiles were not "mirrored". Meaning the bottom left is at the far left of engine and far right is left of the engine. Do you see it? 7:53 too. Is that the build? If so I would mod that to make it completely even. LMK.
It's in the design, it's deliberately asymmetrical I think!
I wasn’t as happy with the build-or there were some parts that I did not like. The parts of assembly once it’s put on the stand, bug me. The stand is unstable for using as foundation for installing parts. I had a number of issues getting the wings mounted and I don’t think they’re that stable when they’re on. And the mechanism for opening and closing wings (which I built correctly), if you turn too far, can over extend causing that function not to work properly. Which means complete disassembly of the rear part of the chassis to fix. I’ve built 18 UCS sets, and this was the least impressive build for me, which frustrates me as it’s my favorite Star Wars vehicle. I wasn’t happy with this set.
They try and make this version 3 more look like lego with more exposed studs not like other historical UCS that had more smooth surfaces . Disappointing R2is to small way under scale and engines are a bit big .
the build still look pretty bad compare to many MOC. they still arent able to provide a correct windscreen :( and the wings not correctly fixed its a yikes. no landing gear (while somes MOC are doing it)
Imho lego official builder still have a very long way to go..
It still looks too basic. The plain white color. The stubby short wings. The closed S foils are saggy. I could go on...
The UCS A Wing and Y Wing were perfection. This is terrible.

I totally agree. I was really not that bothered about this when I saw the reveal pics, but man was I wrong! Great set!
