- Happy New Year! Although it is another rainy day here in New England, we are taking a drive to Maine....more specifically, the Beach and then we will do some shopping. At the end of the video I will share my purchases, and I definitely got some goodies....Half off! Thank you for coming along!!

My grandmother used to say "you'll never get to where you want to be if you only travel on the sunny days" I love a trip to the sea when the weather is gloomy - it lifts my spirits! Thank you for taking us on the trip. A very happy and healthy New Year to you and your family.

I have to say that I also love the ocean, but only on sunny days. I find it almost scary and depressing on windy rainy days. Years ago I would take my beach chair and a good book and escape to the beach for a few hours, to Salisbury state park and also went in and out of many antique shops and purchased many little items for my yard and home and loved it , but that was so many years ago, and looking back, I wonder where I got all my energy. Ha. 🤔 now in my late 70’s my favorite place in the world to be is in my home and yard and couldn’t care less if I go anywhere. Very content with my very simple life and thankful. 🌸

Carla - I absolutely love rainy days! My friends find it humorous that my favorite days to grocery shop, peruse “junk” shops, etc., are rainy days. Find a unique, cozy restaurant & slowly enjoy a warm meal. There’s just something about being safely indoors amongst others, warm & dry, while watching the rain through a window. Drive with the wipers, headlights, & beautiful music on - I love it.
My family vacationed on the east coast when I was young, we’d start in North Carolina & tent camp up the coast all the way to Maine (six of us in only a station wagon with camping supplies stored in a carrier on top, can you imagine?!😊). It’s been my dream to locate to the east coast ever since, however at the point I’m still in northern Indiana. The dream is still alive in my heart, though!

I went walking with a friend along The South Wall in Dublin Bay yesterday, New Year's Day. It has its own iconic lighthouse.
It was definitely "a moody day in Dublin" weather wise. It was misty, raining and the brisk easterly wind blowing in from the Irish Sea made for a "bracing" walk. The type of wind to put "colour in your cheeks!" I enjoyed every minute of it of my walk. There were lots of hardy folk well wrapped up, some walking with their children and dogs. Being Irish I'm used to wind and rain. We have had a lot of it in 2023.

Amazing how similar you and I are in the things you chose to experience on this day. I live in Portsmouth. The local beaches in both Maine in New Hampshire are my absolute favorite HAPPY places. I LOVE Stonewall Kitchen. Many years ago I lived in Cape Neddick. At the time there was still a Lighthouse Keeper living on the premises. My husband at the time had met him and he went out to visit with him a few times. Nubble is also a place deep in my heart. I’m certain there are many others who feel as we do. Life here in New England is part of the fabric of my soul.
Wow, you definitely have lived (and still do) in some beautiful places. I agree that New England is such a special place. I tell my friends that grew up here how spoiled they are. There is so much to see and do here in N.E., I would be perfectly content just to vacation here for many years. Oh my, I just found you & im sooo delighted. I live in KS with my husband. We’ve been here for very many years. At heart I’m a Bostonian. I so love New England & have much family there. I’m going to go back to your first video & binge watch your shows. The first one I watched was the one about your fave authors of N. E. I was not familiar with Gladys Tabor. Thank you for taking me antiqueing with you. I would have gotten some things. I don’t have much of my accent left now.

Happy and Healthy New Year to you too. I was born and live in the Mid-Atlantic but my heart is in New England for sure. I am blessed to be able to go to Maine every summer and spend time there about an hour and a quarter northwest of Portland on a pond. Can't wait to get there this summer.

I LOVE the ocean on a stormy day. It clears your head, you can breathe fresh air and feel the wind on you face! And that lobster trap tree was amazing! That was a first for me. Nothing like fresh bread and chowder or soup after a beach walk. Yes, Anadama bread is only in New England, as far as I know. Love your videos. Happy new year.

We did a New England vacation 4 years ago and stayed a week in Maine. One of my fav NE states! Favorite lighthouse is Cape Elizabeth. We discovered Stonewall products when we came through Camden and stopped in the store. Stonewall had just started in 1991 in York, ME and I left Connecticut in 1993 and never saw them around at that time. Your travels make me so nostalgic for New England and wanting to move back but my hubs reminds me of the winter snow and I sigh. We will return for another visit. Happy New Year!

Oh... another lovely Sunday excursion! I love sightseeing with you, And I love rainy days! All the roads and homes look so picturesque. Looks like a movie. The Stonewall kitchen store is my kind of shopping! Sauces, james, condiments... I even saw a jar of Lemon Chicken stew starter!!!!! Sounds delicious!!!! How funny that right before watching your video, I was online looking for sales of tartan plaid throws, pillow covers, napkins, table clothes , plate chargers for next year.
