Robinhood vs TD Ameritrade - What You Need to Know!

  • In this video, I break down Robinhood vs TD Ameritrade and explain which $0 commission brokerage is best for you. Robinhood and TD Ameritrade are both fantastic for investing in stocks.
    To compare TD Ameritrade vs Robinhood, I compare their fees, features, customer service, and their mobile apps. By understanding these, you should be able to pick the best brokerage for you.
    🔴💸 If you want to earn interest on your crypto like I do, sign up for BlockFi using my referral link, deposit $100+ and we'll each get up to $250 of free Bitcoin! blockfi.com/?r...
    🔴💸 Get $10 of Bitcoin free with Coinbase when you buy $100+ of crypto - coinbase.com/jo...
    🔴💸 Get one free stock with Robinhood - join.robinhood...
    🔴💸 Get $10 of free Bitcoin with Gemini when you buy $100+ of crypto - www.gemini.com...
    🔴💸 Get $5 of free Bitcoin and help support the lighting network by downloading Strike now -invite.strike....
    *rates are subject to change
    First, I talk about the fee structures of Robinhood vs TD Ameritrade. Robinhood took the stock market by storm when it announced $0 commission trading. Because of this, the Robinhood app gained immediate popularity among young people.
    On the other hand, TD Ameritrade offers free trading with a few catches. For options and futures contracts, as well as OTC investing, you have to pay a fee. So if you trade options, then you might want to go with Robinhood.
    Next, I explain the features of Robinhood vs TD Ameritrade. Just like Fidelity and Etrade, TD Ameritrade offers more trading options than Robinhood does. With TD Ameritrade, you can trade stocks, bonds, funds, options, futures, OTC, and forex. However, with Robinhood, you're limited to stocks, ETFs, and options.
    Also, Robinhood allows you to trade cryptocurrency while TD Ameritrade does not. So, if you like to trade Bitcoin, then Robinhood might be the best brokerage for you.
    The next way to compare TD Ameritrade vs Robinhood is by analyzing their customer service. TD Ameritrade has significantly better customer service than Robinhood. You can get in contact with a real person 24/7. However, the only option with Robinhood is to email customer support.
    TD Ameritrade is the better brokerage customer service-wise. Lastly, I break down the mobile apps of Robinhood vs TD Ameritrade. The TD Ameritrade app is a little bit subpar, while the Robinhood app is amazing.
    So, the best brokerage for you depends on your investing goals and priorities. Some people might like Robinhood and some people might like TD Ameritrade. Others might even choose Etrade or Fidelity. To learn about Etrade and Fidelity, check out my other videos.
    Nothing in this video should be taken as financial advice or any kind of advice. This video and everything I say in it is meant for informational and entertainment purposes only. Facts may or may not be true and could change after posting the video.
    Again, this video is about Robinhood vs TD Ameritrade and is meant to explain investing for beginners. Hopefully, now you can pick the best $0 commission brokerage for you.

    I left Robinhood for TD Ameritrade because Robinhood has no beneficiary option.
    If something happens to you Robinhood forces your family to get a lawyer to get control of your funds. Maybe you can address that in a video. I think it is very important and I’m sure a lot of traders haven’t realized that is the case.

    Robinhood will NOT let you open a joint account or add a beneficiary. TD Ameritrade will. This is HUGE if you are an older investor...or even a younger one. Here is Robinhood's statement: "We don't currently allow users to name a beneficiary, and we don't offer automatic transfer on death registration. In the event of a death, we'll work with the executor of the estate to collect proper documentation and dissolve the account appropriately." That, folks, is a major headache.

    This biggest difference I find is that Robinhood does not have nearly the amount of stocks available on their platform. TD Ameritrade has every stock available including the smaller up coming companies and penny stocks. With TD Ameritrade you can get in on ground level and see where it takes you.

    Robinhood isn't free of fees. They are just including money for each transaction already tacked into the price of the stock. Hidden fee really. They make money on every transaction made, which is why they encourage gamification and constant in/out trading on their platform.

    Unrelated question, but why does Finance seem like one of the few niches on youtube where people with excellent quality content like yours, get so few views and subscribers? The CPM makes up for this, but still, the production quality vs the views seems odd.

    • @joeywakeman3098
      @joeywakeman3098  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That’s a good question. I think there are a lot of newer accounts growing in the finance space, like I’ve only been making decent videos for about two months and it takes time for the algorithm to pick you up. And with the high CPMs in Finance there are inevitably more new accounts trying to grow

    Does TD Ameritrade offer fractional shares now???

  • @OriginalWhiteDevil
    @OriginalWhiteDevil 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have both and Robinhood is far easier to navigate, buy, sell and place orders. TD has more research information. I mainly got Robin to trade crypto because TD doesnt deal in crypto. TD not having crypto is a big negative in 2022. Also, TD is a little sneaky with their fees. Their are mutual funds they'll charge you $50 to buy and turn around and charge you $50 to sell as well. That's a huge cut into profits. There was talk of them eliminating the sell fee but not sure if that's been implemented yet.

    Everyone is excitingly investing yet I ask many if their platform has their beneficiary on file?

    But Robinhood lied. It's not free, and this is why the SEC sued them. And they still do it. So RH is BS. RH also has horrible customer service. RH also is quick to show losses but slow to show gains. One more thing. RH CS doesn't give me straight answers to my questions. The email only option for CS is a deal breaker in itself.

    This video has a lot of wrong information and misleading information. TD is free too and it is certain they charge some fees as well as Robin Wood. But the most important is that TD has amazing platform called TOS and great charts, also they have all the time customer service. TD has also a phone app, but this guy looks like was paid by Robin Hood to advertise for Robbin H. This is a buch of nonsense. Actually it does look like he does not have experience at all in trading.
