When you read bill shankly quote, and you don't know the context nor the football history it sounds pretty exaggerated. But actually it is kinda right that football is more than just live and death.
One of the greatest example for how impactful football is when Ivory Coast national team qualifications for World Cup 2006. On that time Ivory Coast was on civil war. So as the gestures from their national team players to unified their people, Drogba (Captain and Christian representation) and Toure (Muslim representation) kneel and begged their people to stop the war and unite to support them for World cup qualification. So on this particular moment, football literally saved people's live
a sport everybody loves. It started literal wars but it also has the power to stop them. That is the great thing about football, you don't care who is sitting next to you, as long as they support the same team you are friends. Never once talked to each other before but there's a connection instantly
And if you want to experience the peak of the football spirits. On 2026 world cup will be held in Canada, USA and Mexico. So go to the stadium, watch your national team, feel the spirit of nationalism for competing against other nations. And you'll see how crazy football fans when it's about their national pride.

@@keseideh5821 im not trying to convince you i just said my piece. World cup is great for people in countries with a chance but mine (malaysia) has never even gone near qualifying before. And even if we by some miracle win it, it still wont beat what i saw in istanbul 2005 and beating barca 4-0

The pride representation of local or national was presented before our eyes on the pitch. But for established European clubs (EPL, LaLiga, Serie A or Bundesliga clubs) I think it mostly came from our fathers experience for supporting them. So what I am saying is, it is fun to watched Man Utd, Liverpool or Real Madrid. But it is more emotional when you watched JDT or Selangor even though the quality of the plays were way behind European level. But then, I believe it will feel crazier when those clubs colours were dissolved into black and yellow stripes for international competition (at least regional or continental qualifications). Especially when you had match up against the Garuda. I am from SEA by the way

2) The Super Bowl winners are proclaimed “world champions”, after only teams from 1 country (USA) takes part. The last Soccer world championship saw 32 countries from 6 continents take part. That’s how you define a “world” championship.

@@bledarlala6822 the commercial game is worldwide its 2024 after all . I don't see much throwing away , I see a lot of rich people getting richer and lots of foreigners coming in lured by big money. But we also have smaller clubs struggling to survive but they keep going for the love of the game.

honestly I think one of the main reason football hasn't taken off in America is the time difference, youse would have to stay up silly hours to watch the big football games live. It's vice versa though I would love to get more into NFL and NBA but it just doesn't work cos when the big games are on im sleeping. Rate your relationship and chemistry though all love from Manny👍

Although, to be fair, there have been some great American football and basketball endings, too. Stanford with the band on the field and some NCAA buzzer beaters and whatnot. The feeling of winning the World cup in your home country must be the best in the world. Sadly it was taken from us in 2006 and we took it from Brazil in 2014. Those were the great times, World Cup in France, Germany, South Africa was a great vibe, Brazil was great... and this year its being held in fuckin Qatar. Just give it to a nation that actually cares about football like Morocco or Spain or something.
