  • Episode 4 of the Caro Kann Versus Everything speedrun sees us play 2 games with white with the inclusion of 2.a3 (apparently called the goat or ghost variation of the Caro Kann Defense or something) to create a more authentic Caro Kann Defense from the white side when black doesn't play 1/2.e5 to allow for a proper Caro Kann. Incredibly high accuracies in today's games with a brilliant queen sacrifice towards the end of game 1 - really enjoying the added increment to the rapid time format and I hope you enjoy the gameplay and analysis - Caro Kann forever baby!!

    As a 1500 I saw the queen sac immediately in the first game and didn’t even consider changing the move order as you began thinking of knight takes, but I must say I am insanely impressed with how deep you go to analyze a live position, and it’s something I need to practice more and more of, loved the video, will definitely start using your methodical approach in my games!

      Thanks for the kind words Diego, often when several tactics exist, people see one first and not the other but I've tried to always make myself consider changing move orders when I spot tactics so I can evaluate all the possibilities

    Great queen sacrifice and easy game after checkmate blunder.
    Breaking apart the kingside was easily done after they rerouted their kingside knight. I think that was their first major mistake that allowed all the tactics to flow from.

      Yeah it just felt completely wrong even without calculation

    Your game 1 opening looks similar to the Stonewall attack

      How does the stonewall attack work?

    Lol 16:17 theres like a single frame that you added to the video where youre not wearing your headset. Besides that great games as always, glad youre back from your break but definitely take one whenever. Noreason to make it start feeling like a chore as you said.
    51:34 in the game 2 review in one of the lines you go over taking the pawn on d5 when it has no protection but you then say you cant because youd lose the queen? Am i missing some sort of tactic or something?

    Yes absolutely you are playing the right time control to explain your thoughts! It's the Goat because Magnus is the Goat and he was the first famous player to play it.

      Cheers bro and makes sense! I really am enjoying the inclusion of a3 or even a6 with black

      @@ChessCenturion Black Goat you force everyone to play the Caro Kann hahaha but a6 as a premove!

    • @ChessCenturion
      @ChessCenturion  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I love premoving the first 5 moves every game as black in bullet cuz white can't do anything drastic to punish them really

    I came to ask if you on purpose made the thumbnail not of the caro kann to get people to come and make this reaction?

      Not really, it's basically the Caro kann with white though

    Game 1: I saw it first and then wondered if it was better. Yeah, saw it instantly. Look at all captures first.
    Analysis: In the computer analysis line after Bc6, Qf4? Further in the final analysis position, what he should he have played, after Qd5, at 29:37 threatening to take the pawn on b5 black is lost, his bishop is awful, your knight is great. You also threaten RxR if he defends the pawn with a6 and he can't take the rook back with either the bishop or the rook, so he loses a pawn, at least. Black is busted. He must play RxR etc... Trading down in a lost position, and you get the open file, the knight can't move, nor can the rook nor bishop nor any black piece, and a4 is coming. black is in zugzwang. Funny! I guess the rook could play to f6.
    But back to 29:30 after R8e8, QxR! instead of Qd5, looks interesting.
    Game 2: I like all the side lines as openings are not my forte.
    At 43:10 f4 not Bf4, the knight is no longer there, so you can push.
    good games, nice accuracy.
    Analysis: I could not see the winning either clearly, so what you did was fine. Black is lost, which usually means if you are playing a human they will fall soon. Humans don't defend well. Plenty of evidence for that.
    I would mention I would look at old romantic games find errors and then publish my analysis which got into a few local chess magazines.
    That was long ago just when computers where in their infancy, so you had to analyze on your own.
    Like what if Black does not take the second rook? Questions like that.
    In modern times I found a refutation to a line in the QGA, which I do not recommend, that is accepting the gambit, whereas Black is lost in 12 moves.
    A line where you try to hold onto the pawn.

      Chess media must've been so different before computer analysis, kinda sad I didn't get to experience it in real time

      @@ChessCenturion It's better now, as the computer is so easy to use, and accurate. I tried wading through Timman's: "Art of Chess Analysis", back in the day. It's very instructive but use two boards.

    • @Corkodile
      @Corkodile 11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I guess the Bishop fiancetto is less common in the slav and caro + a3 is more tilting lol
