I disagree. I think the Caro Kann is more a cautious positional opening, that kind of dares the opponent to go too far. Correct play, as in any opening, will generally lead to a draw.

after nb2 then a5xa4 why didn't the white knight simply take the rook on c4 instead of a3xb4? have I missed something?

I got a feeling that last one was a pro on, playing against Caro-kann... or maybe, just maybe he just played the game of his/her life...🙃

The last two players were suspect. Especially the last one.

There are anomalies, then there is suspicion. Yes, quite questionable.

I didn’t wanna leave a dumb comment because I think you’re really smart but on game two at the very end when you checked him with the queen, would it have been better to bring the rook down ladder style and then just shove your queen in his hole on the next move and if he steps towards the queen, it’s mate anyways because you brought the rook down or is what you did just slightly better

12:17 I got jumpscared by loud music on headphones xD Great video as always, Alex. Do you have any plans for showing how to play QGD from the black perspective? It would be great to see how you play d4 d5 positions as black in the next speedrun.

For a while back he was recommending the Slav defense seen as a reverse London. There is also a recent video where he plays the King's Indian against all non-e4 openings. Yes, I know, it's not a d4 d5.

I used to watch your videos all the time and have learned a ton of Caro Kann theory from them, but now it just feels like you focus a little too much on the memes. I'm not saying to stop the jokes altogether because it is your channel and you can be really funny at times. It's just frustrating when the first 4:50 minutes of a 5 minute game are spent explaining basic concepts and joking around when you have had to settle for end game draws in many past games due to end game blunders from time pressure. We are Caro Kann players. We see the exact same opening positions in 200 consecutive games. I get that lower rated players struggle remembering the precise theory, but if they really want to improve they should have already learned the first 6-10 moves by now from your videos or chessable course. If they haven't that's because they don't care enough to put in the work to improve. TH-cam is full of content creators explaining the opening principles in the Caro Kann already. We need more middle game and end game strategy to convert the opening advantages which you have hammered home in the past 1000 videos. Please try to spend more time in the middle game and end game. There's still plenty of opportunities to joke around during them given you can stomp 1400s like there's no tomorrow. It's perfectly fine to give us an opening refresher every now and then, but I think it would be just as effective to always link us a basic lichess caro opening study with the first 6-8 moves in the description. With that being said, I wanna thank you for the hard work you put in and the consistency of your uploads. You have been a great teacher. I hope this comment does not offend you and you teach us more advanced topics aimed for 1500-2000 level players. It doesn't have to be the secret sauce in your chessable course, just more focused towards explaining and navigating the middle - end game.
