Someone might have said this already but fun fact, this game started as a multiplayer only game. But somewhere like 80% of the way through making the game Sony gave them more money and told them to make a full game which made it so they had to quickly make a single player which was super rushed
I remember listening to a interview of David Jaffe. He despised the racing levels but the reason he left it in the game is because it was a programmer's idea and they needed that programmer because he was essential to the development of the game. The interview is on GhenryPerez's channel

Also I think the story was added later in development, the game was originally gonna be multiplayer only and then they decided to make a story about it. Take a break before you tackle Head-On so that you can be well rested. 3. I thought the twisted metal TV series was actually relatively well done but I do agree that it has a lot of room for improvement.
Still play these to this day! Absolutely adore this series. My first one was Twisted Metal World Tour, and I've played them all. I love the 2012 one. Love how the story went with this one. Unfortunately Black over here in the UK lacked the FMV's so I never took to that one. The soundtrack to 2012 also was just gorgeous
I think Black was the pinnacle of TM storytelling. If only we could get that same story and this title's gameplay, we'd have another great twisted metal game on our hand. I totally agree with you about combining black and this game. Mr Grim and Outlaw are really good and hard to top, but I enjoyed the sorrow of shadows as well. Honestly they’re all great. But other then those you mentioned, off the top of my head I’d pick shadow.
How hard is it to make a video game about cars with guns? You'd think a concept like that could churn out games on the regular. And there's already so many characters that there's very little need to stress creativity when it comes to character abilities.

I remember the utter dredd and feeling of creepiness i felt whenever i looked at the cover of Twisted Metal Black when i was a kid. Twisted metal 2012 has a few things i like. 1. Sunsprings California is my favorite map in the game 2. The level of of these maps and the Destructible environments is awesome 3. The cutscenes were awesome I cant believe that Sony,in an era where they are desperate for a Live Service Multiplayer Service,wont bring back Twisted Metal which was one of their founding Multiplayer Titles.
37:13 y'know if look at what we see of the car that Dollface drives during the accident in her intro we can see she is driving a roadster and that along with the fact accident itself is a head-on collision it's seemingly implied that the accident that caused Dollface to eventually join the tournament is one in the same as the one Mr. Grimm inadvertently causes when he travels back to the past as the vehicle his father's truck collides head-on with is a roadster of the same model

I got this game as a free download with PlayStation plus, years ago. I played the first level and remember thinking, “nice, I’ll finish this one later.” Because I had a ton of games and hardly any free time. I never did get back to it, and many years ago quit paying for PlayStation plus, so I don’t have access to this title anymore.

Playstation has been my brand since 1996, so these classic PSONE properties are always appreciated so I remember buying this at Launch in 2012. Best Gameplay, Best Soundtrack, Best Graphics (especially the cutscenes. I loved the Real-Time footage/actors with that comic-style filter.) Level design was great and the death race style levels and the Cage Match style matches gave it more variety than the older games. It just fell short with regard to Characters/Drivers. It had all the vehicles and the gameplay was more strategic and varied compared to all the previous entries, but without the drivers, the vehicles kind of just were soulless. It just felt short because of the lack of storylines/campaigns. Sony needs to make the people happy and bring this and even maybe Syphon Filter back. Or at least remaster it for PS5. Don't be Lame, Sony!

This is my favorite TM game. The Gameplay is excellent, i likes most of the roster of vehicles, Sweet Tooth & Grimm are Cool & the lvl design is really good for the most part.
I have rage quit this game more times than i can remember. So it was good to see further into the game without the pain and torment. Thank you for your sacrifice.
I genuinely loved this game (and still do) had so much fun, I was doing my last year of highschool when this dropped, wish this was on PS4/5. Edit: I wonder if I'm the only one who also liked and enjoyed the racing lol I managed to get first fairly easy on normal difficulty.
Regarding the TV show, I just wanted to say I was also very disappointed in how they handled The Preacher. I got serious TJ Miller vibes, which is just not the same character like TM Black and 2012 had. Other than simple namesake. When I think of Jebidiah, I pictured an old senile pastor who though causes terrible actions via his cult of Holy Men, in his mind he's only doing what God intended him to do. Which he'd have faith that God shall reward him greatly for his endeavors, which initself could've setup an ironic twist of fate realizing that he'd forsaken the very same God he claimed to worship. Hell, had the show took him more seriously, he could've been a very cool antagonist rather than what they actually gave us. The part that made me cringe the hardest, was him basically telling his gang members... *"Then I was like...WTF, Gods like Forsaken Us. What a bitch amirite?"* Like...seriously? *THATS* what they're going for?? Some douchey "dude bro" who likes fucking bimbos and does kung fu? I am sorry, but that is *NOT* Jebidiah, least not the one I wanted to see on the big screen. Not even close. Of all characters in the show, his was by far the biggest face palm Ive seen imo. Really dreading how they might butcher Mr. Grimm, Axel or Calypso after that.

If you play as sweet tooth and run around whenever he's in his transformer mode pick up all the heavy machine gun ammo and he's one of the most powerful if not the most powerful in the game
Have to also fly around and get all the nitrous but if you learn where the heavy machine gun ammo responds and nitrous your pretty much a flying gunning chopper
I'm new to emulating for ps3 and just got TM 2012 up this evening myself. It wouldn't run right at first, but the emulator RPCS3 said it had an update for version 1.06. I patched it out and it immediately improved. If it's not patched beyond 1.0 maybe investigate that? No pressure! It's just my input.

11:16 Awful vehicle choice?? Dude Sweet Tooth is OP as shit but you skipped the tutorial that taught you how to make the goddamn truck *FLY* like Talon, makes the cage match (and most levels) a cakewalk lol best car in the game IMO but it takes some practice
The game from a commercial perspective had two major issues. One the lack of characters put people off and the online didn’t work. The online was basically not functional which for a game with a single player campaign that’s 6-8 hours long you really needed to have a good online component and it didn’t deliver. The online was good when it worked but it was really difficult to get into a match and not the smoothest at times when you did get in. They stopped patching and tuning the game less than a year after it came out and it made the game a mess with cheaters and exploits running rampant. Sad because the core game play is great (my only complaints are the dodge ability is limited and there are a lot of cars that are poor clones or too similar to one another) and a lot of the new modes were a welcomed addition to the formula. I wish the PS3 weren’t a bitch to emulate. Because if they did a rerelease of the game with some balancing and better online functionality when the TV show came out it would have done well. Sadly the only way to play it is on a PS3. Lots of potential but I think the development cycle changing scope so much (the game was originally supposed to be just a 20 dollar PSN game) really hurt the games chances to succeed

Changing Junkyard Dog's special attack to launching scrap cars was a cool idea, definitely better than the little spike ball he throws in Black.
