How to Hand Stamp Copper Sheet

- Just a little tutorial on hand-stamping copper sheet. This is stamping thicker copper, so a bit more force is needed for the whole image to show up.
Use way less force for the standard 26gauge / 12oz copper sheet you can buy at like Menards.

Good morning Sara !
Just started going down the rabbit hole of copper cookware as I want something that can last forever for my family. Also checked your website and thought how cool it was that you were so close to where I grew up and I never would have known! I want to try and make my own, albeit probably not in the same traditional way you go about it. I might try and do it with some forms and hammering to see what I can do. Really cool channel!
You can do it!!!!!
Love your videos!
thank you!
Very cool Sara!🤩
xoxoxo - I'm slowly inching on your copper!
@@housecopper Thanks Sar, no rush though!🥰
Hello, Sara. I enjoy your work and have learned a lot, so thank you. I write to offer a thought - I've had a lot of trouble hammering my small "maker's mark" stamp evenly - it always went on at a slight angle. I got a little brass bushing at the hardware store, reamed it out a little, and use it as a sleeve to keep things plumb. Works great!
Thank you so much for sharing what works for you! I bet a fixture like that would be a major help! Thank you!!!!
Ok next project for you. Repoussé or repoussage is a metalworking technique in which a malleable metal is shaped by hammering from the reverse side to create a design in low relief using a pitch for backing.
Like the picture I sent you back in 2018? When I had 7 Danes. Now I have 3, wow time sure does fly.
I wish I had time to play on this stuff more than I do! :P When I retire, I will take up repousse. :)
@@housecopper lol when you retire.... I have news for you. When you retire you have more things to do than you'll have time to do it. Not to mention the mind maybe will but your body will be telling you to shut up.
Like when I volunteer to help people build a house, or drop 100' junk trees (widowmakers) at 70. I retired in 2000 @45.
Gotta whole bunch of ... in the middle of projects.
I do have a large body of work but I haven't thrown any pots since I retired. I have 2 wheels and a kiln, sitting waiting.
That 1880's baby grand piano I want to finish, re-finishing.
And re-tinning all my copper pots. That's how I found you.
I waste TOO much time on YT. But it's the only social media I use for alt-real-news.
😃👍🏼👊🏼
Hi Sara!
Where did you source the Square and Compass stamp?
Thanks!
Whipple
It is a custom stamp I had made specially for a job I'm doing for the Freemasons/Marine Corps. The company I use for custom stamps is Infinimark - the work is a few hundred dollars for a single stamp.
@@housecopper Thank you Sara. I was hoping it was an off the rack stamp.
