This is too funny. I was just thinking about you a couple hours ago when I was making tortellini for lunch. Thinking how awesome it would be for you to come to Hawaii to do a demo. Or at least help me with re-zincing a half dozen of my old copper pots. My pizza pan needs it too. I used to do metal chasing and jewelry. I hammered out a 5" brass bell for a goblet back in my Renn Faire days.
I would let you say in my guesthouse and feed you and your husband for a week on the Big Island of Hawaii, Hilo side. Winter is comming. I'm 70 and very serious. I've had some of these copper pots 30 years, and a few are pretty old collected from antiques shops at least 30 years ago. Love your work.

Lol, if tickets were more affordable from Wisconsin, we'd be there. I'd be more worried about setting up an ad-hoc shop that was efficient and workable though.

Wow! you have a nice career! I'm jealous! I love finding unused great items and restoring. It's so telling that older objects are made to last and are better if some care is taken. Not just throw and get another. :) If only society was more based around this, perhaps would be fewer problems and people happier.

Question: what is a good working height for pexto stake plates? I see at least two in your videos (LOVE the one with an oak frame!) are they set to different heights for different purposes?

Mostly the heights are based on what I have. My late uncle built the iron holders for his height - close to mine. Bob the tinsmith always has them higher as he's taller than me. Ideally you do what works best for your height!

Hello, can you tell me what is the alloy (sandwich) of stainless steel and copper for making kitchen pans?
    thank you

I don't work in stainless or stainless/copper bimetal. The alloys (a non-pure copper and stainless 'sandwich') are explained in detail in the patents taken out by bimetal producers, and are available for free online if you'd like to see the different chemical make-ups out there. :)
