  • Executive Director Vu Nguyen owns a 2006 Porsche Cayenne S, and after being exposed to the elements for more than a decade, his stock headlights were in a sorry state. We decided to restore them using Griot's Garage's Headlight Restoration Kit, which clears up the foggy lenses, and put in new Xenon bulbs. Watch the video to see how it's done, plus before and after comparisons.

Honestly, I've seen videos where they sand it down and then polish it with the appropriate polish and it looks a lot better.

With that can’s spray always will be with orange’s peel finish . For better quality paint finish, It will be good if also apply 1500grid sand paper followed by a proper compound and polish.

Excellent video Vu! I too have tried all the other methods for cleaning headlight lenses. The Groit's Garage kit appears to work quite well. I think seeing you do the job will take some of the mystery and trepidation out of the job for many people. Same for the changing of the headlamp. This video will save our members hundreds of dollars (if not thousands). I hope you will present more videos on maintenance techniques. Thanks so much. Rush Pond, Central New York Region

I restored the headlights on my 996 doing this spray method once, and a year or two later using 3M's kit that has the whipe on clear coat, and the results are better with the 3M whipe on kit. With the 3M kit my headlights look flawless/new. With the spray they showed the individual scratches in the headlight.

I’m surprised this comes from Porsche experts president. From the brief research I’ve done, it is apparent to me that it is better to use a UV film instead of a spray or cream. From what I’ve seen is the lens is polished with finer and finer paper and then you move to paste polishing and finally you protect the clear result with a UV film, squeegeed and heated to shape and allowed to dry, like a full auto PPF. This provides both protection from chips but also UV protection on a polished to clear surface. This job was not what I expected to see from PCA.

Bring them to a paint shop, wet sanding, buff, then satin coat then 2 coats of clear. Boom brand new

We found it easier to sand/handle headlight while on car. But taking them out is definitely an option.
