    I learned long ago to remove plastic dipsticks and set them safely aside before doing any serious work in their vicinity ... it only took one (or maybe two) broken ones to teach me that simple but valuable lesson.

    I used a 7/8 box wrench for the valve removal...smaller than having to use a 22mm deep-well socket and ratchet plus it has an angled head...and I didn't twist over the intake as much. Thanks for this video.

    Thanks, your vid helped a ton! FYI a 7/8 deepwell will work too. 7/8" = 22.2mm.
    Job went good. If your car is older or higher mileage, spray fasteners with WD40 or PB blaster first. Also re-tighted intake fasteners evenly a little bit at a time in a rotating pattern. Having a good assortment of socket extensions and swivel/universal joints helps too!

    FYI if you do this I would suggest replacing the intake gasket, it orange rubber but if the tabs that stick out at the ends are black it's going bad and it may give codes especially in cold weather.

    The hardest part was getting that bolt in the lower right corner of the manifold. What was Toyota thinking with the placement of the valve? 😂

    FYI, this is also possible on Toyota Avensia T27 2zr-fae, but it is realy difficult because of 2 bolts holding air intake, one close to generator and one close to valve body water piping. Also extreme difficult because of wiring between starter and manifold. You need to take out engine cover from below to access wiring clamp

    • @big_rider
      @big_rider ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just did this today on a T27, there's an extra bolt on the left bottom of the inlet manifold. I had to remove the alternator to get to it. I see what you mean about the wiring behind the starter motor, I was able to get my hands in from underneath and cut the tie off, proper pain it was.

  • @dallasbeus2117
    @dallasbeus2117 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just changed my PCV valve and I noticed 2 issues that I didn't see covered in the video. My engine had one more hose located at the top of the manifold to disconnect and the wire loom on the right side and underneath on the right side of the manifold connected to the same cable were a big problem, another poor design. They took me the longest of anything to get disconnected. After pulling up the manifold and inspecting them they looked redundant. I also noticed when loosening the bolts on the manifold they were torqued way higher than specified, they were installed at the factory. I thought I was going to need a breaker bar to loosen them. The PCV valve was stiff to back out and stiff to re-install. Good luck on your PCV valve change, they appear not all to be the same.
