    Why use the large profile adjustable wrench if you have the correct 19mm open end wrench? You wouldn’t need to remove that plastic rail to make room if you used the correct tool

    Why didn't you use a box wrench on the PCV valve? You showed one? With a box or socket wrench no need to remove harness wiring!!! Just another step that may break the plastic. No tape on the threads?

    How do you know when that goes out? Is it replaced on a regular maintenance?
    Can't you just spray it with carb cleaner in a pinch?
    Will it show a OBD2 code?
    Do I have it in a 2012 Toyota Corolla Sport 1.8l?

    • @bundysgarage
      @bundysgarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it’s in a Toyota 1.8L
      It will not show an OBD2 code
      You can spray it with carb cleaner in a pinch
      It’s a regular maintenance item
      Change it every 50,000 to 60,000 miles.

      I thought this was going to be an easy fix with a pliers and a mm wrench. Wrong. It's all backwards and upsidedown. That thing is behind the manifold. Dumb place for that. They are for the garage not the people's car.

    Novice question: The coil pack wiring has a plastic hose-like case around it. I managed to crack the hose slightly. Am I OK to just cover it with some electrical tape? Should I test the coil packs to make sure the wires are OK? My engine is idling a little rough. I doubt this is the culprit (think it's the PCV hose) but should I eliminate the possibility with a check?

    • @bundysgarage
      @bundysgarage  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Caitlin Newman if there was a misfire from a damaged wire then your check engine light would be on. A cracked plastic wiring loom would not effect performance.

    the PCV valve is easy to remove.... take it out and clean with spray PCV valve aerosol cleaner or even MAFS aerosol spray...CHEAP insurance to clean BOTH valves and be careful with the tiny MAFS attachment screws.

    Hola, tengo toyota Corolla 2008. con 235 mil kmts, el auto falla y los sintomas son estos: arranca y conforme se va calentando las rpm suben a casi 2000 rpm. Luego al andar en calle o carretera si lo dejas en punto muerto las rpm suben y bajan de 2000 y bajan a 1000, hasta que en un momento si paro el carro quedan en 2000 rpm. hice una prueba, saqué la goma del filtro de aire, así tenía acceso al cuerpo de aceleración, puse en marcha y poco a poco tapé la entrada de aire que entra a la válvula IAC, hasta quedar completamente tapada , entonces el motor se detiene, eso me dice que no hay entradas de aire adicionales. Otra prueba, en frio y con contacto puesto, medí al conector hembra que le enchufa a la IAC, puse negativo tester directo a bateria y me dio 12 volts con el cable negro y azul y luego medí al cable de tierra (negro) y no dio nada de voltaje y despues al otro cable, que creo es señal y midió 0.14 volts, también le cuento que desconecte el conector del IAC, el carro anda y hace el mismo problema. Me preocupa mucho que pueda ser la ECU la que pueda estar enviando un voltaje inapropiado. Gracias por su ayuda

    Old school. You remove the valve. You shake it to see if the valve is moving . You blow out the dirt. You spray degreaser in the valve. You blow it out again. Shake the valve. Is it moving freely ? Yes ? Put it back in. No need to buy a new one. Case closed.

I want the damn one with correct threads that is a match for my car.... not one that does not fit. It's a simple valve to replace and NAPA cannot narrow the one you need with the engine model and year and car model ?
