Less than a month after starting a statin (Lipitor) following a heart attack with nultiple Stent placement I developed hepatitis. My liver enzymes were out of sight, 900+. It took a week in the hospital for close monitoring of liver enzymes to be certain there wasn't damage to the liver. I had told the original prescriber at a teaching hospital that I didn't want to take the statin but he was a young hot shot cardiac fellow and had several students in tow that he had to impress. He insisted that studies showed it saved lives. He had a supervisor that didn't intervene. It was a hospitalist at a much smaller hospital who figured it out. My original cardiologist was fine with that but others tried trying to get me to try a different statin. There was one that supposedly didn't work through the liver nut I was so shaken by the whole experience that I was done with experimentation, with me being a lab rat. I had previously worked in a medical research lab plus knew the risks and decided not to use any. To my knowledge the young cardiac fellow never knew the havoc he wrought. I should have insisted he be told and apologize to me. But I didn't know that then. I do now.

My mother died from Zocor induced rhahdomyolisis in ten days (that was back in 2004). Doctors mistreated her for a week (as a drug like Zocor cannot be lethal! HAHA) , then it was too late and rhabdo got out of control. HUngary, Europe. She was a long distance runner , age 61, perfectly healthy minus high cholesterol familly DNA heritage, for a week doctors thought she just had a very heavy muscle pain due to running...

Last month my doctor put me on Rosuvastatin 10mg/day. After 10 days of taking the medicin, I had such terrible muscle pain &weakness that I wasn't able to walk even slowly. It must have been a side effect of the statin, but I was wondering was the effect possible to develop in just 10 days. I stopped taking the statin immediately. Haven't seen my doctor yet. I will tell him I refuse taking statins. The muscles have recovered a bit, but not completely.
My condolescents for what happened to your mother.❤

Every Doctor i have seen wants me on Statins because of high triglycerides (heritary). In over 20 years of taking various Statins, none of them have lowered my Triglycerides. I have severe muscle and skeletal problems after taking Statins over the years. NOT ONE DOCTOR I HAVE WILL EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THAT STATINS CAUSE MYOPATHY AND OTHER DAMAGE.

Thanks doctor, it was eye opening for me. A year ago I have been started to take (although low doses) 10 mg Simvastatin every night but since Then I am having all of these mussel and joint problems. I am 60 years old but I used to play football and walk at least 8km a day. Now I am having difficulty to get out of car without supporting myself . I will definitely talk to my GP to find a solution. Thanks again for your valuable advice on statins .

Simvastatin is an old statin in respect of which there is Atorvastatin or Rosuvastatin . You can be shifted on these statin of lower side effects and of greater efficacy after consulting your doctor

✝ By this Gospel you are 𝗦𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗗 *[by grace (alone) through faith (alone) and not of works, lest any man boast]* if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: *that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.* (1 Co 15:2-4) (Eph 2:8-9)
✝ For God so greatly 𝓁𝑜𝓋𝑒𝒹 and dearly prized the world, athat He gave His One and only begotten Son, so that *whoever 𝗕𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗦 in Him shall not perish (in hell) but have Eternal life (in Heaven).* (John 3:16)
