I now cannot get a doctor because I refused to take statins. My cholesterol numbers were elevated due to carnivore. I'm 40lbs lighter and bloodwork is perfect all except for my CRP which is now only recently out of whack, yet doctors don't care about that. All they care about is feeding the pharma cow. I have lost all respect for the medical profession.

Actually I’ve taken statins on and off for decades but not for the last 15 years or so. Fortunately I’ve never had a bad side-effect - or a lowering in the numbers that statins are supposed to lower. Absolutely no effects positive or negative, which may be just as well.

Not YET seen any problems, etc. If the dangerous affect were quick and obvious, the statins would have been taken off the market years ago and the Drs. and drug companies would have been sued out of business.
They know there are long term dangers and that's all a part of their plan... Just my opinion.

Love this -as a physician a retiring cardiologist basically told this to my medical school class 30 years ago …a doc asked “if we don’t write a statin and one of our patients gets a heart attack and we are sued what should we do ? “ he answered “I’ll write a letter of support at your malpractice trial “ I remember thinking 🤔 why would the AMA and all the other cardiologist be on board with this ? The retiring cardiologist predicted we will have skyrocketing diabetes and mental health problems …all this has come true …thank you for all you do -there is a big disconnect in ignorance of diet and inflammation

In the mid-1990's I stopped taking statins. I can't find it now, but there was a Harvard study indicating that 77% of women who were on statins would develop T2 diabetes..... guess what happened to me? I read a few books and starting researching the work of functional medical practitioners.... I'm now 73 years old and I've had high cholesterol for 33+ years. I stick mainly to a low-carb diet and about 90% of my food is what I call "real" food, prepared from scratch..... my last tests indicate that my blood sugar levels are within limits. I've been fighting with my doctors for 30 years and in one instance, I had to provide a disclaimer to my doctor when I lived in the UK.

A work colleague took a statin for at least 20 years and still required a stent down the track (not sure if he had a heart attack or just blockage; whichever the statin did NOT prevent it). He stopped his statin about 3 years ago. He told me that he was okay on it for most of that time and then the side effects started and he felt awful. Robert you know my fellow cardiologists are being pressured to use "safer" newer non statin drugs to lower ldl as well as use glp1 and sglt2 drugs. The wish is to be on all three. We touched on this a little in january. They want an ldl less than 40. I dance around this as well as i can, with "shared descision making" but public disagreement leads to cancellation.at least for a cardiologist.Notice how Dr Budoff did not comment at all about ldl. Why would you replace statins with glp1 instead of treating type 2 with very low carb diets and exercise protocols especially now that we are seeing the harmful effects of glp1's. In a percent of the population which may become more elevated gastroparesis is no joke. Why are we not giving patients the support they need to incorporate tailored diet and exercise protocols including support for changing mindset in the face of carbohydrate addiction. And, why are CGMs so expensive and only covered by insurance if you are on insulin. Insurance companies would save money down the line by aiding people to autonomously manage their disease.

Medications often work so well that there is no incentive for the patient to make dietary and lifestyle changes. Health care is collapsing right before our eyes. Driven by profits rather than common sense health treatments.

Signs and symptoms of low blood sugar may include: dizziness or lightheadedness, blurred vision, anxiety, irritability or mood changes, sweating, slurred speech, hunger, confusion or drowsiness, shakiness, weakness, headache, fast heartbeat, and feeling jittery.
kidney problems (kidney failure). In people who have kidney problems, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting may cause a loss of fluids (dehydration), which may cause kidney problems to get worse. It is important for you to drink fluids to help reduce your chance of dehydration.

I was diagnosed atherosclerotic10-12 yrs ago. Im t2d and have early stages of cirrhosis. My Gastro says the cirrhosis is completely reversible if I lose weight. I have a very distended mid section. Im on 2 diabetic meds, 2 heart meds, a statin, 1 prostate med. My PCP prescribed Ozempic. I havent used it yet, i have reservations. I started the carnivore program 2 weeks ago. The weight is coming off. My sugar is stabilizing. My ankles are no longer swollen. I just dont want to take more meds, in fact my goal is to get off all the meds. I dont know if im making a mistake not taking Ozempic. I want a magic pill like everyone else, theres no such thing. Ideas? I forgot to say that my total cholesterol is 95 and has been low my whole life. I was a heavy smoker for about 15 years.

There’s a school of thought that suggests that Nicotine alone is not atherogenic…and could even be the opposite. It’s the fact that, because it’s highly addictive people smoke it habitually in the form of dried tobacco (along with other additives)…and that this “delivery system” is the damaging culprit. Is this true….or nonsense?

From a commonsense perspective it just seems stupid to be putting smoke of any kind into the lungs. And yes, I was a smoker in my younger days.

@@jobrown8146 Absolutely. Makes me wonder which current human habits will be seen as stupid in the future. A list of them!

I do believe statins will one day be obsolete. Absolute Risk Reductions are in the 1% to 2% range. Meanwhile Residual Events Rates in the statin groups can be anywhere up to 16 times higher than the absolute reduction. With the IMPROVE-IT study I rest my case.
34.7% - 32.7% = 2% Absolute Reduction in CV events. But note the 32.7% Residual Event Rate in the experimental group who still suffered a cardiac event despite further reduction in LDL-C.
